2461. Fitch Retains India's FY26 GDP Growth Forecast At 6.5%
- On 19 march,2025, It was reported that, Fitch Ratings has maintained India's gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for FY26 at 6.5 per cent while revising its FY27 projection upward by 10 basis points to 6.3 per cent, according to its March Global Economic Outlook report.
- India's Economic Survey has projected GDP growth in the range of 6.3–6.8 per cent for FY26. Official estimates peg GDP growth for the ongoing financial year at 6.5 per cent. Growth had slowed to 5.4 per cent in the July–September 2024 quarter before recovering to 6.2 per cent in the following quarter.
- Ratings revised its forecast for India’s economic growth in the next financial year to 6.5 per cent, up from 6.3 per cent this year, citing higher government capital expenditure and a boost to consumption from tax cuts and interest rate reductions.

2462. India-Made World's First Operational EV For Tactical Defence
- On 19 march 2025 Bengaluru-based EV startup Pravaig's all-terrain stealth vehicle, Veer -- the world's first operational EV designed for tactical defense use -- has undergone military trials and won the prestigious iDEX award from the Ministry of Defence.
- In a major step towards strategic autonomy, Pravaig has won the prestigious iDEX Award for its VEER Electric Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle (E-TATV) -- a cutting-edge, highly stealthy vehicle designed for forward patrolling, reconnaissance, and ISR operations," Pravaig Dynamics.
- Atima Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pravaig, won the iDEX Award by the Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO), under the aegis of the Department of Defence Production in the Ministry of Defence,
2463. India’s agricultural and processed food exports see strong growth in FY2024
- On 19 march,2025, It was reported that, India’s exports of agricultural and processed food products have experienced a significant 13 percent increase, reaching $22.67 billion during the April-February period of the current financial year.
- India’s tea exports have also hit a 10-year high, reaching 255 million kilograms in 2024, despite facing challenges from global geopolitical tensions.
- India’s major tea export markets include the UAE, Iraq, Iran, Russia, the US, and the UK, and the increase in both export volumes and average prices bodes well for the country’s position as a global leader in tea production and export.

2464. Govt clears ₹1,500 cr scheme to boost low-value BHIM-UPI transactions
- On 19 March,2025, The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister of India , approved an incentive scheme for the promotion of low-value BHIM-UPI transactions (person to merchant - P2M) for financial year 2024-25, with an estimated outlay of ₹1,500 crore.
- Under the scheme, incentives will be provided for UPI transactions up to ₹2,000, specifically benefitting small merchants. The government aims to increase digital payments penetration while minimising financial burden on merchants and consumers.
- The incentives are disbursed to acquiring banks, which further distribute them among other stakeholders, including issuer banks, payment service providers, and app providers.

2465. Copeland Strengthens India Commitment, Inaugurates New Engineering and Technology Center in Pune
- On 19 Febrary,2025 Copeland, a global provider of sustainable climate solutions, inaugurated a new state-of-the-art Engineering and Technology Center in Pune, Maharashtra, as part of its broader ₹500 crore India investment plan.
- The new facility spans over 15,000 square meters and is the hub for over 320 engineers specializing in engineering, research and development, as well as software and firmware development.

2466. 71 EV Startups That Are Helping Keep The Earth Healthy And Clean
- On 1 march 2025 EV startups are driving innovation in sustainable mobility, addressing challenges in charging infrastructure, battery technology, and affordability.
- In September 2024, the Union Cabinet launched the PM E-DRIVE Scheme with an INR 10,900 Cr budget for two years to boost electric mobility.
- India is also eyeing to slash import duties on premium EVs (priced above $35000) from 110% to 15%, but only for automakers meeting certain conditions
2467. Solar Industries and Subsidiary Secure ₹2,150 Crore Defence Product Supply Orders
- On 1 march 2025 Solar Industries announced that it, along with its subsidiary, has secured supply orders worth ₹2,150 crore for defence products .
- For the December quarter, Solar Industries reported a 55% increase in net profit, reaching ₹314.87 crore. Revenue for the period stood at ₹1,973.08 crore, marking a 38% rise from the previous year’s ₹1,429.14 crore.
- . EBITDA surged by 48% to ₹527 crore, up from ₹355.3 crore, with margins expanding to 26.7% from 25%. In December 2024, the company also secured another defence supply order valued at ₹2,039 crore, with a four-year completion timeline from international clients.
2468. Sonowal unveils initiative to enhance efficiency of major ports
- On 27 February,2025, union minister launched a series of major initiatives of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) aimed at modernising India’s maritime infrastructure, strengthening its global trade presence, and promoting sustainability.
- The minister launched the ‘One Nation-One Port Process (ONOP)’, an initiative to standardise and streamline operations across India’s major ports.
- Minister also launched Sagar Ankalan — the Logistics Port Performance Index (LPPI) for FY 2023-24, as a significant step towards enhancing efficiency and global competitiveness in India’s maritime sector.

2469. TP Solar bags Rs 632 cr order to supply 292.5 MWp solar modules from SECI
- On 27 February,2025, Tata Power said that its solar manufacturing arm TP Solar has secured an order worth Rs 632 crore for the supply of 292.5 MWp solar modules from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
- The contract, valued at approximately Rs 632 crore, entails the delivery of high-quality DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) modules to the designated site in Ramagiri, Andhra Pradesh, it added.
- The contract includes a total scope of 400 MWp DCR Modules, of which TP Solar has secured 292.5 MWp.
2470. Exclusive | IIT-Madras develops Shakti-based chip to power key Isro missions
- On 27, February,2025, IIT-Madras and the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) have successfully developed and booted an indigenous semiconductor chip named IRIS.
- The chip, part of the Shakti series of microprocessors, is based on the open-source RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) and marks a crucial step in reducing India's dependence on foreign semiconductor technology.
