22901. Govt mulling roping in 3-4 more firms to ramp up DRDO COVID-19 drug production
- the government is considering the involvement of three or four more firms to ramp up the production of the drug 2DG, developed by the DRDO for the treatment of COVID-19 patients and do away with its scarcity.
- In view of the situation, we are considering allowing 3-4 more firms to produce the drug using the DRDO patent for the drug, the sources said.In the first batch, manufacturers had supplied only 10,000 sachets and the supply is likely to improve only around mid-June.
- 2-DG has been developed by DRDO's Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), in collaboration with Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Hyderabad. Clinical trial results have shown that this molecule helps in the faster recovery of hospitalized patients and reduces supplemental oxygen dependence.
22902. State-Run CESL Launches Biggest Ever Tender Worth Rs 5,500 Crore For 5,580 Electric Buses
- New Delhi, Jan 20 (PTI) State-run Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) on Thursday launched the biggest ever tender worth about Rs 5,500 crore to procure as many as 5,580 electric buses including 130 double deckers.
- The cities to be covered under this 'Grand Challenge' are Bangalore, Delhi, Surat, Hyderabad, and Kolkata in the first phase. The first lot of e-buses are expected to hit the roads by July this year, it added.
- Through this 'Grand Challenge', CESL aims to deploy 5,450 single decker buses and 130 double decker buses. CESL intends to enhance its support to state governments in achieving their electric mobility targets as well as further build an infrastructure for electric mobility in the country.
22903. Six forts in Mumbai to be developed into tourist spots soon
- Six medieval and British-era forts in Mumbai will soon be developed as tourist spots and venues for cultural events by the state government.
- The forts covered under this project are in Bandra, Worli, Shivdi, Mahim, Dharavi, and Saint George. A final proposal for this would be sent to the government.
- The project is expected to cost around Rs 50 crore, as reported by the Hindustan Times. The forts will also get a sound-and-light show detailing the history of Mumbai, which can be accessed using a mobile app to prevent any noise pollution in the vicinity.

22904. Hyderabad to get its second-longest flyover by 2023
- Hyderabad will soon get its second-longest flyover, stretching over 4.048 kilometres on the Aramghar to Nehru Zoological Park route. Currently, the 11.6km PVNR Expressway is the longest flyover not just in the city, but also in the country.
- The upcoming bi-directional six-lane flyover, which is being built under the State government's ambitious Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) at an estimated cost of Rs 636.80 crore, is expected to be thrown open to the public by March 2023.
- This flyover also is being built by the GHMC under SRDP at an estimated cost of Rs 69 crore. The 690 metre-flyover will ease the traffic on the Bahadurpura Road.
22905. DRDO ने विकसित की एंटीबॉडी डिटेक्शन किट DIPCOVAN, जानिए क्या है इसकी खासियत
- रक्षा अनुसंधान एवं विकास संगठन (DRDO) ने बड़ी सफलता हासिल की है. उसने कही है की डीआरडीओ की लैब ने सीरो-निगरानी के लिए एंटीबॉडी डिटेक्शन-आधारित किट DIPCOVAN, DIPAS-VDx COVID 19 IgG एंटीबॉडी माइक्रोवेल एलिसा विकसित की है. यह किट 97 फीसदी की उच्च संवेदनशीलता और 99 फीसदी की विशिष्टता के साथ SARS-CoV-2 वायरस के न्यूक्लियोकैप्सिड (S&N) प्रोटीन का पता लगा सकती है.
- इसे वंगार्ड डायग्नोस्टिक्स प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के सहयोग से विकसित किया गया है, जो दिल्ली स्थित डेवलपमेंट और मैन्युफेक्चरिंग डायग्नोस्टिक्स कंपनी है. इसे वैज्ञानिकों द्वारा स्वदेशी रूप से विकसित किया गया. किट को दिल्ली के विभिन्न कोरोना अस्पतालों में 1000 से अधिक रोगियों के सैंपलों पर व्यापक सत्यापन किया गया.
- डीआरडीओ के अनुसार, पिछले एक वर्ष के दौरान प्रोडक्ट के 3 बैचों का सत्यापन किया गया. अप्रैल 2021 में ICMR द्वारा एंटीबॉडी डिटेक्शन किट को मंजूरी दी गई. इसके बाद मई में DIPCOVAN के मैन्युफैक्चरिंग और बिक्री व वितरण के लिए DCGI, CDSCO, स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय से नियामक मंजूरी मिली.

22907. CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) transfers the UV Disinfection technology to combat SARS-CoV-2 to 27 indigenous manufacturers
- There has been increasing evidence for airborne route of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 via aerosols which is now considered to be important by international agencies WHO, REHVA, ASHRAE and by health authorities in several countries
- The airborne transmission is a major risk in indoor settings. Significantly, research carried out by CSIR constituent labs, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB) and CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH) in September 2020 had demonstrated experimentally that SARS-CoV-2 viral particles could be detected in air even after 2 hours of exit of infected persons from a room and at distances much greater than a few meters as well(S C. Moharir et al.,2020)strengthening evidence of airborne transmission of the SARS-CoV-2
- The CSIR-CSIO developed product is tested for more than 99 % disinfection and could be used as a retrofit solution to Air Handling Units (AHUs) of buildings, transport vehicles and other spin off applications. The UV-C is energy efficient system, improves airflow through coils, enhances indoor air quality,requires less maintenance, easy to retrofit with any existing system having AHU ducts, and has low initial setup cost. The system comes with commercialized standards and certifications.

- During the ongoing second coronavirus wave, the Nari Sena thought of providing healthy, hygienic and delicious food to Covid-19 patients and set up kitchens at the houses of the members. Almost 100 women are working for this program
- This service has been available since April 29 this year in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Guntur cities in Andhra Pradesh; Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Siddipet.

22910. Jammu and Kashmir gets investment proposals worth Rs 17,000 cr
- Businessmen from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have expressed plans to invest in Jammu and Kashmir, with the government receiving investment bids totalling Rs 17,000 crore.
