1961. Volks Energie Secures Strategic Win with JHBDPL to Strengthen India’s Renewable Energy Infrastructure
- On 6 may 2025 It was reported that, Volks Energie had secured a major project under GAIL India’s Jagdishpur–Haldia–Bokaro–Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL), where it will supply, install, and commission 15 KWP solar photovoltaic power plants with Ni-Cd batteries at nine key locations across Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.
- Volks Energie, committed to sustainable energy, will utilize solar power paired with Ni-Cd batteries—known for their 20-year lifespan—ensuring a reliable and long-term solution for challenging environments.

1962. India, Italy explore ways to strengthen economic ties at ADB meet
- Union Finance Minister of India on 5 May, 2025. met her Italian counterpart, Giancarlo Giorgetti, on the sidelines of the 58th ADB Annual Meeting in the Italian city of Milan.
- They explored ways to strengthen India-Italy economic ties and enhance cooperation in global and multilateral platforms on issues of mutual interest.
- Both Finance Ministers discussed the importance of reforming Multilateral Development Banks to make them more responsive to developing countries’ needs. The Indian Finance Minister also met Japan’s Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato and discussed the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations.

1963. India Completes First Offshore Decommissioning Project In Tapti Gas Fields
- On 5 May 2025 India has completed its first large-scale offshore decommissioning project with the successful removal of mid and south Tapti field facilities. The project was led by the Panna-Mukta and Tapti (PMT) joint venture, comprising Shell (through BGEPIL), Reliance Industries (RIL), and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), under a production sharing contract with the Government of India.
- The decommissioning involved the removal of five wellhead platforms and associated subsea pipelines and the plugging and abandonment of 38 wells. These operations were conducted in accordance with an approved decommissioning plan, with a focus on safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance.
- As part of the implementation strategy, major contracts were awarded to Indian companies in alignment with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) executed the offshore dismantling operations, while Chowgule Shipyard (CLSPL) is overseeing onshore dismantling at its facility in Ratnagiri. Offshore work has been completed,

1964. India tests multi-influence mine to boost underwater defence capabilities
- On 5 March 2025 The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have successfully carried out a combat firing (with reduced explosive) of the indigenous Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM).
- The MIGM, an advanced underwater naval mine, was developed by the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam, in collaboration with DRDO's High Energy Materials Research Laboratory in Pune and the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory in Chandigarh.
- MIGM is designed to counter modern stealth ships and submarines, strengthening the Indian Navy's defensive capabilities. Bharat Dynamics Limited, Visakhapatnam, and Apollo Microsystems Limited, Hyderabad, are the production partners for the system.
1965. Northeast gets dedicated cargo train to boost trade, connect Agartala to Punjab
- On May 5, 2025, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) launched a Parcel Cargo Express Train (PCET) service connecting Agartala, Tripura, to Sanehwal, Punjab, to enhance freight logistics and trade from the Northeast.
- Operated by AVG Logistics Ltd. under a Rs 68.95 crore contract, the PCET will run twice monthly, completing 144 round trips over six years, initially with 15 parcel vans, upgrading to 20 based on demand.
- Aimed at farmers and small traders, the service facilitates cost-effective transport of goods like rubber and pineapples, integrating Tripura’s producers into national markets.
- NFR officials highlight the initiative as a milestone for efficient logistics, aligning with Indian Railways’ strategy to boost long-distance cargo movement and unlock the Northeast’s economic potential.

1966. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari launches multiple road projects worth ₹3,900 cr in Telangana
- Union Road Transport and Highways Minister laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation multiple road projects worth 3,900 crore rupees at Sirpur Kagajnagar in Telangana On 5 May 2025.
- The Minister said, the Indore-Hyderabad corridor of the New Green express highway will be completed by March next year, followed by the Surat-Nasik-Kurnool-Hyderabad-Chennai-Tiruvananthapuram Greenfield Highway by April 2026. The Minister also emphasised the need to plan the water resources in various rivers and utilise them where there is a need.
- The Minister said, highway projects worth two lakh crore rupees will be undertaken in Telangana over the next three to four years, ensuring faster connectivity to Hyderabad from remote districts like Kothagudem and Mulugu.

1967. Coal India partners with UPRVUNL to set up solar power plant in UP
- Coal India Ltd (CIL) on 5 May, 2025, said it has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UPRVUNL to set up a 500 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh.
- The development is a part of initiatives of Coal India Ltd in the green energy space and to meet the growing energy demand of Uttar Pradesh.
- In April, Coal India had entered into a pact with Damodar Valley Corporation for setting up an ultra supercritical power plant in Jharkhand with a total investment of ₹16,500 crore.
1968. ISRO reportedly conducts satellite 'dogfight' at nearly 29,000 kilometers per hour amid India-Pakistan tensions
- On 5 May 2025 It was reported that, A month after the US flagged China for conducting mock ‘dogfights’ in space using satellites, India had achieved a similar feat by carrying out a complex satellite manoeuvre using leftover fuel from its SPADEX mission.
- ISRO had launched the SPADEX mission to test autonomous rendezvous and docking capabilities. After its successful completion, the agency found that both satellites involved still had around 50% of their fuel remaining. This was possible due to a precise rocket launch and frugal use of fuel in orbit.
- Two Indian satellites were travelling through space at a speed of 28,800 kilometers per hour, which is 28 times faster than a commercial passenger jet.

- On May 4, 2025, In a landmark move to bolster security and streamline cargo screening operations, Eastern Railway has installed large tunnel-size 180180D Cargo X-ray scanners at Sealdah and Bhagalpur stations.
- X-ray scanners Developed by Vehant Technologies and this installation marks a major leap in the Indian Railways ' technological upgradation efforts to handle rising volumes of larger cargo shipments.
- Indian railway stations have relied on single-view scanners for baggage and parcel screening. However, given the increasing movement of larger cargo packages and the need for higher throughput at key junctions, Eastern Railway opted for the more robust 180180D scanner model, making it the first Made in India Large Tunnel-Size Cargo Scanners.

- The park, spread across 13.5 acres, marks a historic stride in India's ambitions to become a global digital powerhouse.
- The Data Center Park will include a 2.7-hectare area developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Operated by RackBank Datacenters Private Limited, the project is fully dedicated to AI-based services.
