2311. Northeast Witnessing Increase In Domestic And Foreign Tourist Inflow: Centre
- On April 2, 2025, Minister of State for Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER), Sukanta Majumdar, reported a remarkable increase in tourist arrivals in the Northeast.

2312. Prayagraj Maha Kumbh economic activity at Rs 2.8 lakh cr
- On 1 April 2025 recently concluded Maha Kumbh Mela was an economic juggernaut which generated economic activity of Rs 2.8 lakh crore,
- The convergence of millions of people in UP's Prayagraj led to huge economic activity, including some direct spends, some indirect and also induced ones, as per the report by Dun and Bradstreet.
- The indirect impact, which comes from the supply chain's response to the increased demand in the directly impacted sectors like higher demand for linens as hotel bookings go up, has been pegged at Rs 80,000 crore.

2313. Over 76,000 Tribal Farmers in Udaipur Receive ₹18 Crore Under PM-Kisan Scheme
- On 1 April,2025, It was reported that, In a major boost to tribal farmers in Rajasthan, more than 76,000 tribal beneficiaries in Udaipur district have received a total financial aid of ₹18 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
- The minister stated that as part of the PM-KISAN initiative, 10,40,966 tribal farmers across Rajasthan have been allocated ₹244.85 crore so far.
- The scheme, launched by the central government, provides income support of ₹6,000 per year in three equal installments to all landholding farmer families, helping them meet agricultural and household expenses.
2314. Maharashtra govertment & Microsoft sign MoU to pursue ‘Digital India-Self Reliant
- On 2 April 2025 The Maharashtra government and Microsoft signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the "Digital India, Self-reliant Maharashtra".
- The government will become more capable, people-oriented and transparent, which will directly benefit the citizens, said Chief Minister on this occasion.
- The partnership will accelerate Maharashtra's dream of a 1 trillion dollar economy by 2028. It will boost the state's innovation, progress and entrepreneurship.
- Three AI Centers of Excellence will be established across the state. One center will be the Geography Analysis Center to conduct advanced geography-related analysis, GIS and satellite imagery to support policy decision-making.

2315. Project linking Yamuna e-way with Delhi-Agra NH approved
- ON 2 April 2025 A mega road infrastructure project linking Yamuna Expressway with Delhi-Agra National Highway was approved to paving the way for the National Highways Authority of India to commence land acquisition.
- Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad said the Rs 1,645 crore project to link the Yamuna Expressway (Noida-Agra) and the Delhi-Agra National Highway in Mathura
- The Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority, said the 15-km six-lane road would connect the Yamuna Expressway at its 101st km with the Delhi-Agra Highway near Jaint.

2316. Rafale fighter jets: A game-changer for India’s defense
- On 01 April 2021, the fourth batch of three Rafale fighter jets arrived in India. As part of a €7.87 billion (₹59,000 crore) deal signed with France in 2016 for 36 jets, India had received 35 by February 2022. These advanced aircraft are a game-changer for national security due to their superior technology, combat capabilities, and strategic deployment.
- Built by Dassault Aviation, Rafale is among the world’s most advanced fighter jets, equipped to carry multiple deadly weapons and missiles. Deployed at Ambala Air Force Station near Pakistan and China, it ensures rapid response in conflicts. India acquired 28 single-seater and 8 dual-seater variants, with an impressive range of 3,700 km, and weapons like Meteor, Scalp, and Hammer missiles.
- Rafale is known for its exceptional speed, firepower, and maneuverability. It climbs 300 meters in a second and reaches 18,000 meters in a minute, outperforming Pakistan’s F-16 and China’s J-20, which lacks combat experience. Used by France in Afghanistan, Libya, and Mali, Rafale operates from short runways, aircraft carriers, and has an in-flight refueling system, making it a powerful asset for India’s defense.
2317. India Adds Record 25 GW RE in FY25; Solar Capacity Crosses 100 GW, Module Manufacturing Hits 74 GW
- On 2 April,2025, It was reported that,India had achieved a significant milestone in its renewable energy journey, registering a record-breaking addition of 25 GW of renewable energy capacity during the financial year 2024-25.
- The solar sector emerged as the driving force behind this surge, contributing nearly 21 GW in new capacity—up from 15 GW in FY24. With this push, India has crossed the 100 GW mark in total installed solar capacity. This achievement aligns with the government’s efforts to promote clean and sustainable energy.
- Union Minister noted that India is poised to become the world’s third-largest renewable energy capacity holder, highlighting the government’s unwavering commitment to a sustainable and self-reliant energy future.
2318. Foxconn invests Rs 276 crore in India to enhance Apple production
- On 1 April 2025,It was reported that, Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn had added a new batch of machinery worth Rs 276 crore at its India unit to ramp up manufacturing of Apple devices,
- The development comes a day before US President Donald Trump announced imposing reciprocal tariff on several countries including India from April 02, 2025.
- According to ICEA, the US is not a major manufacturing competitor to India across several electronics products. Instead, it offers a USD 80 billion mobile phone export opportunity to India.
2319. India’s Renewable Energy Boom: Record 25 GW Added In FY 2024-25, Marking 35% Growth
- On 2 April 2025 India has made remarkable progress in renewable energy during the financial year 2024-25, achieving a historic milestone. The country added 25 GW of renewable energy capacity, marking a 35% increase compared to the 2023 to 2024year in 18.57 GW.
- Solar power additions increased from 15 GW in the previous year to nearly 21 GW in the current year, showing a 38% rise. With this, India crossed the 100 GW mark in installed solar capacity, making it one of the leading nations in solar energy adoption.
- The milestone in this area was the establishment of India’s first ingot-wafer manufacturing facility, which started production with a capacity of 2 GW. Under the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for High-Efficiency Solar PV Modules, investments worth ₹41,000 crore were made.
2320. Indian Defence export touches record high of 23,622 crore in FY 2024-25
- On 2 April 2025 The country's Defence exports have surged to a record high of Rs 23,622 crore (approx. US$ 2.76 Billion) in the Financial Year (FY) 2024-25.
- The Ministry of Defence said "A growth of Rs 2,539 crore or 12.04% has been registered in the just-concluded FY over the defence exports figures of FY 2023-24, which were Rs 21,083 crore."
- The private sector and DPSUs have contributed Rs 15,233 crore and Rs 8,389 crore respectively in defence exports of 2024-25, whereas the corresponding figures for FY 2023-24 were Rs 15,209 crore and Rs 5,874 crore respectively.
- The Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) have shown a significant increase of 42.85% in their exports in the FY 2024-25 reflecting the growing acceptability of Indian products in the global market and the ability of the Indian defence industry to be a part of the global supply chain.
