2091. Tata Power Solarises 230+ Public Institutions Across Maharashtra, Offsets 1.3 Lakh Tonnes CO₂
- On 18 April 2025 It was reported that, In support of the Maharashtra Government's solar initiative, Tata Power has solarized 230+ public institutions, adding 107 MW of clean energy—covering 100 hospitals (3.6 MW), 64 schools (2 MW), and 72 government buildings (100 MW).
- The installations are offsetting 1.3 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to planting 20 lakh trees.
- Tata Power has surpassed 1.5 lakh solar installations across India, reaffirming its position as the country’s No. 1 rooftop solar provider.
2092. 1.3GW ‘Make in India’ solarplant starts ops in Pokhran
- On 17 April 2025, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated a 1.3GW solar plant in Pokhran and cited the project as the best example of ‘Make in India' initiative as 90% of components and all the panels for the plant were manufactured in Rajasthan.
- Set up over 3,500 acres, the project developed by ReNew Power is estimated to meet the power needs of 5 lakh families in the state while creating job opportunities for 1,500 directly.
- State discoms will get power from the plant at Rs 2.18 a unit, one of the cheapest in the sector. Listing the benefits of solar power while highlighting Rajasthan's potential in the sector, Sharma said sources of green power are infinite, unlike conventional energy (thermal).
2093. India slams Pakistan at UNGA for its illicit remarks on Kashmir, intervention in internal matters
- India has slammed Pakistan for its baseless and deceitful narratives as Islamabad’s envoy here made references regarding Kashmir at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
- The minister in India’s Permanent Mission to the UN Pratik Mathur said on June 25, 2024. “Earlier in the day, the one delegation misused this forum to spread baseless and deceitful narratives which is not in surprise,”
- Pratik Mathur said I will not dignify these remarks with any response, just to save the valuable time of this august body.” His retort came after Pakistan’s UN envoy Munir Akram made references to Kashmir in his remarks from the General Assembly Podium during the debate.
- India has previously rejected Pakistan’s efforts to raise the Kashmir Issue at the International forums asserting that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was, is and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of the Republic of India and Pakistan has no locus standi to make statements and remarks regarding India’s domestic matters.
- Pakistan’s envoy Munir Akram has been slammed at various occasions, once by the former Indian Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj after he threw a jibe at PM Modi regarding surgical strikes inside Pakistan to kill terrorists who dared to launch attacks on India.

2094. India hits back at Pakistan PM over Kashmir statement at UNGA: 'Hypocrisy at its worst'
- India, in a strong Right to Reply on 27 September 2024, slammed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over his statement on Kashmir at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), describing it as “hypocrisy at its worst”.
- Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif urged India to reverse the abrogation of Article 370 to “secure durable peace.” He also asked India to enter into a dialogue for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security resolutions and the “wishes of the Kashmiri people.”
- Indian diplomat Bhavika Mangalanandan said a country run by the military, with a global reputation for terrorism, narcotics, trade and transnational crime, has had the “audacity to attack the world's largest democracy”.
- The Indian diplomat said. "The real truth is that Pakistan covets our territory and, in fact, has continuously used terrorism to disrupt elections in Jammu and Kashmir, an inalienable and integral part of India." Giving out a warning to Pakistan, India said the neighbouring country should realise that cross-border terrorism against India will “inevitably invite consequences”.
- Calling Sharif's remarks over Kashmir “unacceptable”, the diplomat said that Pakistan will seek to counter the truth with more lies. “Repetition will change nothing. Our stand is clear and needs no reiteration,” Bhavika Mangalanandan said. India has maintained that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are, and always will be an integral part of the country.

2095. India blasts Pak at UN over Kashmir remarks: In no position to lecture
- India on 26 February 2025 strongly rebuked Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) meeting in Geneva, dismissing its allegations of suppressing democracy and violating human rights in Jammu and Kashmir as "baseless and malicious".
- The Indian envoy hit out at the neighbouring country Pakistan, saying that Pakistan itself is plagued by human rights abuses and is in no position to lecture others and its "rhetoric reeks of hypocrisy". India countered the charges, citing the progress and development in the region, while also reiterating its sovereignty over Kashmir.
- Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi said, "India is exercising its right of reply in response to the baseless and malicious references made by Pakistan. It is regrettable to see Pakistan's so-called leaders and delegates continuing to dutifully spread falsehoods handed down by its military terrorist complex."
- Earlier, Pakistan's Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar claimed that there was a "continued denial of the right to self-determination of people" in Kashmir, in "violation of UN charters and resolutions and international law". He also claimed that human rights violations are happening in the region, which must be stopped.

2096. CISF, RRU sign MoU to boost training, innovation, and national security research
- On 16 April 2025, A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the CISF and RRU, a premier national security university under the ministry of home affairs, to “boost training, research, innovation, and capacity building for CISF personnel,” CISF said in a release.
- As per the terms of the MoU, RRU will provide a range of services, including strategic partnership in the areas of training, academic development in the security field and use of technology for the benefit of CISF personnel.
- The focus areas also include holding joint training programmes, undertaking research, encouraging innovation projects to develop new security solutions, and facilitating mutual access to subject experts and institutional resources.
2097. BluPine Energy Signs PPA with SECI for 150 MW Solar Project
- On 17 April 2025, BluPine Energy said the company has signed a power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 150 MW solar project.
- The SPV has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI for a 150 MW solar project integrated with an Energy Storage System (ESS) in Rajasthan.
- BluPine Energy is a leading renewable energy platform established in India by Actis, a global investor and leader in sustainable infrastructure.
2098. IIT Guwahati, HDFC Parivartan launch tech-based rural development initiatives in Assam, Meghalaya
- On 17 April 2025, The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, in collaboration with HDFC Parivartan, launched a series of technology-based rural development initiatives aimed at improving food and energy security, increasing farmer income, and building capacity among agricultural communities in the northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya.
- The programme, titled "Focused Development Program: Enhancing Agriculture & Residue-Based Enterprises via Community Organisations", includes the deployment of three core interventions along with infrastructure development and community mobilisation to support enterprise creation, especially among farmers and women.
- The first intervention is a biomass pellet production unit set up in Umnowe Village in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district, in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya.

2099. RVNL completes breakthrough of India’s longest railway tunnel
- On 17 April 2025 Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) completed the breakthrough of a 14.6km railway tunnel between Devprayag and Janasu in Uttarakhand, marking a significant milestone in the 125km Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail project.
- The tunnel, the longest transportation railway tunnel in India, was bored through the Himalayas using a new tunnelling method developed to meet the region's complex geological challenges.
- The project is a key step towards the Char Dham rail connectivity initiative. RVNL, through this achievement, reinforced its role as a leading infrastructure agency by pioneering modern construction technologies in one of India's most difficult terrains.

- On 16 April 2025 Prime Minister of india hailed the inauguration of Amravati airport and said it is news for Maharashtra, especially the Vidarbha region.
