1531. Make in India Celebrates 10 Years: A Decade of Transformational Growth
- On 25 September 2014, the Government of India launched the Make in India initiative, a visionary program introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform the country into a global manufacturing hub.
- The initiative aims to boost domestic production, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and enhance innovation and skill development across 25 key sectors such as automobiles, electronics, defense, textiles, and pharmaceuticals

1532. Navy Launches Indigenous Diving Support Vessels ‘Nistar’ and ‘Nipun’ in Visakhapatnam
- On 22 September 2022, the Indian Navy launched two indigenous Diving Support Vessels (DSVs), ‘Nistar’ and ‘Nipun’, at Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) in Visakhapatnam.
- These were the first-of-their-kind ships designed and built in Bharat with nearly 80% indigenous content.
- After their commissioning, INS Nistar and INS Nipun were tasked with critical operations such as deep-sea diving, submarine rescue, and search-and-rescue missions in the Indian Ocean Region.
- Both vessels are equipped with advanced diving support systems and a Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV), and are capable of helicopter operations at sea.
1533. Tripura achieves 2 MW solar power milestone, sets 50 MW target for 2026
- On July 24, 2025, Tripura reached a 2 MW solar power generation milestone under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) announcing a target of 50 MW by 2026 to enhance energy self-reliance.
- The scheme, launched on February 13, 2024, has seen 15,730 household registrations, with 591 solar installations completed and 516 beneficiaries receiving subsidies, enabling 117 consumers to achieve zero electricity bills and earn ₹43,545 by selling surplus power.
- TSECL promotes the initiative with subsidies up to ₹85,800, noting that a 1 kW solar system can generate 100 units monthly, offering both cost savings and income through grid contributions.

1534. Himanta Biswa Sarma launches over Rs 500-crore projects in Dibrugarh
- On July 24, 2025, Assam Chief Minister launched development projects worth over ₹500 crore in Dibrugarh, focusing on higher education, healthcare, and connectivity, as reported by multiple sources.

1535. India-UK FTA: Zero duty to boost India's generic drug, medical device exports to Britain
- On 24 July,2025, India and the United Kingdom signed a Free Trade Agreement in London, in the presence of PM and UK PM Keir Starmer. The deal enables zero-duty exports for Indian generic medicines and medical devices, creating new opportunities for Indian exporters in the UK market.
- The zero tariff policy will lower export costs for Indian pharma and medical device companies, making products like ECG machines, surgical tools, and X-ray systems more competitive in the UK. Given the UK's shift from Chinese imports, Indian suppliers are now positioned as cost-effective, preferred alternatives.
- Although pharmaceuticals hold only 0.6% of India’s tariff lines, the industry has strategic value, exporting to over 200 countries and making up 20% of global generic supply. With the current $11 billion medical device market projected to reach $50 billion by 2030, the FTA enhances India’s global export potential.

1536. Centre approves ₹117-crore push for border villages in Himachal under Vibrant Villages Programme-II

- Vibrant Villages Programme-I was launched on 15 February 2023 for villages along India’s northern border in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal, and Ladakh. It aims to counter border insecurity by developing frontier villages and enhancing the sense of inclusion and presence of governance.
1537. Indian Railways spent ₹60,466 crore in passenger subsidy in FY24
- The Indian Railways provisionally incurred a subsidy of ₹60,466 crore in the financial year 2023–24, covering 45 per cent of the cost of passenger travel, the Union government informed the Lok Sabha on 23 july 2025.
- “The increase in fares is very low, ranging from half paise per km to two paise per km for premium classes,” he said.
- Minister, said Indian Railways offers transportation services to over 720 crore passengers annually and that fares remain among the lowest globally, including in comparison with neighbouring countries.

1538. Centre and Delhi govt unveils ₹27,000-crore plan to decongest capital with 128km

1539. CIL Invites Bids For 875 MW Solar Project In Rajasthan’s Bikaner District
- On 24 July, It was reported that, Coal India Limited (CIL) has released a tender for setting up an 875 MW (AC) solar PV power project at the 2,000 MW Solar Park developed by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) in Pugal, Bikaner district, Rajasthan.
- The project must be completed within 24 months from the date of commencement. However, the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) will be extended automatically up to six months or until the associated transmission system by RVPN is commissioned, whichever is earlier. If delays persist, SCOD can be extended by another 30 days without penalties.
- The tender’s technical evaluation will be conducted online. Only those who meet the required criteria in terms of past project experience (minimum 175 MW AC in EPC or as a developer), financial turnover (average of ₹1,263 crore in the last 3 years), and net worth (at least ₹421 crore as of March 31, 2025) will qualify.
1540. Telangana Launches ₹6,478 cr Rural Road Network Under HAM
- On July 24, 2025, The Telangana government approved ₹6,478 crore road development plan under the Hybrid Annuity Model, marking a major effort to enhance connectivity in rural areas.
- The project’s goal is connect every village to its mandal office and every mandal to its district HQ. Phase I covers 373 roads spanning 5,190 km across 17 packages.
- The plan as laying the “path to Telangana’s future,” emphasizing better roads bring economic opportunities, easier access to services and balanced development for all regions.
