1831. Reliance Infra becomes first private Indian firm to develop next-gen 155mm artillery shells
- On 3 June 2025, it was reported that Reliance Infrastructure became the first Indian private firm to develop indigenous 155mm artillery shells under a partnership with DRDO.
- The company is setting up a ₹5,000 crore defence manufacturing hub in Ratnagiri, targeting ₹20,000 crore in domestic and export business.
- A new strategic partnership with Rheinmetall AG will enable Reliance to supply explosives globally, boosting India's defence export potential.
1832. ISRO's SHAR signs MoU with RTGS to boost real-time citizen services using space tech
- The Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC SHAR) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Real Time Governance System (RTGS) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 3 June 2025, to improve the use of space technology for citizen-centric services.
- The collaboration will enhance the AWARE platform with satellite imagery and scientific inputs across 42+ applications spanning agriculture, weather, disaster management, urban planning, and so on.
- AWARE integrates data from satellites, drones, IoT, sensors, mobile feeds, and CCTV to deliver real-time alerts and advisories to citizens and the government via SMS, WhatsApp, and media and social media," The Chief Minister's post added.
1833. ISRO successfully completes third hot test of semicryogenic engine in Tamil Nadu
- On 2 June 2025,The Indian space agency completed its third hot test of the Power Head Test Article (PHTA), part of its semi-cryogenic engine project, at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu.
- The engine fired smoothly and reached 60 percent power during the short run. The burn remained steady and well-controlled throughout.
- The successful third test shows ISRO is on track. Each ignition brings it closer to a more powerful, reliable launch system for future missions.
1834. UPI transactions rise 4.4% in May to 18.68 Bn
- On June 1, 2025, across India, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) reported that UPI transactions surged to 18.68 billion in May—registering a 4.4% monthly and 33% yearly growth in volume.
- The total transaction value rose to ₹25.14 lakh crore in May, marking a 5% month-on-month increase, with daily average volume and value reaching 602 million and ₹81,106 crore, respectively.
- PhonePe led UPI app usage with a 46.73% share, followed by Google Pay at 36%; together, they processed nearly 83% of all UPI transactions, while newer entrants like Jar began expanding into the digital payments market.

1835. Arunachal To Get India's First 263.5m Extradozed Bridge
- On June 2, 2025, Siddhivinayak Infra International Pvt. Ltd., in a joint venture with OJSC Euro Asian Construction Corporation, secured a Rs 1.24 billion EPC contract from the Border Roads Organisation to build India’s first 263.5-metre single-span extradozed bridge over the Siang River in Arunachal Pradesh, with a total bridge length of 386 metres.
- The project, which includes a 63.5-metre major bridge, aims to enhance defence logistics and regional connectivity, reducing travel distance by approximately 180 kilometres for military and civilian traffic in this strategically vital region.
- Assystem is handling detailed bridge design, with HMM Infra Ltd. supporting engineering execution, while geotechnical investigations and surveying are underway, marking a significant step for infrastructure resilience in the Northeast.

1836. Solar Panel Subsidy Scheme 2025, Get ₹25,000–₹60,000 Govt Discount on Rooftop Solar System
- On June 2nd, 2025, the central government reaffirmed subsidy benefits under the rooftop solar initiative (PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana), offering ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 for eligible households installing rooftop solar systems.
- The scheme targets Indian citizens aged 18 and above, providing 20%–50% subsidy depending on solar capacity (up to 5 kW), enabling affordable, self-reliant, and eco-friendly electricity generation at home.
- Applicants must submit documents like Aadhaar, PAN, electricity bill, roof photo, and income proof through a fully digital application process, making solar adoption accessible and streamlined for common households.

1837. Goa becomes India's second fully literate state under ULLAS Scheme
- Under the New India Literacy Program, also known as ULLAS-Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, Goa has been formally proclaimed a fully literate state.
- The announcement was made by Chief Minister of Goa on May 30, 2025, at the 39th Statehood Day celebrations at Panaji's Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir.
- With this accomplishment, Goa becomes the second Indian state to surpass the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's 95% literacy target. The state has joined the national effort to attain universal literacy by 2030.
- The PLFS Report 2023–24 states that Goa's literacy, Goa's literacy rate stood at 93.60%, among the highest in the country. However, the state’s recent survey shows that Goa has now crossed this mark and achieved full literacy.
- Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society, or ULLAS, is a central government program that will run from 2022 to 2027. It targets adults who are at least 15 years old and unable to attend or finish school.
1838. UPI transactions rebound in May with 18.68 bn payments; 33% yearly surge
- On 1 June 2025 it was reported that, UPI processed 18.68 billion transactions worth ₹25.14 lakh crore in May 2025, marking a 33% YoY growth in volume and 23% in value.
- The rebound follows a dip in April due to service disruptions, including a major outage on April 12 caused by excessive API requests from banks.
- NPCI has issued new API usage guidelines to banks and payment providers to prevent future system overloads and ensure stable UPI performance.

1839. Amit Shah inaugurates new building of Central Forensic Science Laboratory near Kolkata
- In Rajarhat, Kolkata Union Home Minister inaugurated the new Central Forensic Science Laboratory building to strengthen forensic and investigative infrastructure in eastern and northeastern India on 01 June 2025.

- According to a report by McKinsey & Company and BoF, published on 31 May, 2025, India will experience the fastest global increase in ultra-high-net-worth individuals, with their population expected to surge by 50% between 2023 and 2028.
- India’s luxury market is projected to grow significantly, driven by new luxury malls, demographic shifts, and higher import taxes encouraging domestic spending.
- India has overtaken Japan with a nominal GDP exceeding USD 4 trillion, while Japan’s luxury market growth remains moderate at 6-10%.
