1401. Astrophel Aerospace and IN-SPACe ink MoU for reusable rocket tech and propulsion testing
- On August 14, 2025, Astrophel Aerospace signed MoU with IN-SPACe, granting them access to ISRO facilities, technical reviews, system-level testing and expert guidance for their semi-cryogenic propulsion systems, including turbopumps and engine modules.
- The agreement follows Astrophel’s successful pre-seed funding round, raising ₹6.84 crore to develop its reusable launch hopper and to enhance R&D.
- Astrophel is developing modular, reusable propulsion systems like valves, turbopumps, avionics and guidance systems that have dual use applications across aerospace, clean energy, industrial gas and defense sectors.

1402. India hits 100 GW solar manufacturing milestone, boosting self-reliance

1403. Gujarat: Sunora Solar Secures 125 MW Solar Order Under DREBP Scheme

Major markets included the US, UAE, Netherlands, China, Singapore, UK, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Germany, and Italy.
- Export growth is fueled by tech-driven industries, strong manufacturing, and high global demand for electronics, engineering goods, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture, while services like IT, business, and finance also boost overall exports.
- Pharmaceutical exports grew from $15 B to $28 B, agricultural exports doubled to $48 B, merchandise exports were $437 B, services $341 B, and the top 10 countries contributed 51 % of India’s export revenue.

1405. India, Nigeria discuss strengthening defence ties in New Delhi bilateral meeting
- Raksha Rajya Mantri held a bilateral meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, in New Delhi on 12 August,2025, focusing on deepening the growing defence cooperation between the two nations.
- The discussions centered on advancing military engagements across multiple domains, including counter-terrorism training, research and development, maritime cooperation, hydrography, anti-piracy efforts, and defence industry collaboration.
- The Nigerian Minister is leading a delegation to India from August 11 to 14, 2025 During the visit, the delegation also engaged with Indian defence industries to further bilateral collaboration.

1406. PM Surya Ghar Yojana Powers Over 16.7 Lakh Households with Rooftop Solar
- India’s PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, launched in February 2024, has provided rooftop solar benefits to over 16.78 lakh households and aims to cover 1 crore homes Reported on 13 August 2025.
- According to Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power, Shripad Yesso Naik, the government has disbursed ₹9,280.88 crore as Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to beneficiaries under the scheme.
- The scheme, implemented by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), replaced the earlier Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Programme Phase-II, which had been operational since March 2019 and was originally extended until March 2026.
1407. SECI Signs MoU with Renewable Energy Agency Puducherry to Solarise Govt Buildings
- On 13 August, 2025 It was reported that, Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI), a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Renewable Energy Agency Puducherry (REAP) for solarisation of all the government buildings in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
- The MoUs aim to promote renewable energy adoption, enhance energy efficiency, and support India’s clean energy goals by developing solar, floating solar, battery storage, pumped storage, and hybrid energy projects across states.
- In FY25, SECI reported 16.49% revenue growth to ₹15,185.10 crore and 15.11% PAT increase to ₹501.92 crore, strengthening its capacity to deliver large-scale renewable energy and storage solutions to meet rising commercial, industrial, and government demand.
1408. Juniper Green Energy raises ₹1,739 crore from IREDA
- On August 13 2025, Juniper Green Energy obtained ₹1,739 crore from IREDA to fund renewable projects across India, following last year’s $1 billion debt raise.
- The financing will support large-scale project execution, strengthen operations, and align with India’s sustainable energy goals, according to CFO Parag Agrawal.
- The company commissioned a 103 MWp solar plant in Karanja 16 months early and partially commissioned 25 MW of a Gujarat wind project three months ahead of schedule.
1409. IIT-Hyderabad begins AI-powered driverless bus service on campus
- On 13 August 2025, It was reported that, The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has put driverless buses into daily service on its campus, marking a first-of-its-kind deployment in the country. The vehicles, built by the institute’s Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation (TiHAN), are fully electric and operate without a human driver.
- Two variants, a six-seater and a fourteen-seater, are in operation. The buses, newly added to the campus roads, are already a regular sight, having transported more than 10,000 passengers. TiHAN reports that passenger feedback has been largely positive, with a satisfaction rate of about 90 per cent.
- While the buses currently operate only within IIT-H’s boundaries, the project is seen as an early step towards the introduction of autonomous public transport in India.
1410. Indian Railways Offers Free Wi-Fi Services At 6,115 Railway Stations; How To Access It

- The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, allowing passengers to stream, download, and work online via the RailWire network, accessed through mobile OTP authentication.
