2181. Odisha Allots Land to INOXGFL for ₹4,000 Cr Solar Manufacturing Facility in Dhenkanal
- On 9 April 2025 In a major push toward clean energy and industrial growth, the Odisha Government has officially allocated land to INOXGFL Group for the establishment of a large-scale solar manufacturing facility in Dhenkanal district.
- The plant, with a proposed capacity of 4.8 GW for both solar cells and modules, marks a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy journey. Approved by the state’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), the project is backed by a ₹4,000 crore investment and will span across 78 acres.
- The facility will be equipped with world-class, future-ready technology and aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
2182. Indian Navy's indigenously-built stealth corvette INS Kavaratti commissioned
- On 22 October 2020 Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane commissioned the Anti-Submarine Warfare stealth corvette INS Kavaratti into the Indian Navy at the Naval Dockyard here.
- INS Kavaratti is the last of the four indigenously- built ASW stealth corvettes under Project 28 (Kamorta class) and has been designed by the Directorate of Naval Design, the Indian Navy's in-house wing.
- INS Kavaratti has a state-of-the-art weapons and sensor suite capable of "detecting and prosecuting" submarines.
2183. Indian Army inducts Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle
- Indian Army has formally inducted the first batch of next-generation Armored Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicles (AERV), indigenously designed and developed by state run firms DRDO and the Pune branch of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
- AERV is manufactured by BEL-Pune with more than 90% indigenous content. It is a versatile BMP-IIK amphibious Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) fitted with instruments for water reconnaissance, land reconnaissance, navigation and data backup.
- The vehicles were inducted into the Corps of Engineers at a ceremony held at Bombay Engineering Group (BEG), Pune.
2184. HAL delivers first LCA Tejas Twin Seater aircraft to IAF in Bengaluru
- On 4 October 2023,The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) handed over the first Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) twin-seater trainer version aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Bengaluru .
- LCA Tejas is twin seater a light weight, all-weather multi-role 4.5 generation aircraft, It is the smallest and lightest in its class of contemporary supersonic combat aircraft. It is designed to carry a range of air-to-air, air-to-surface, precision-guided, weapons .
- The LCA Tejas project is the largest Research and Development program ever undertaken in India, with its maiden flight dating back to 2001. It has achieved numerous milestones since then.
2185. Navy Chief unveils first indigenously manufactured UAV from Adani Defence & Aerospace
- Indian Navy-unveiled the Drishti 10 Starliner Unmanned Aerial Vehicle indigenously manufactured by Adani Defence and Aerospace at the company's Aerospace Park in Hyderabad.
- Drishti 10 Starliner is an advanced Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform with 36 hours endurance, 450 kg payload capacity.
- The navy chief lauded Adani's efforts in aligning their roadmap to the requirements of the Indian Navy and establishing an ecosystem of partners and capabilities to enable Aatmanirbharta in defence and security.
2186. Force Multiplier": India Successfully Tests Anti-Radiation Missile 'Rudram-II
- India successfully test-fired an air-surface anti-radiation missile from a Su-30MKI fighter jet. The Rudram-II anti-radiation supersonic missile is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- Rudram-II missile is the first indigenously developed anti-radiation missile designed to target enemy ground radars (surveillance, tracking) and communication stations in Suppression of Enemy Air Defence (SEAD) missions.
- Rudram-1 is India’s first indigenous anti-radiation missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The missile is designed to suppress enemy air defenses by targeting and destroying radar installations, communication sites, and other radio frequency emitting sources.
2187. First indigenous frigate Triput launched by Goa Shipyard Limited
- On 23 July,2024, In a significant milestone, Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) successfully launched the first indigenous P1135.6 Frigate. the vessel is the first of the two Frigates of the P1135.6 Class being constructed at GSL. It is the first time these vessels are being constructed indigenously.
- The 124-metre-long and 15.5-metre-wide ship is propelled by four gas turbines, designed to achieve a maximum speed of 28 knots at a displacement of approximately 3200 tonnes in P1135.6 Frigate.
- The ship was launched by Adv. Rita Sreedharan, in the presence of PS Sreedharan Pillai, Governor of Goa, the Chief Guest for the occasion.
2188. Army Chief launches 'Agniastra' multi-target detonation device during Gangtok conference
- On 11 October,2024, Indian Army Chief, launched "Agniastra," a portable multi-target detonation device,, the device holds "tremendous potential" for use in room interventions, remote bunker or hideout destruction, and reserve demolitions
- The device was developed by Major the Indian Army's Corps of Engineers and is seen as a major advancement in both conventional and counter-terrorism operations.
- The Portable Multi-Target Detonation Device, also known as WEDC, was specifically designed to improve the safety and reliability of multiple-target detonations, overcoming the limitations of the previously used Exploder Dynamo Capacitor, which had a limited range of 400 metres.
2189. Indian Army Introduces Hexacopter Drone Armed With Machine Gun
- On 11 may 2024, The Indian Army has introduced an innovative hexacopter drone that can be mounted with a machine gun to support combat operations.
- The Sirin Hexadrone, the cutting-edge platform was presented during an integrated small arms firing event for the service’s Western Command.
- Hexacopter drone is 1-kilogram (2.2-pound) payload capacity also enables it to accommodate an array of armaments — from small arms to grenades and mortars — to adapt to various combat scenarios.
2190. Assam Becomes India’s Third Fastest Growing State with 7.94% GDP Growth
- On April 8, 2025, Assam was declared India’s third-fastest growing state with a GDP growth rate of 7.94% at constant prices, a milestone Chief Minister celebrated on social media as evidence of the state’s effective developmental policies and investments.
- The state’s economic rise is driven by pro-investor initiatives and robust funding in infrastructure, institutions, and human capital, with per capita GSDP reaching Rs 1,58,807 in 2023–24, marking a 19% increase from the previous year, though still below India’s Rs 2,15,935.
- Government data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and the Reserve Bank of India shows Assam consistently surpassing national growth rates—13.4% in FY 2021–22 (vs. India’s 8.7%), 9.1% in FY 2022–23 (vs. 7.2%), and a projected high single-digit growth in FY 2023–24.
- CM highlighted this transformation as a shift from an “unthinkable” past, positioning Assam as a vital contributor to India’s economic landscape through strategic planning, making it a standout example of regional development fueled by sustained efforts across multiple sectors.
