2061. NTPC Signs 300 MW PPA with Brookfield’s Evren to Advance Solar-Backed Renewable Development
- On 22 April 2025 In a significant development for India’s solar power landscape, Evren, a renewable energy platform launched by Brookfield in India, has entered into a 300 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned energy leader NTPC Ltd.
- Under the PPA, Evren will develop nearly 1 GW of renewable energy infrastructure, including large-scale solar PV projects, supported by wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Solar is expected to account for a substantial portion of the total capacity, reinforcing India’s mission to scale clean power generation and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. e project aims to provide consistent and reliable energy to the grid, overcoming the intermittency challenge of solar generation. The solar capacity developed through this agreement will contribute significantly to NTPC’s growing portfolio of non-fossil energy assets.
- The agreement centers on boosting firm and dispatchable green energy, with solar energy playing a leading role in the generation mix.
2062. ISRO successfully docks two satellites, power exchange starts
- On 20 April 2025 , Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully docked two low-orbit satellites — SDX-01 and SDX-02 (Target and Chaser) -- as part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX)
- The SpaDeX mission and now the exercise of transfer of energy is more crucial and difficult because the spacecraft are small. “These are 220kg, low-orbit satellites and are not easy to handle
- The scientists are now monitoring the transfer of energy from one satellite to the other. “This work is more crucial than docking and undocking. The success and progress of transfer of energy, which is also one of the parts of the experimental mission, will decide the future course of action of ISRO’s missions

2063. Leather & Footwear Exports Surge 25% to USD 5.7 Billion
- The country's leather, non-leather footwear and products' exports rose by about 25 per cent year-on-year to USD 5.7 billion in 2024-25 and the shipments are likely to cross the USD 6.5 billion mark this fiscal, exporters' body CLE said on 21 April 2025.
- The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) said that demands in both developed and developing countries are "healthy". The sector has the potential to reach a total turnover of about USD 39 billion by 2030, which includes domestic production of USD 25 billion and export turnover of USD 13.7 billion, according to the industry.
- "In 2024-25, we have exceeded the exports target by USD 1 billion set up by the department of commerce and going by this trend, our exports will cross USD 6.5 billion in 2025-26," CLE Executive Director R Selvam said.

2064. India Bolsters Defence Exports, Ships Second BrahMos Batch To Philippines Via Sea
- On 20 April 2025 India has successfully dispatched the second batch of its advanced BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system to the Philippines. Unlike the first delivery made via an Indian Air Force transport aircraft .
- The shipment is being sent through sea routes, showcasing India's expanding logistics and delivery capabilities in the defence export sector. This milestone marks continued progress in the $375 million defence agreement signed between New Delhi and Manila in 2022
- The deal includes the delivery of three complete BrahMos missile batteries, along with associated launchers, command and control systems, and other related equipment. With the second battery now en route by sea, India is not only fulfilling its contractual obligations but also demonstrating flexibility in logistics and defence diplomacy.
2065. NexGen Energia secures $1 billion from Capital Edge to expand CBG infrastructure across India
- On 21 April 2025, It was reported that, Renewable energy company NexGen Energia Ltd has secured $1 billion (approx. ₹8,500 crore) equity investment commitment from Kuwait-based Capital Edge to scale up its Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) infrastructure in India, the company said.
- The funding will support the Noida-headquartered firm’s goal of setting up 1,000 CBG plants across the country by 2026. NexGen Energia is among India’s key players in the CBG space and plans to use the investment for plant development, technology integration, and supply chain expansion.
- Industry estimates suggest the development of 1,000 CBG plants could create over 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. Each plant also contributes to methane emission reductions and waste management.
2066. SpaDeX Mission: ISRO successfully executes docking of satellites for second time
- On April 21, ISRO successfully completed the second docking of satellites SDX01 (Chaser) and SDX02 (Target) under its Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX), as announced by Union Minister of State for Science and Technology.
- Glad to inform that the second docking of satellites has been accomplished successfully. As informed earlier, the PSLV-C60 / SPADEX mission was successfully launched on 30 December 2024.
- Thereafter the satellites were successfully docked for the first time on 16 January 2025 at 06:20 AM and successfully undocked on 13 March 2025 at 09:20 AM.
- The demonstration of this technology is essential for future missions, such as sending an Indian astronaut to the Moon, returning samples from the Moon, and the building and operation of the Indian Space Station.
2067. Yogi Adityanath Approves Over Rs 700 Crore For Key Road Projects In Gorakhpur To Boost Four-Lane Connectivity
- On 21 April 2025 It was reported that, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister On 20 April 2025, conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing Herbert Bandha Four-Lane Road project in Gorakhpur and announced the approval of infrastructure works worth over Rs 700 crore,
- The project rollout consists of three main parts: a new railway overbridge at Domingarh with a budget of Rs 132 crore; a 10 km section from Domingarh to Mahesara via Madhopur estimated at Rs 380 crore; and a 4 km four-lane stretch from Rajghat Bridge to Domingarh costing Rs 195 crore.
- With a combined investment of more than Rs 700 crore, the CM stated that the three projects will improve transportation and facilitate travel in and around Gorakhpur.

2068. Noida-based co. builds IT park, unveiled by President Kovind in Swaziland
- President of India Ramnath Kovind and Prime Minister of Swaziland Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini unveiled Royal Science and Technology Innovation Park in Phocweni, Swaziland on Apr 10, 2018.
- The park has been constructed by a leading Noida-based Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Company - Angelique International Limited (AIL).
- The US$ 20 million (INR 130 crore) IT park, financed by the Government of India under bilateral cooperation, is aimed to assist Swazi Government’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through use of information technology.

2069. India grants free aid to build convention center in Ukulhas
- On 22 May 2019, It was reported that, Foreign Ministry said that as part of the MVR 100 million in free aid from India to the Maldives, the Indian government has granted MVR 7,806,900.00 to build the convention center.
- The objective of the project is to provide a venue for the local council, guest house owners and business communities to host conferences thereby promoting MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism.
- The grant assistance has been provided through the MVR 100 million granted to the Maldives by the Government of India during the visit of the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj in March 2019.
2070. Jaishankar inaugurates convention centre in Niger dedicated to Gandhi
- On Jan 22, 2020 It was reported that, A $56-million convention centre dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the first such structure established in Africa by India, has been inaugurated in Niger by external affairs minister S Jaishankar and Nigerien President Mahamadou Issoufou.
- The Mahatma Gandhi International Convention Centre (MGICC) is a “landmark for India-Niger friendship” and a “symbol of India’s firm commitment towards Africa”, the external affairs ministry said.
- The MGICC is also the first centre to be built in Africa by India to honour the memory of Gandhi, whose 150th birth anniversary was observed last year.
