22821. Pune: Electrification work on 173-km rail route complete

- As part of its efforts to expand and upgrade its infrastructure in a big way, Central Railway has completed rail electrification work on 173-km route for the financial year 2021-22.
- Railways had set a target of electrification of 418-km route for FY 2021-22. Work on remaining 245-km stretch is expected to be completed by March 2022. In addition, electrification of the 52-km Ausa Road-Latur Road route is also expected to be completed by June 2022.
- Electrification offers several advantages such as environmental-friendly mode of transport, reduced dependence on imported diesel fuel, haulage of heavier freight trains and longer passenger trains with high haulage capacity of Electric Locomotives leading to increased throughput, and increased sectional capacity by eliminating detention on account of traction change.

- Mechanical engineer Dhananjay Hegde from Karnataka has conceived a bag made from newspaper that uses unique stitching techniques and corn powder and can carry damp items and other things weighing up to 10 kilos
- He researched for environment-friendly and natural materials and found that corn resin or gum could act as a layer to waterproof the paper bags.
- The gum prevented the water from coming in contact with the paper and held liquids without allowing any penetration in the layer.

- महाराष्ट्र के एक किसान ने एक अनोखी मशीन बनाई है। बैटरी से चलने वाली इस मशीन से कोई भी आसानी से बिना अपने हाथ गंदे किए गोबर को इकट्ठा कर सकता है।
- इस मशीन को बनाने वाले बीड इलाके के किसान मोहन लांब को नेशनल इनोवेशन फाउंडेशन से पुरस्कार भी मिल चुका है।
- गोबर उठाने वाली मशीन को बनाने से पहले एक स्प्रेयर बनाया था, जिससे किसान आसानी से अपने खेतों में स्प्रे कर सकते थे।

- कैच द रेन: जैसलमेर में इस वर्ष पानी का घोर संकट है। पाकिस्तान की सीमा के करीब बसे एक गांव के पक्के घरों में बारिश के पानी को जमा करने के लिए टांके बनाए गए थे, यहां बारिश न बराबर हुई थी, लेकिन जो हुई उसको संजो लिया गया है
- पाकिस्तान की सीमा से महज 60 किमी दूर सम पंचायत समिति में रामगढ़ पंचायत के बंजारों की ढाणी में 11 बंजारे परिवारों के घरों में बारिश के पानी को जमा करने के लिए टांकों (water tank) का निर्माण किया गया है।
- एक टांके का क्षेत्रफल 1200-1300 वर्ग फीट है, जिसमें 5-6 लोगों के परिवार के लिए सालभर का पानी सुरक्षित हो सकता है लेकिन ये बारिश पर निर्भर करता है कि किस साल कितनी बारिश हुई।
- एक टांके (टंकी) की लागत करीब 84,500 रुपए है। इसमें 25 फीसदी लागत लाभार्थी परिवारों ने वहन की है। इसी साल मार्च में प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने 'जल शक्ति अभियानः कैच द रेन' अभियान की शुरूआत की थी।

- The startup has tied up with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to develop technology for a number of unmanned systems.
- NewSpace, a Bengaluru-based startup, was founded by an Indian Air Force veteran. The contract for swarm drones was awarded to the company after it outperformed other contenders in evaluation trials conducted by the Army last year in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar.
- The Army will use the drones to develop concepts for swarm operations and explore manned unmanned teaming.

- 1. Mumbai-based startup Robo Bionics helps amputees get hands that can touch and feel and help in daily chores.
- 2. Started in December 2016 by Llewellyn, Kumari Priyanka, Anil Nair, and Osden Mascarenhas, Robo Bionics has developed an affordable artificial hand that can touch and feel.
- 3. Grippy, the artificial arm created by the startup, costs between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3.25 lakh, which the founders claim is much lower than the available bionic arms in the market that starts from Rs 8 lakh. .
- 4. In the next 12-18 months, the startup wants to manufacture and sell 150-200 units in partnership with 15 partners across India.

- अजय कुमार जैस्वाल ने एक खास तरह का दाह संस्कार मॉडल बनाया है, जिसमें बहुत कम लकड़ियों का इस्तेमाल होता है।
- एक दाह संस्कार के लिए 300-400 किलो लकड़ियां चाहिए होती हैं।
- इस कारण, वनों पर प्रभाव पड़ता है। साथ ही, खुले में दाह संस्कार करने से वायु प्रदूषण भी काफी होती है
- अगर शव पूरी तरह से जल न पाए, तो इसे पानी में प्रवाहित किया जाता है। जिस कारण पानी भी दूषित होता है।
- इन्हीं सब परेशानियों को देखते हुए गोरखपुर की एक कंपनी साल 2016 में IIT BHU के मार्गदर्शन में ‘ऊर्जा अंत्येष्टि’ सिस्टम तैयार किया।
