- Greater Noida-based EV startup Gemopai aims to tap into the growing market for electric vehicles in India, with three models on offer.
- With an aim to ease last-mile commute woes, reduce pollution, and tap into the growing market for electric two-wheelers in India, a Greater Noida-based startup is developing electric scooters for the country.
- Started in 2018 by Amit Raj Singh and Kshitij Kumar, Gemopai is a joint venture between Delhi-based Goreen E-Mobility and Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Opai Electric. “During my 12 years of stay and doing business in China, I got a chance to witness the transformation of their two-wheeler industry into all-electric due to rising pollution levels,” says Amit.

- Greater Actor Shreyas Talpade, known for his stellar act in movies like Iqbal and Dor, as well as comic turns in the Golmaal series and Om Shanti Om, has announced the launch of his over-the-top (OTT) startup, Nine Rasa, exclusively for theatrical and stage performances.
- Even as 2020 became the year of reset due to the pandemic for almost everyone, Shreyas says he is thankful, for “it showed me my true potential.”
- “From the time I did Iqbal, I have been so caught up with films that I have missed out on 150-odd plays in various languages,” he says. “As the show would possibly happen in one part of India, I would be shooting in another part of the country, or I wouldn’t be in India at all. Thus, I felt that there would be people like me who would want to see or be part of these shows and not necessarily be present offline to do so.”

- Founded by two homemakers (Ami Baxi and Deepika Lakhani, residents of Ahmedabad) passionate about cooking, the online platform enables people to discover and buy regional, homemade snacks. The startup will soon begin operations in Canada and the UK.
- The website, launched in October 2020, enables home chefs to sell homemade snacks, pickles, organic oils, chocolates and baked goods on the platform, helping them earn some extra money doing what they love doing, or what they at least do every day.
- The duo invested Rs 20 lakh of their own money in the startup, and their current sales revenue is invested back into the company. The startup has over 30 home chefs selling their products on the platform already.

- Biofuels Junction Pvt Ltd, started by Ashvin Patil and Chaitanya Korgaonkar in 2016, provides corporate entities access to quality biomass briquettes and pellets, along with a supply assurance. These briquettes and pellets made from agricultural and wood waste are increasingly being used as fuel by various types of manufacturing plants.
- Ashvin got together with Chaitanya to launch Biofuels Junction as an aggregator platform that serves as a crucial link between suppliers and users of biofuel.

- Tirunelveli-based grocery startup RuralBasket has reaped the benefits of COVID-19, which created huge tailwinds in the farm-to-home retail segment. Now, it is targeting a turnover of Rs 100-crore by 2025.
- Founded in 2018 as RuralShop — an online marketplace for farmers, artisans, weavers, and rural industries to list their products and find customers — the platform shifted focus to food and grocery, and rebranded itself as RuralBasket in March 2019.
- RuralBasket sources organically grown products directly from farmers; grades, packs, and stores them in its warehouses; sells online and through RuralBasket retail stores, and delivers to customers’ doorstep using its own logistics fleet. Essentially, it is a full-stack “click-and-mortar” food retailer.

- Health education startup Virohan has trained over 1,500 students to serve COVID-19 patients. The training programme was launched in April 2020 to address the lack of skilled healthcare workers.
- Gurugram-based health education startup Virohan also stepped up its game to help India fight the COVID-19 crisis. The startup was founded in 2018 by Kunaal Dudeja, Nalin Saluja, and Archit Jayaswal, with an aim to provide trained allied healthcare practitioners (AHPs) such as OT technicians, medical lab technicians, and X-ray technicians, among others.
- We developed COVID-19 training content in the form of easy to understand videos – in vernacular language – along with short quizzes. The content has been updated with the latest information from WHO and MHFW,” Kunaal tells YourStory.

- Hocomoco was founded in 2017 by Sripad when several of his friends found property renovations to be a challenge.
- Hocomoco is focused on getting some order into the construction industry by targeting a niche market. Customers often face multiple problems such as price fraud, material theft from project site, and project cost overruns, while dealing with different departments involved in a construction project. Customers also face difficulties in evaluating the quality of the structure. To solve these set of issues, Hocomoco started providing solutions like digital tracking and insured work done on the structure. It offered 100 percent transparency in the material used and presented a complete cost breakup.

- Set up by Devendra Sharma when he was 18, Jaipur-based startup OLE Rooms allows one to rent flats, paying guest houses, and hostels for a day to over a year.
- An inability to find an accommodation as an engineering aspirant in Kota, coupled with a medical emergency, led 18-year-old Devendra Sharma to start an online marketplace for renting flats, paying guest houses, and hostels for as low as Rs 199 a day.
- “I and my father kept looking for rooms all day long,” says Devendra. “But my father, who had blood pressure and diabetes, collapsed and I had to rush him to a hospital in Kota.”
