2331. India Exports 254 Million Kg Tea, Surpasses Sri Lanka
- On 28 March 2025 India has surpassed Sri Lanka to become the world’s second-largest tea exporter with a record 255 million kg export in 2024, According to Tea Board of India data
- India, one of the top tea-consuming countries globally, consumes about 80 per cent of the tea it produces. Despite high domestic consumption, the country is among the top five tea exporters in the world and contributes about 10 per cent to global tea exports.
- Assam Valley, Cachar in Assam, Dooars, Terai, Darjeeling in West Bengal, and regions in Tamil Nadu, Kerala , and Karnataka are the key tea-producing regions in India.
- India’s tea exports have seen a 10-year high, up 10 per cent from 231.69 million kg in 2023 to 255 million kg in 2024. The export value has also grown 15 per cent to Rs 7,111 crores on account of higher prices. This growth has been driven by increased shipments to key markets like Iraq, the UAE, Iran, Russia, the USA, and the UK.

2332. Indian Army's brigade successfully tests kamikaze drone with anti-tank munition
- On 28 March 2025 In a first-of-its-kind project, the Indian Army's Fleur-De-Lis Brigade successfully tested a First Person View (FPV) drone equipped with an impact-based, kamikaze-role anti-tank munition.
- The Fleur-De-Lis Brigade has achieved a milestone in tactical drone warfare by successfully developing, testing, and validating an FPV drone equipped with an impact-based, kamikaze-role anti-tank munition--the first-of-its-kind project in the Indian Army.
- The FPV drone is developed in collaboration with DRDO's Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh.
- This initiative, launched in August 2024, has undergone extensive research, development, and trials to enhance the capabilities of low-cost, high-impact aerial strike systems.

2334. ISRO Gets First Production Lots Of New 'Made In India' Chips For Space Missions
- On 28 March 2025 India has achieved a major milestone in space-grade electronics with the development and deployment of two 32-bit microprocessors—VIKRAM3201 and KALPANA3201—designed specifically for launch vehicle applications.
- The VIKRAM3201, in particular, is the first fully indigenous, space-qualified 32-bit microprocessor fabricated in India.
- Designed by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) and manufactured at the 180nm CMOS fabrication facility of the Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL) in Chandigarh, the chip represents a generational leap from its predecessor—the 16-bit VIKRAM1601. semi
- VIKRAM3201 supports custom instruction set architecture, features floating-point computation capabilities, and has native high-level language support for Ada language. KALPANA3201 is a 32-bit SPARC V8 RISC microprocessor and is based on the IEEE 1754 Instruction Set Architecture.

2335. Bharat Forge signs ATAG deal with MoD
- On 28 March 2025 Bharat Forge signed the largest domestic contract with the Ministry of Defence for supplying 184 indigenously developed Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems (ATAGS).
- The order represents 60% of the Rs 6,900 crore procurement by the defence ministry. the 155/52 mm calibre ATAGS was jointly developed with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- The company has established a large defence manufacturing facility in Jejuri, near Pune, dedicated to the assembly and integration of guns, vehicles, small and medium arms, and systems.
2336. CPP Investments strengthens commitment to India with ₹2,080 crore investment in NHIT
- On 27 March,2025, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) announced a follow-on investment of ₹2,080 crore (C$346 million) in the units of National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT), an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) sponsored by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
- “India remains a strategic focus for CPP Investments, with infrastructure such as toll roads playing a key role in driving the country’s rapid economic growth.
- Following the transaction, NHIT’s total portfolio will span over 2,300 kilometres across 12 Indian states: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and West Bengal.
2337. India’s IT Industry Surges To $283 Bn In 2024-25
- India’s IT industry has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade, with its total revenue projected to reach USD 283 billion in the financial year 2024-25, up from USD 118 billion in 2014-15,
- The sector's export revenue has also surged significantly, increasing from USD 100 billion in 2014-15 to an estimated USD 224 billion in 2024-25, reinforcing India’s position as a global technology hub.
- The Indian government has played a pivotal role in driving this expansion through various policy measures and initiatives. These include the establishment of 67 Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centres, 100 per cent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the IT sector, and BPO promotion schemes to foster growth in smaller towns and cities.
2338. DRDO, Indian Navy Successfully Test-Fire Indigenous VLSRSAM
- On 26 March 2025,(DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully flight-tested the indigenously developed Vertically Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VLSRSAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha.
- Defence Minister congratulated DRDO, the Indian Navy, and industry partners, highlighting the missile as proof of India’s growing defence R&D capabilities.
- The test demonstrated the missile’s capability to engage ship targets, marking a significant leap in India’s indigenous naval strike capabilities.
2339. Make in India Shines: 10th ACTCM Barge Launched
- On 26 March 2025, the Ministry of Defence celebrated the launch of the 10th Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 24 (Yard 134), at M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane.
- The Barges, entirely indigenously designed and built in collaboration with an Indian ship design firm and the Indian Register of Shipping, exemplify the “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.
- The event marks another proud moment in India’s journey toward self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
2340. J&K: Over 46,800 homes built under PMAY-G in Poonch, beneficiaries share their stories
- On March 26, 2025, officials confirmed that 46,800 homes have been constructed in Poonch district under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY-G).
- The initiative has provided permanent housing to low-income families living in kutcha (mud) houses. More than 50 concrete homes were built in Noorkot, near the Line of Control (LoC), ensuring better living conditions for residents.
