381. Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi proceeds on visit to UAE and Sri Lanka to strengthen defence cooperation
- On January 4, 2026, it was reported tht Chief of the Army Staff, General has proceeded on a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Sri Lanka, as part of India’s continued engagement to strengthen defence cooperation and military-to-military ties with friendly foreign countries.
- During his visit, the Army Chief will call on senior leadership of the UAE Armed Forces, including the Commander of the UAE Land Forces and visit key military establishments. General Dwivedi will also visit the UAE National Defence College.
- fostering mutual trust and enhancing interoperability with friendly nations in the Indian Ocean Region and West Asia.
382. Mobile solar-powered millet processing unit inaugurated at Gundri
- On January 03, 2026, A mobile solar-powered millet processing unit was inaugurated recently at Gundri in Kadambur hills in Erode, with the objective of ensuring food security for tribal communities and improving the livelihoods of tribal women.
- The unit was inaugurated by P. Sivakumar under the StartupTN Scheme, designed by Oscar Solar Pump with CSR support from Vivriti Capital, operating fully on solar energy.
- Built at ₹23.5 lakh with 9 HP capacity, the unit processes ragi and thinai through cleaning, milling, grading, and solar drying; it will benefit over 1,500 tribal families and empower women SHGs with training and income opportunities.
383. Bihar CM launches scheme to ensure ease of living for senior citizens
- On January 03, 2026, in Bihar, Chief Minister launched the “Sabaka Sammaan–Jeevan Aasaan” initiative to make the lives of senior citizens easier and more dignified.
- Under the programme, the Bihar government will deliver healthcare services such as home pathology tests, BP and ECG checks, physiotherapy, nursing care, and emergency medical support directly to senior citizens at their homes.
- The initiative is part of Saat Nishchay 3 (2025–2030); guidelines have been issued to the Health Department, and citizens have been invited to suggest additional measures to further support elderly welfare.

384. Govt approves 22 new projects across eight states under Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme
- On January 03, 2026 in New Delhi, the Centre approved 22 new proposals under the third tranche of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, involving investments of ₹41,863 crore across eight Indian states.
- Union Minister of IT announced the approvals, enabling companies across mobile, telecom, IT hardware, automotive, and strategic electronics sectors to expand manufacturing through policy reforms and faster execution.
- The approvals cover PCBs, capacitors, connectors, Li-ion cells, display modules, and sub-assemblies, taking total ECMS approvals to 46 projects with ₹54,567 crore investment, creating about 51,000 direct jobs nationwide.

385. India’s First Government AI Clinic Launched at GIMS Greater Noida
- On January 3, 2026, India unveiled its first government hospital–based Artificial Intelligence (AI) clinic at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, in an online inauguration attended by over 100 medical experts, researchers, policymakers, and international guests.
- Established under the GIMS Centre for Medical Innovation, the AI clinic aims to integrate AI into clinical practice to support quicker diagnoses, safer treatments, and better medical decision-making, while also providing a real-world platform for AI healthcare startups to develop, test, and validate solutions.
- With backing from government health officials and collaborations with premier institutions like IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and IIIT Lucknow, the facility will embed AI tools directly into hospital workflows, enhancing patient outcomes and accelerating innovation adoption in public healthcare.
386. India's First AI Clinic Inaugurated At GIMS Greater Noida
- On January 03, 2026, at Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, India’s first government hospital-based Artificial Intelligence clinic was inaugurated to modernise public healthcare delivery using advanced digital tools.
- The clinic was inaugurated online by the Additional Director General of Health Services, Government of India, and led by Rakesh Kumar Gupta, enabling AI startups to develop, test, and validate solutions directly within a government clinical environment.
- Established under the GIMS Centre for Medical Innovation, with support from IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and IIIT Lucknow, the clinic focuses on imaging, decision support, faster treatment, patient safety, and will see its physical launch on January 6.
387. Government Launches Schemes to Boost Trade Finance For MSME Exporters
- On January 3, 2026, in New Delhi, the Government of India launched two new schemes under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) to support MSME exporters by reducing export credit costs and improving access to trade finance.
- The first scheme provides a 2.75% interest subvention on pre- and post-shipment rupee export credit for exports covered under a positive list of HS 6-digit tariff lines (about 75%), with an annual cap of ₹50 lakh per exporter (IEC).
- The second scheme introduces collateral guarantee support through CGTMSE, offering up to 85% coverage for Micro and Small exporters and 65% for Medium exporters, aimed at boosting bank lending and enhancing MSME participation in global value chains.

388. State transport department launches initiatives for road safety
- On January 03 ,2026, the Rajasthan State Transport Department is observing Road Safety Month from January 1 to January 30, 2026, across all districts to reduce road accidents and promote traffic discipline.
- District road safety committees are implementing measures such as reflective tape campaigns, removal of roadside encroachments, improvement of accident black spots, and public awareness through local media.
- Schools, gram panchayats, and public places are hosting daily workshops, audio-video sessions, and competitions to educate students and the public on road safety rules and responsible road behaviour.

389. Sikkim AI Startup Apuphi Bags $4.4 Million German FDI
- On January 02 ,2026 it was reported that, in Sikkim, AI career platform Apuphi secured German FDI at a USD 4.4 million valuation, signalling growing global investor confidence in technology startups emerging from India’s smaller states and hill regions.
- Founded by Diwash Kapil Chettri and Sulabh Raj Gurung, Apuphi attracted investors through global founder networks, backed by its AI-driven, integrated approach to jobs, skills, mentorship, and ethical, explainable career intelligence.
- The FDI was structured via Series-I CCPS under FEMA norms; funds will strengthen AI systems ahead of a phased public launch by mid-2026, focusing on job discovery, skill-gap insights, inclusivity for non-metro users, and responsible data practices.
390. ArcelorMittal Doubles Renewable Energy Capacity in India with $0.9 Billion Investment
- On January 02, 2026, it was reported that ArcelorMittal announced three new renewable energy projects in India, adding 1GW of solar and wind capacity, doubling its India portfolio to 2GW.
- The projects will supply clean power to AM/NS India, ArcelorMittal’s joint venture with Nippon Steel, through a $0.9 billion investment in large-scale renewable infrastructure.
- By 2028, the projects will meet 35% of Hazira plant electricity needs, cut 4 million tonnes of CO₂ annually, and raise ArcelorMittal’s global renewable capacity to 3.3GW, alongside projects in Brazil and Argentina, as highlighted by CEO Aditya Mittal.
