2111. Two Bengaluru startups release powerful tech platforms on World Quantum Day
- On 16 April 2025 On the occasion of World Quantum Day, Bengaluru-based startups — QpiAI and QNu Labs — announced two new quantum technologies.
- QpiAI, one of the eight startups selected under the National Quantum Mission coordinated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), announced the launch of one of India’s most powerful quantum computers featuring 25 superconducting qubits bits (quantum bits).
- , QNu Labs launched QShield, described as the "world’s first platform" that enables seamless cryptography management across any environment. QShield offers an end-to-end solution for securing sensitive data both in transit and at rest.
- The startup’s products have been commercialised and delivered to organisations, including DRDO, Weapons and Electronic Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE), the Indian Army, BEL, and the Indian Navy.
2112. Centre Plans Rs 10 Lakh Crore Highway Projects In Next Two Years, Special Focus On Northeast And Border Areas
- On April 13, 2025, Union Minister announced a Rs 10 lakh crore plan for national highway projects over the next two years, prioritising Northeast and border areas to match US road standards.
- The initiative includes 784 projects covering 21,355 km in eastern India, costing Rs 3.73 lakh crore, with Rs 57,696 crore for Assam, Rs 90,000 crore for Bihar, and significant investments in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
- Union minister highlighted ongoing projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore in the Northeast (excluding Assam) and a Rs 170 crore mass rapid transport pilot in Nagpur using non-polluting buses, potentially expandable nationwide.
- India’s highway network has grown from 91,287 km in 2014 to 1,46,204 km, with only 9% now under two lanes, reflecting a major upgrade in infrastructure quality across states.

2113. Assam to launch NE's first hydroelectric project as part of Rs 12,000 crore Greenko investment
- On April 15, 2025, Assam announced plans to launch the Northeast’s first Pumped Storage Project (PSP), a hydroelectric system aimed at stabilizing the grid and meeting peak power demands.

2114. Karnataka govt, Bavaria sign MoU to boost ties in AI, biotech, more
- On 15 April 2025, The Karnataka government and the German state of Bavaria signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in key areas, including Artificial Intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology, Smart Cities, higher education, and sustainable agriculture, among others.
- The MoU was signed by Karnataka's Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M B Patil, and Dr Florian Herrmann, Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery.
- During the meeting, Herrmann was briefed in detail about Karnataka's robust industrial ecosystem and the various investment opportunities available in the state.
2115. Vande Bharat Trial Run Successful On Katra-Sangaldan Rail Stretch; Visuals Surface
- On 15 April 2025 A successful trial of the Vande Bharat express was conducted on the newly constructed Katra-Sangaldan railway link, which marked a major milestone in the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link(USBRL).
- The trail, conducted earlier this week, tested the trains speed, safety and route readiness ahead of the formal inauguration .
- The Vande Bharat Express, India’s flagship semi-high-speed train, will soon operate on this newly connected stretch, offering world-class amenities and significantly reducing travel time for passengers traveling to and from the Kashmir Valley.
- The USBRL project has been under development for years, involving some of the most challenging and complex railway construction work in the country. The terrain includes mountainous regions, deep gorges, and major river crossings, with the Chenab Bridge—currently the world’s highest railway bridge—being a major highlight of the route.
2116. Jupiter Secures ₹5 Billion for Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing Expansion
- On 15 April 2025, It was reported that, Kolkata-based solar cell manufacturer and solar solutions provider Jupiter International had secured a ₹5 billion (~$58.07 million) investment from ValueQuest SCALE Fund.
- The investment will be utilized to expand its manufacturing capacity. The company has a 1 GW facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. It plans to expand its total manufacturing capacity to 5.6 GW of solar cells and 2.4 GW of solar modules.
- According to Mercom’s Annual and Q4 2024 Solar Funding and M&A Report, global corporate funding in the solar sector in 2024 reached $26.3 billion, a 24% year-over-year decline from $34.4 billion.
2117. IIT Delhi, Micron tie up to power next-gen semiconductor research in India
- On 15 April 2025, The Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi) announced that it has partnered with Micron Technology, Inc. to promote advanced research in electronic materials and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven modelling.
- The collaboration, formed through IIT Delhi's Corporate Relations office, aims to strengthen the link between academic research and real-world industrial needs, especially in the fast-evolving semiconductor sector.
- The joint effort will focus on developing new solutions using modern technology and scientific knowledge to tackle major challenges in semiconductor manufacturing.

2118. Nagaland Launches Solar Mission Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme, Announces State Subsidy
- On 14th April 2025, Nagaland CM launched the Nagaland Solar Mission for residential rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in Kohima.
- At the launch, CM Rio said the solar mission aims to tackle Nagaland's power deficit, with the state offering additional subsidies to boost the green energy push.
- CM announced on X that Nagaland Solar Mission was launched to promote rooftop solar under #PMSuryaGharMuftBijliYojana, with total subsidies ranging from 96% (up to 2 kW) to 85% (up to 3 kW), including additional state support.

2119. JCBL Group Signs MoU With Slovakia To Co-develop Next-gen Combat Vehicle Tech
- On 15 April 2025 India and Slovakia have signed a Defence Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at co-developing and manufacturing advanced technologies for next-generation combat vehicles.
- The agreement was signed between Slovakia and Airbornics Defence & Space (ADSL), the defence subsidiary of India’s JCBL Group. the MoU was formalised during the ongoing state visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Slovakia, where she is accompanied by a high-level business delegation.
- The agreement marks the first defence partnership of its kind between the two countries, highlighting India’s growing role in global defence cooperation and indigenous manufacturing.
- Under the MoU, ADSL will be responsible for developing and manufacturing critical subsystems for Light Tanks, Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs), and Future Infantry Combat Vehicles (FICVs). These will include Turrets, Active Protection Systems (APS), Remote-Controlled Weapon Systems (RCWS), and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) modules.
