21431. IAS Officer Has The Best ‘Return Gift’ For Those Who Dump Garbage on Street Corners
- Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada city Municipal Commissioner, IAS Swapnil Pundkar, has devised a rather innovative method to deal with the city’s garbage littering issue. Here, after due verification of facts, if a household is found dumping garbage on the streets, or in places where it should not, the Municipal Commissioner and his team tracks down the culprit and ensures that it is sent right back to the house, as a “return gift” from the city.
- Swapnil have identified places that are GVP and are working towards ensuring that we change that,” says Swapnil. In Kakinada, when Swapnil took charge in June 2020, there were almost 150 GVPs and with consistent work over the last five months, they have reached 50 GVPs.
- Swapnil is confident that this initiative will help in bringing about the much-needed change in mind-set. “If everyone starts to follow the rules, even the few who want to deviate will think twice”.
21432. Amputee Cyclist Helps Rehabilitate Over 1000 BSF, CRPF Jawans Injured in Line of Duty
- Aditya Mehta, a below-knee amputee, is working with the Border Security Force (BSF) to scout talented youngsters with physical disabilities who will represent India in the 2024 and 2028 Paralympic Games. The Aditya Mehta Foundation (AMF) has 200 beneficiaries who have received prosthetic limbs and customised adaptive devices for various sports.
- In November 2019, his foundation opened Asia’s first 5,000-square-foot Infinity Para-Sports Academy & Rehab Center at Begumpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad with a ll training facilities, food, lodging and even adaptive devices. In his Infinity 2020 ride from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on cycle ,he is joined by Harinder Singh, a BSF soldier turned para-cyclist and former BSF Jawan and Asian Para Cycling Championship bronze medallist, Gurulal Singh.
- Over 100 para athletes have benefited from the foundation so far, and the 33-year-old Aditya has counselled more than 1,000 serving personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), which includes the BSF, ITBP, CRPF and SSB, seriously injured in the line of duty and suffering from a whole range of physical disabilities. The foundation has set a mission to win 100 medals in the 2021 Paralympics.
21433. Rs 87.65 Cr released till date for NSU : Thakur
- The Government has released a total of Rs 87.65 crore till date for the development of the National Sports University in Manipur, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
- "The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has released a total fund of Rs 87.65 crore till date including Rs 5.49 crore during current Financial Year 2021-22 for establishing/construction of main campus and for functioning of temporary campus in Manipur," Thakur said.
- National Sports University, established in Manipur, is aimed at promoting education in the areas of sports sciences, sports technology, sports coaching, besides functioning as the National training centre for selected sports disciplines. Thakur also said that 90 Extension Centres of STC (Sports Authority of India Training Centre), including 60 Khelo India Centres, and 10 regular schools which are part of the National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC), are operational under Sports Authority of India.

21434. Kashmir Cop Turns COVID Warrior, Helps 1,000 Households Despite No Cash Donations
- When Lockdown 1.0 was imposed nationwide on 25 March, the people of Kashmir were caught terribly off guard. That’s when 33-year-old Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq, a 2015 batch Jammu and Kashmir Police Service officer currently posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) in Srinagar, and about eight of his friends from different walks of life, came up with the idea of helping deliver daily essentials and medicines to the doorstep of needy residents.
- He appealed to people that whosoever is in need of essentials or medicines can convey their requirements directly to him or the WhatsApp numbers he shared. One WhatsApp group was dedicated to free medicine requests, the second for free home delivery of medicines and the third for free groceries.
- Since Lockdown 1.0, Deputy SP Sheikh Aadil and his friends have delivered daily essentials and medicines to over 1,000 households, predominantly in Srinagar. They have even reached out to residents in Anantnag, Baramulla, Bandipora and Ganderbal.
21435. हिमाचल: अकेले शुरू किया शहर का कचरा समेटना, 100 क्विंटल कचरे को लैंडफिल में जाने से रोका
- हिमाचल प्रदेश के लाहौल जिला के उदयपुर कस्बे में रहने वाले 39 वर्षीय सुशील कुमार हर किसी से एक ही सवाल करते हैं कि क्या वाकई सिर्फ टूरिस्ट ही पहाड़ों में प्रदूषण फैलाने के लिए ज़िम्मेदार हैं? क्या पहाड़ों में रहने वाले लोग अपना कर्तव्य अच्छी तरह से निभा रहे हैं? जब पहाड़ों में टूरिस्ट नहीं आते तो क्या यहाँ कचरा नहीं होता?
- सोशल वर्क से अपनी पढ़ाई करने वाले सुशील ने कुछ साल सामाजिक संगठनों और सीएसआर प्रोजेक्ट्स के साथ काम किया है। लेकिन फिर लगा कि अपने शहर में ही रहकर कुछ किया जाए तो उदयपुर में कृषि यंत्रों की दुकान शुरू की। फ़िलहाल, वह अपनी दुकान चलाने के साथ-साथ उदयपुर व्यापार मंडल के अध्यक्ष का कार्यभार भी संभाल रहे हैं
- अब तक वह लगभग 100 क्विंटल कचरा लैंडफिल में जाने से रोक चुके हैं। इस कचरे को बेचकर उन्हें जो भी पैसा मिला है उसे व्यापार मंडल के खाते में जमा कराया गया है। सुशील कहते हैं कि उनका उद्देश्य अपने लाहौल में ही एक वेस्ट मैनेजमेंट सेंटर बनाने का है।
21436. 11 दोस्तों ने मिलकर छेड़ा अनोखा अभियान, मात्र 10 रुपये में खिलाते हैं पेटभर खाना
- यह कहानी राजस्थान के श्रीगंगानगर शहर की है, जहाँ 11 दोस्तों ने मिलकर एक ऐसी रसोई बनाई है, जो रोजाना तकरीबन एक हजार लोगों को खाना परोसती है। महंगाई के इस दौर में भी यहाँ केवल 10 रूपये में आप भर पेट खाना खा सकते हैं। इस अनोखी रसोई का नाम है ‘माँ अन्नपूर्णा रसोईघर’
- इनमें शामिल हैं सरकारी अस्पताल के कंपाउंडर महेश गोयल, दाल मिल के मालिक रामावतार लीला, मुनीम राजकुमार सरावगी, कपड़ा व्यवसायी राजेन्द्र अग्रवाल, साड़ी विक्रेता अनिल सरावगी, व्यवसायी राहुल छाबड़ा, कपड़ा व्यवसायी पवन सिंगल, फोटोग्राफर विनोद वर्मा, व्यवसायी भूप सहारण, बिजली विभाग के कर्मचारी दीपक बंसल तथा चाय विक्रेता शंभू सिंगल।
- साफ-सुथरे वातावरण वाले रसोईघर में दिन की शुरूआत चाय से होती है, जिसकी कीमत केवल 3 रुपये है। वहीं 5 रुपये में दूध का गिलास मिल जाता है। चाय-दूध की स्टाल सुबह से शाम तक चलती रहती है। मरीजों और उनके परिजनों के लिए महज दस रुपए में दाल, सब्जी और रोटी मिल जाती है। निराश्रितों, बुजुर्गों के लिए खाना, दूध और चाय बिल्कुल मुफ्त।
21437. बदहाल भवनों को लाइब्रेरी का रूप दे रहा झारखंड का यह आईएएस अधिकारी
- झारखंड के जामताड़ा के जिलाधिकारी आईएएस फैज अहमद ने, जिले में पुस्तकालयों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अनोखी पहल छेड़ी है। इसके तहत उन्होंने पिछले एक महीने में सात बेकार भवनों को पुस्तकालय का रूप दे दिया।
- आईएएस फैज अहमद ने द बेटर इंडिया को बताया, “इस बात के एक महीने से अधिक हो चुके हैं। एक जनता दरबार के आयोजन के सिलसिले में, मैं चेंगाडीह पंचायत गया था। इसी दौरान, किसी शख्स ने कहा कि अगर यहाँ लाइब्रेरी होता तो, इससे हमें काफी मदद मिलती। उनके इस अपील के बाद, मैंने इस दिशा में कुछ सार्थक करने का विचार आया।”
- फैज बताते हैं, “पिछले एक महीने के दौरान हमने चेंगाडीह, नाला, कुंडहित, फतेहपुर जैसे सात स्थानों पर पुस्तकालय का निर्माण किया है। हम अगले 15 दिनों में 25 और पुस्तकालय बनाएंगे और इसका मूल्यांकन करने के बाद हमारी योजना सभी पंचायतों में इस तरह से 118 पुस्तकालयों को बनाने की है।”
21438. नागपुर: वैन को बनाया सोलर वैन, न पेट्रोल का खर्च और न प्रदुषण का खतरा
- नागपुर के 66 वर्षीय दिलीप चित्रे ने 2018 में खुद ही अपने वैन को सोलर पॉवर्ड (Solar Van) कर दिया। वह अबतक इस गाड़ी से 4500 किलोमीटर की यात्रा कर चुके हैं। फिलहाल वह कार में लिथियम बैटरी का इस्तेमाल कर रहे हैं।
- दिलीप को अपने इस इनोवेशन को सही तरह से करने में लगभग 25 वर्ष का समय लगा है। वह पिछले दो दशक से भी ज्यादा समय से सोलर एनर्जी पर काम कर रहे हैं। उनका सबसे पहला आईडिया सोलर से चलने वाले वाहन बनाना था लेकिन शुरूआत में जब उन्हें सफलता नहीं मिली तो उन्होंने दूसरी चीजों में सोलर एक्सपेरिमेंट किए।
- साल 2003 में दिलीप ने अपना पहला एक्सपेरिमेंट ऑटो-रिक्शा पर किया था। उन्होंने इसके इंजन को इलेक्ट्रिक बैटरी से बदल दिया। उन्होंने इसे नागपुर के रीजनल ट्रांसपोर्ट ऑफिस में टेस्ट करने के लिए भी बहुत से प्रयास किए। उनका ऑटो-रिक्शा टेस्ट में पास हो गया लेकिन ज्यादा साधन न होने की वजह से वह अपने इस प्रोजेक्ट पर ज्यादा काम नहीं कर पाए। उन्होंने अपने ऑटो-रिक्शा की एक प्रेजेंटेशन बनाकर देहरादून के पेट्रोलियम कज़र्वेशन रिसर्च एसोसिएशन को भी भेजी। लेकिन वहाँ से भी उन्हें कोई जवाब नहीं मिला।
21439. मिलिए 26 की उम्र में 40 हजार पौधे लगाने वाले उत्तराखंड के इस युवा से
- उत्तराखंड के नैनीताल जिला के नाई गाँव के रहने वाले चंदन सिंह नयाल की उम्र कम है, लेकिन उनके इरादे बेहद ऊंचे। चंदन ने जब देखा कि चीड़ और बुरांश के जंगलों में आग लग रही है और जमीन सूख रही है तो उन्होंने अपनी लगन से चामा तोक इलाके में बांज का जंगल तैयार कर दिया।
- नैनीताल जिला के ओखलकांडा ब्लॉक के नाई गाँव के रहने वाले चंदन सिंह नयाल की उम्र कम है, लेकिन उनके इरादे बेहद ऊंचे। चंदन ने जब देखा कि चीड़ और बुरांश के जंगलों में आग लग रही है और जमीन सूख रही है तो उन्होंने अपनी लगन से चामा तोक इलाके में बांज का जंगल तैयार कर दिया।
- मैंने जो जंगल तैयार किया है, उनमें से 15 हजार पौधे गाँव के तोक चामा में लगाए हैं। बाकी, इसके आस-पास के इलाकों में। इस काम में ग्रामीणों ने भी सहायता की है। मवेशी के लिए चारा जुटाने के लिए महिलाएं अक्सर जंगल में जातीं हैं। ऐसे में जंगली जानवरों का खतरा रहता है। ऐसे में जब गाँव में ही अपना जंगल तैयार हो जाएगा तब उन्हें सुदूर जंगल नहीं जाना पड़ेगा।”
21440. Meghalaya CM Lays Foundation Stone Of Dairy Complex At West Jaintia Hills; Announces Slew Of Development Projects
- In an attempt to develop the nutritional status and transforming Meghalaya into a self-sufficient state in context of pork production thereby reducing the out-of-state import burden, the Meghalaya Chief Minister – Conrad K Sangma today laid the foundation stone for construction of the new dairy complex at Mukhla Umlangshor village in West Jaintia HIlls District.
- Sponsored by the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDP), the complex will be constructed at an approximate cost worth over 9 Crores.
- Addressing the gathering, Sangma informed that the project will provide employment opportunites to about 2000 plus farming communities, thereby addressing the shortage of milk production in the northeastern state.
