2491. India's smartphone exports surge 54 pc to surpass Rs 1.75 lakh crore in April-Feb
- On 17 march, 2025, It was reported that smartphone exports crossed a staggering Rs 1.75 lakh crore (USD 21 billion) in 11 months of FY2024-25 (April-February) which constitutes a 54 per cent jump over the corresponding figure for the same period of FY2023-24, according to latest industry data.
- India's electronics goods exports, led by smartphones, have been accelerating in recent years on the back of government's production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme which has succeeded in attracting foreign tech giants such as Apple and its suppliers.
- Driven by the PLI scheme, the production of mobile phones has increased from about 60 million mobile phones in 2014-15 to about 330 million mobile phones in 2023-24.

2492. Shri Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates Butibori and Hingna Facilities in Nagpur
- March 17, 2025 Two fully operational service and supply hubs were launched at Butibori and Hingna in Nagpur. These facilities focus on repair, rebuild, and parts distribution, supporting industries like mining, construction, energy, and transportation. inaugurated by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India.
- The expansion aims to enhance service response times, reduce repair turnaround, improve parts availability, and lower total ownership costs for customers across India.
- The 14-acre facilities feature advanced Machine Rebuild Centers (MRC) and Component Rebuild Centers (CRC) with a high-efficiency warehouse, digitalized inventory management, and NABL-accredited testing labs. They can process 30,000+ parts, rebuild 150 machines, overhaul 750 engines annually, and employ over 250 skilled personnel.

2494. CSPDCL Moves Ahead With Procurement Of 500 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Power For Chhattisgarh
- On 17 March,2025, The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) has submitted a petition regarding the procurement of 500 MW of power from wind-solar hybrid projects. The proposed power will come from a larger 1,200 MW capacity of integrated wind-solar hybrid projects.

2495. Defence Ministry Signs Contract with BEL
- On 17 march 2025 The Ministry of Defence has signed a capital acquisition contract with Bharat Electronics (BEL), Ghaziabad, for the procurement of Low-Level Transportable Radar (LLTR).
- The contract, valued at Rs 29.06 billion, aims to enhance the country's indigenous defence capabilities. Designed and developed by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment, a division of theDefence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the LLTR (Ashwini) features advanced solid-state technology.
- The procurement of this radar system is expected to significantly improve the Indian Air Force's operational readiness. Additionally, it marks a crucial step towards reducing reliance on foreign defence equipment while fostering the growth of the domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem.

- The ‘Shri S Ramakrishnan Centre of Excellence in Fluid and Thermal Science Research’ will Support ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, promoting self-reliance in advanced space technologies as well as attract global talent and research funding. 2497. Chandrayaan-5 Mission Approved, To Carry 250 kg Rover
- On 17 march 2025 The Central government has approved the Chandrayaan 5 mission, and it will carry a whopping 250 kg rover to the lunar surface, said the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman V Narayanan.
- It will be the fifth flight as part of the Chandrayaan programme, also known as the Indian Lunar Exploration Programme, and aims for the exploration of the Moon.
- While Chandrayaan-3 carried a 25-kg rover named ‘Prayagyaan,' the new Chandrayaan-5 mission, in collaboration with Japan, will feature a much heavier 250-kg rover.

2499. Indian pharma rises to global prominence led by export boom and better compliance rates, McKinsey report reveals
- On February 27, 2025, A new report has revealed that India’s pharmaceutical sector that has risen in prominence as the largest supplier of generic medicines. ccording to McKinsey & Company’s latest report, this growth is driven by pharma exports growing faster than the global average,
- As of 2024, India has emerged as the world’s largest supplier of generic medicines, with a 9% pharma export growth rate, nearly double the global average. The country meets 20% of global demand, including over 40% of U.S. generic needs and 25% of medicines in the UK.
- India supplies over 60% of the world’s vaccines and 70% of global antiretroviral drugs for HIV treatment.

2500. Rajasthan launches accident insurance scheme for school students
- On 26 February, 2025, State Education and Panchayati Raj Minister introduced the Shiksha Sanjeevani Bima Yojana during a special event at Residency Girls Higher Secondary School in Udaipur.
- The first-of-its-kind scheme in the state, it provides personal accident insurance coverage of Rs one lakh to 1.3 lakh students in the government schools across Udaipur division.
- Objectives of the scheme include ensuring continuity in children's education, preventing child labour, promoting financial inclusion through Digital India, preventing misuse of insurance claim amounts, instilling a habit of saving from an early age and providing scholarships with interest until the child turns 18 in case of a parent's accidental demise.
