2051. MEIL gets ₹3,000 cr order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India for 2 nuclear reactors
- Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) on 23 April 2025, said the company has received an order worth about ₹13,000 crore from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) for supplying two nuclear reactors of 700 megawatt (MW) each. The order marks MEIL's first step into the nuclear energy sector, the company said in a statement.
- MEIL said it has "formally received a purchase order for ₹12,800 crore from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) to construct two 700 MWe nuclear reactors -- Kaiga Units 5 & 6 -- in Karnataka."
- The order has been secured Quality-cum-Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) process route conducted by NPCIL.
2052. Optiemus Unmanned Systems launches four advanced drones
- Partners with Taiwan-based Avix Technology to jointly develop drone components in India,Optiemus Unmanned Systems (OUS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Optiemus Infracom On 23 April2025, announced the launch of four advanced drones.
- The drones - Marak VT100, Vajra QC55, Canister Launched Loitering Munition and First Person View (FPV) drones with optical fiber cable-based navigation capability- showcase the latest in unmanned aerial technology by providing solutions for a wide range of defense, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.
- In line with the vision of Make in India, OUS has also forged a partnership with Avix Technology, a Taiwan-based renowned drone developer and component manufacturer, to jointly develop, manufacture, and assemble high-performance camera systems, gimbals, and related drone components in India to meet the specific needs of the Indian defense and related sectors.
2053. Centre fast-tracks 17 mega infra projects worth Rs 14,096 crore across 4 states
- On 23 April 2025, It was reported that, The Centre has accelerated work on 17 major infrastructure projects worth over ₹14,096 crore across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, as part of its ongoing efforts to boost development and streamline project execution.
- The projects were reviewed in a high-level meeting chaired by Amardeep Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) framework. According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the meeting brought together senior officials from central ministries, state governments, and project developers to assess and address key implementation challenges.
- A total of 19 issues affecting these 17 projects were taken up during the review. The discussion focused on resolving delays through stronger inter-ministerial and inter-state coordination. One of the significant projects reviewed was the four-laning of the Jaunpur-Akbarpur road, estimated at ₹3,164.72 crore.

2054. Indian Navy Expands Its Logistics Fleet With ACTCM Barge For Warship Replenishment
- On 23 April 2025 Inducted the tenth Ammunition-Cum-Torpedo-Cum-Missile (ACTCM) Barge, designated LSAM 24 (Yard 134), at a ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
- The ACTCM barges are designed to support the Navy’s operational requirements by facilitating the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of critical supplies such as ammunition, torpedoes, and missiles to naval platforms.
- The operations can be conducted both alongside jetties and in outer harbours, thereby enhancing the Navy’s logistics flexibility and rapid response capabilities.
2055. India, Saudi Arabia sign several MoUs to enhance cooperation
- On 23 April 2025 An MoU was signed between the Saudi Space Agency and the Department of Space of India on cooperation in the field of space activities for peaceful purposes.
- An MoU between the Saudi Arabian Anti-Doping Committee (SAADC) and the National Anti-Doping Agency, India (NADA) on Cooperation in the field of Anti-Doping Education and Prevention was signed between both parties.
- The expanding defence ties - including joint military exercises, training programs, and collaboration in the defence industry - the leaders announced the creation of a new Ministerial Committee on Defence Cooperation. Additionally, recognising the increasing cultural and social engagement between the two nations, the Council established a new Ministerial Committee on Tourism and Cultural Cooperation.

2056. NISE Launches Advanced Solar Test Lab To Power India’s Clean Energy
- On 23 April 2025 Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, recently inaugurated a new PV Module Testing and Calibration Lab at the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) in Gwal Pahari, Haryana.
- This new facility is seen as a significant step towards improving India’s solar energy capabilities and global competitiveness. During the event, Shri Joshi said that the lab would set global benchmarks in solar research and development, testing, training, and policy support. He noted that this new development would help India move closer to self-reliance and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
- The lab is also aligned with BIS standards and will play a key role in strengthening the government’s Production Linked Incentive scheme, which aims to boost domestic manufacturing.
- India’s installed solar power capacity has increased dramatically from just 2.82 GW in 2014 to over 106 GW2025.
2057. Vaishnaw Inaugurates VVDN's Largest Surface Mount Technology Line & Mechanical Innovation Park In Manesar
- On 19 April 2025, it was reported that, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, inaugurated of VVDN Technologies' new facilities in Manesar, Haryana, the Minister revealed that electronics production in India has increased fivefold, reaching Rs. 11 lakh crore, while exports have grown sixfold to over Rs. 3.25 lakh crore.
- The announcement came alongside news that the Cabinet has approved a New Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, which aims to deepen India's integration into global electronics value chains.
- Union Minister highlighted the growing strength of India's design ecosystem, noting that the VVDN facility hosts over 5,000 engineers working on complex, AI-embedded systems. He emphasized that India now possesses the talent to both design and manufacture sophisticated electronic products, giving the country a competitive edge.

2058. Investment pacts worth Rs 5,700 inked for Maharashtra’s Vadhavan Port
- The Vadhavan Port on 21 April 2025, signed major pacts worth Rs 5,700 crore for the proposed facility in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The deals signed in the presence of Union Shipping Minister and Minister of State comprise the construction of a dedicated terminal for chemical products and a specialised jetty for liquid cargo.
- The port, which is set to become India’s 13th largest container port, is being constructed with an estimated overall investment of Rs 76,000 crore and will have nine terminals. Of these, two terminals are specifically designed for the handling of liquid and related cargo.
- Significant among the agreements is a Rs 4,200-crore investment pact with Gandhar Refineries for the establishment of a terminal that will solely handle large-scale cargo, containers, and liquid chemicals.
2059. "We have written new definition of development": Haryana CM inaugurates Ghaggar river bridge
- On 20 April 2025 it was reported that, Haryana Chief Minister had inaugurated a newly constructed bridge over the Ghaggar river in Panchkula district and said that the development works were being carried out speedily in the state. He added that the government has written a new definition of development in the past decade.
- "By laying the foundation stones of small projects, development becomes fast-paced. Ever since PM Modi's double-engine government came to power in Haryana...along with Panchkula, Haryana's direction and condition have changed. Haryana Chief Minister said.
- In the past 10 years, we have written a new definition of development. The conditions of roads are such that it takes only about three to four hours to reach the other end of the state, Haryana Chief Minister said.
2060. Megha arm, CARACAL open small arms manufacturing facility in Hyderabad
- On 22 April 2025 Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd group company, ICOMM Tele Ltd, in collaboration with UAE-based small arms manufacturer CARACAL, which is part of EDGE Group, has kicked off a small arms manufacturing facility at ICOMM's integrated engineering facility in Hyderabad.
- The exclusive facility has been set up as part of a transfer of technology (ToT) between CARACAL and ICOMM and marks the first ever ToT for defence articles from UAE to India.
- The new facility will serve as a local manufacturing hub for advanced weapons under a technology transfer agreement with the UAE-based player and will produce CAR 816 close-quarters battle rifle, CAR817 assault rifle, as well as CSR338, CSR 308, and CSR 50 bolt-action sniper rifles.
- The facility will also make CMP9 submachine gun and Caracal EF and Caracal F Gen II combat pistols. The arms manufactured will cater to the Indian armed forces, central armed police forces (CAPFs), special forces, state police forces, and SPG, while also catering to the global export requirements of CARACAL.
