2201. India’s First Private Railway Station with Premium Airport-Style Amenities
- On 7 April 2025 The redevelopment project of Rani Kamalapati station, executed through a public-private partnership, has established a benchmark and a model for other railway stations. Modeled after Germany’s Heidelberg railway station, Rani Kamalapati is recognized as India’s first world-class railway station.
- Indian Railways stands as one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, handling immense traffic and serving millions of passengers every day.
- Rani Kamalapati Railway Station is part of the West Central Railway Zone (WCR) and serves as the headquarters for the Bhopal railway division. Its transformation is a part of Indian Railways’ broader initiative to modernize the country’s train services
2202. HAL To Outsource Rs 25,000 Crore Work To Private Sector In Manufacturing Of 156 Light Combat Helicopters
- On 7 April 2025 The landmark approval of a Rs 62,500 crore deal for 156 Light Combat Helicopters (LCHs) by the Cabinet Committee on Security, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to outsource approximately Rs 25,000 crore worth of work to private sector companies,
- The contract with the Ministry of Defence was signed on the same day as the clearance, marking a major step towards strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing.
- The Light Combat Aircraft manufacturing model in this programme as well. The HAL would soon be issuing tenders for involving the private sector in a big way in the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) project.
2203. India, Sri Lanka ink 10 agreements including in defence, power, energy
- On 7 April 2025 India and Sri Lanka concluded crucial agreements on defence cooperation, electric grid connectivity and an energy hub at Trincomalee .
- The two sides finalised ten agreements for cooperation in areas ranging from digital transformation to debt restructuring and health and medicine and the two leaders virtually inaugurated the Sampur power project that is to be built with Indian support
- The memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a framework for defence cooperation, the first such agreement between the two countries, will institutionalise joint exercises, training and high-level exchanges

2204. Vande Bharat Express: Transforming India’s Rail Connectivity
- India's 10th Vande Bharat Express was flagged off on April 8, 2023, connecting Secunderabad to the pilgrimage city of Tirupati. Covering 660 km in just 8.5 hours, this semi-high-speed train enhances travel convenience between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
- Operating six days a week, it stops at key stations like Nalgonda, Guntur, and Vijayawada. With fares starting at ₹1,590 for chair car and ₹2,970 for executive class, it offers a faster and more comfortable journey for passengers.
- India now has 66 Vande Bharat Express trains operating across multiple states, with Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu having the highest number of routes.
2205. Tripura gets Rs 76.47 crore sanction for rural connectivity boost
- On April 6, 2025, the Ministry of Rural Development sanctioned Rs 76.47 crore to Tripura under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) to enhance rural connectivity, approving 25 roads spanning 84.352 km to boost the state’s infrastructure.
- This follows an earlier sanction of 42 roads covering 118.756 km with an investment of Rs 114.32 crore in Tripura, while Odisha also received Rs 69.65 crore for 26 roads (63.271 km) and two long-span bridges, with prior approvals of 66 roads and four bridges worth Rs 219.40 crore.
- The initiative aims to provide all-weather road connectivity to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in both states, improving access to healthcare, education, and markets, while fostering economic growth, trade, and employment opportunities in rural areas.
- According to the official release, these projects under PM-JANMAN will transform the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities, bridge gaps between remote villages and urban centers, and align with the government’s vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat) through inclusive development.

2206. Rs 119 crore tender issued for Shillong Airport expansion, CM calls project a ‘game changer’
- On April 5, 2025, a Rs 119 crore tender was issued for the expansion of Shillong Airport in Meghalaya to enhance air connectivity.
- Chief Minister called the project a “game changer,” highlighting its potential to boost tourism, economic growth, and accessibility.

2208. Delhi govt unveils ₹500 crore elevated road project
- ON 5 April 2025 he Delhi government has announced the construction of a 5.5-kilometer-long elevated road in the Pushta Sonia Vihar area, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the trans-Yamuna region.
- The project, with an estimated cost of ₹500 crore, has received approval from the Chief Minister and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister .
- The elevated road will stretch from Nanaksar Gurudwara to Shani Mandir (UP border), offering relief to thousands of daily commuters.
2209. Northern Zone Generates Record Revenue By Selling Scrap
- On 5 April 2025 The Northern Railway has set a record in scrap disposal by earning a revenue of Rs 781.07. This outperforms the Railway Board’s annual target of Rs 530 crore by 147.36 percent .
- The earnings have made the Northern Railway the only division to cross the scrap sale figure of Rs 700 crore.
- The fourth consecutive year when Northern Railway has registered total sales of more than Rs 600 crore and has been ranked first among all Zonal Railways and Production units for four consecutive years.
2210. Indian Railways and DMRC Sign MoU for Automatic Wheel Profile Measurement Systems
- On April 4, 2025, Indian Railways signed an important agreement with the Delhi Metro Rail Cooperation (DMRC). The goal is to install smart machines called Automatic Wheel Profile Measurement Systems (AWPMS) to check train wheels quickly and safely
- The Ministry of Railways said this is a big step in modern railway maintenance. It will help in reducing the time needed for checking and fixing trains.
- The overall quality of train services will also improved. With smart technology like AWPMS, trains were able to run more safely and on time.
