23331. Economy coming on track at more speed than expected: Javadekar
- An increase in rail freight collection, higher goods and services tax mop-up, rise in power demand and improved FDI inows indicate that the economy was doing better in the second quarter of the current nancial year, he said..
- The pandemic-hit economy is coming back on rails at "more speed than expected", Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said citing factors like increased demand of power and higher GST collections.
- E-way bills (GST) have gone up almost 19 per cent in October and valued at 16.82 lakh crore. The railway freight was up by 15.5 per cent in September and almost 14 per cent in October.

23332. भारत का विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार रिकॉर्ड ऊंचाई पर, 560.715 अरब डॉलर पर पहुंचा आंकड़ा
- देश का विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार 183 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर की बढ़ोतरी के साथ 560.715 अरब डॉलर की रिकॉर्ड ऊंचाई पर पहुंच गया है. रिजर्व बैंक ऑफ इंडिया (RBI) ने ये डेटा 30 अक्टूबर को खत्म हुए हफ्ते के लिए जारी किया है. इससे पिछले 23 अक्टूबर को खत्म हुए हफ्ते में भंडार 5.412 अरब डॉलर की बढ़ोतरी के साथ 560.532 अरब डॉलर हो गया था.
- समीक्षाधीन हफ्ते में विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार में बढ़ोतरी की वजह फॉरेन करेंसी एसेट्स (FCA) में इजाफा रहा, जो कुल रिजर्व का बड़ा हिस्सा है. RBI के साप्ताहिक डेटा के मुताबिक, FCA 815 मिलियन डॉलर की बढ़ोतरी के साथ 518.339 अरब डॉलर पर पहुंच गया.
- फॉरेन करेंसी एसेट्स को डॉलर की टर्म में देखा जाता है. इसमें फॉरेन एक्सचेंज रिजर्व में रखे गैर-अमेरिकी यूनिट्स जैसे यूरो, पाउंड और येन में बढ़ोतरी और गिरावट का असर शामिल होता है.

23333. Economy expected to bounce back from next fiscal: SBI chairman
- The country's economy, which has shown resilience to come out from a downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, is expected to bounce back from the next fiscal, State Bank of India chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara said .
- Addressing the virtual annual general meeting of Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khara said,
- "The economy is expected to bounce back from the next fiscal starting from April 2021. The next normal will see a paradigm shift and some of them will be permanent."

23334. Covid-19: Canada receives 500,000 doses of Covishield vaccine made in India
- The first Canada-bound shipment of Covid-19 vaccines manufactured in India arrived in Toronto.
- A commercial consignment of 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine under the brand Covishield was sent by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII).
- It was received by its Canadian partner Verity Pharmaceuticals, located in the Greater Toronto Area town of Mississauga.
23335. Consignment of Made-in-India COVID-19 vaccines arrives in Rwanda
- A consignment of Made-in-India COVID-19 vaccines has landed in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda under the 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
- In a tweet, Jaishankar said, "Reaching out to Rwanda. Made in India vaccines land in Kigali. #VaccineMaitri."
- The Rwanda's Ministry of Health, Xinhua reported the country will kick off the vaccination exercise in hospitals and health centres.

23336. India delivers Made-in-India COVID-19 vaccines to Angola
- A consignment of Indian-made vaccines has been delivered to Angola under the 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
- Jaishankar tweeetd, "Landed in Luanda. Made in India vaccines delivered to Angola today. #VaccineMaitri."
- Angola has reported 20,854 COVID-19 cases and 508 deaths so far, according to Johns Hopkins University.

23337. France changes tack, allows Astra vaccine for under-75s
- France will allow people under 75 with existing health problems to get the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, the health minister said, departing from an earlier stance that the vaccine should be for the under-65s only.
- The reassessment is likely to help speed up France’s vaccination campaign which many have criticised as too slow.
- As 4.6 million people had received at least one shot of an AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine
23338. Nigeria receives over 3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from India
- India Nigeria received 3.92 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine 'Covishield' from the Serum Institute of India (SII).
- Indian High Commissioner Abhay Thakur joined Nigerian dignitaries led by Minister of Health Dr E Osagie Ehanire, at the arrival ceremony of vaccines.
- "HC Abhay Thakur joined Nigerian dignitaries led by Minister of Health Dr E Osagie Ehanire, at the arrival ceremony of 3.92 million doses of Covishield vaccines from SII today. It is the first vaccine approved by Nigeria and one of our largest vaccine consignments," India in Nigeria tweeted.
23339. First shipment of Covishield vaccine arrives in Cambodia from India
- Cambodia received its first batch of 324,000 coronavirus vaccine doses from India that are part of the World Health Organization's COVAX initiative.
- Cambodia received its first shipment of 600,000 doses of a Chinese-produced vaccine on 7 February
- Cambodia has recorded 844 cases of the coronavirus, with no deaths
23340. India extends a helping hand to Madagascar yet again; Sends food and medical supplies
- Malaria medicine and 1000 tonnes of rice are heading to the Indian Ocean island country. In a report released last November, the World Food Organisation Southern Madagascar has been impacted by devastating famine. This has forced the families who don’t have food to eat are eating insects
- India has recently donated advanced digital cobalt therapy machine Bhabhatron-II which can treat almost 50 cancer patients every day. This was inaugurated by Madagascar’s President Andry Nirina Rajoelina, in the presence of Indian Ambassador Abhay Kumar and that country’s Health Minister.
- Last year in March, as has been reported by Financial Express Online, 600 tonnes of rice on board the Indian Navy ship INS Shardul reached the port of Antisiranana as HADR assistance to that country which was dealing with heavy floods.
