- On October 18, 2025, ISRO announced that Chandrayaan-2’s orbiter made the first direct observation of solar wind interacting with the Moon’s surface, revealing chemical changes in the lunar regolith through its X-ray spectrometer.
- The data shows solar wind particles subtly alter the Moon’s surface composition- offering the first direct evidence of how solar activity shapes lunar evolution and improves scientific models of the Moon’s environment.
- Despite the lander’s crash, Chandrayaan-2’s orbiter continues to deliver groundbreaking results, cementing India’s leadership in lunar exploration and supporting future resource-based missions.

872. KAVACH Lab Model Inaugurated at NFR’s Signal & Telecom STC to Strengthen Railway Safety Training
- On October 18, 2025, Northeast Frontier Railway GM Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inaugurated a state-of-the-art KAVACH Lab Model at the Signal & Telecom Training Centre in Pandu, Agartala.

873. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, CM Yogi Flag Off First BrahMos Missile Batch From Lucknow Unit
- Defence Minister and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh On October 18, 2025.
- Defence Minister said that country is making its mark in the defence manufacturing sector and many countries are now interested in technical association with India. He said that recently the Brahmos team has signed contact with two countries worth four thousand crore rupees.
- The Lucknow BrahMos unit is the first facility in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor where the entire process, from missile system manufacturing to final testing, is carried out indigenously. During the event, the Defence Minister and the Chief Minister inaugurated the Booster Building and witnessed a demonstration of the booster docking process.

875. India overtakes China as IAF becomes third most powerful air force, check rankings of US and Pakistan
- On 16 October,2025, It was reported that, According to the World Directory of Modern Military Aircraft (WDMMA), the Indian Air Force has overtaken China to become the world’s third most powerful air force, following the US and Russia.
- The IAF’s TruVal Rating (TVR) is 69.4, reflecting a balanced fleet of fighters (31.6%), helicopters (29%), and trainers (21.8%), with advanced aircraft like Rafales, Su-30 MKIs, and Tejas, compared to China’s larger fighter-heavy composition.
- TVR measures air force strength based on aircraft quantity, capabilities, modernization, support, readiness, and fleet effectiveness. Greater weight is given to special-mission units, bombers, CAS, training, local industry, inventory balance, and operational experience.

877. Assam cabinet Approves Sattra Preservation Bill, Hikes DA To 58%
- On October 16, 2025, the Assam cabinet approved the Assam Sattra Preservation and Development Commission Bill, 2025, to protect Vaishnavite heritage and ensure the preservation of Sattras and their lands in Assam.
- Chief Minister stated the commission will combine traditional reverence with modern governance, exercising quasi-judicial powers to safeguard cultural and economic interests of Sattras across the state.
- The cabinet also approved a three percent increase in Dearness Allowance and Relief from July 1, 2025, raising total DA for government employees and pensioners to 58 percent.

878. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Unveils First Tejas LCA Mk1A from HAL’s New Nashik Production Line
- On 17 October, 2025, Defence Minister unveiled the first Tejas LCA Mk1A fighter jet and inaugurated a second HTT-40 trainer aircraft production line at Hindustan Aeronautics’ Nashik facility.
- Defence Minister highlighted HAL Nashik’s role in advancing India’s defence self-reliance. The Tejas Mk1A maiden flight showcases domestic production capabilities, reducing dependence on imported defence equipment from 65–70% pre-2014 to 35% today.
- The Tejas Mk1A is a 4.5-generation multi-role fighter designed to replace MiG-21s, with enhanced combat avionics, air-to-air refuelling, and versatile weapons for air defence, ground attack, maritime strike, and reconnaissance missions.
879. India’s next-gen acoustic research ship one more step close to reality
- On October,15, 2025, GRSE laid the keel for a 93-metre advanced acoustic research ship (ARS) at its Kolkata yard, built for DRDO’s Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory to strengthen India’s naval research and self-reliance.
- The ceremony was attended by DRDO Chairman Dr Sameer V. Kamat, senior Navy and GRSE officials. The ship will serve as a state-of-the-art platform with sonar, survey, and acoustic systems for underwater research and oceanographic studies.
- The 93m × 18m ARS features diesel-electric propulsion (4–12 knots), 30-day endurance, 4,500 nautical mile range, 120-personnel capacity, dynamic positioning, and acoustic-silent design. It supports sonar calibration, noise analysis, and high-resolution underwater data collection under India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
880. Railway Minister Vaishnaw inaugurates new platforms, and integrated passenger information system in Jaipur
- On October,16,2025, Union Railway Minister inaugurated new platforms, upgrades, extensions, and an integrated passenger information system at 65 small and medium railway stations across Jaipur, Rajasthan, along with printed blanket covers for Jaipur-Asarwa Express AC passengers.
- Union Railway Minister highlighted that pilot initiatives like Sanganeri-printed blanket covers and station upgrades aim to enhance passenger experience, with improvements across Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Bikaner divisions, ensuring better safety, comfort, and accessibility at small and major stations.
- Station developments include platform height adjustments, modern signboards, and information systems. The pilot program may expand nationwide if successful. Dignitaries like Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari and Jaipur MP Manju Sharma praised the initiatives as transformative for Jaipur stations.
