22321. Assam approves Rs 2,000 cr to improve rural infrastructure
- The Assam Cabinet on Wednesday has approved around Rs 2,000 crore for improving rural infrastructure and upgrading vital roads in the state, said a press release.
- During the cabinet meeting chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held at Janata Bhawan (Assam Secretariat) Guwahati, the state cabinet has approved Rs 958 crore for upgrading 114 road-cum-embankments and construction of six rural bridges in various districts.
- The Assam cabinet approved Rs 450 crore for the construction of a new Medical College and Hospital in the newly-created Tamulpur district.

22322. Master plan for irrigation, water conservation works in Ladakh
- The Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department of the Union Territory of Ladakh is working towards improving irrigation infrastructure, strengthening flood risk management and promoting water conservation activities in the region
- The department intends to develop an irrigation master plan by identifying potential areas of irrigation and carry out the associated studies/surveys by mapping of water sources/channels and assessment of loss of irrigation potential.
- For undertaking the work, the I&FC Department has hired a public sector expert company namely ‘Project Development Company of Rajasthan (PDCOR Limited)’ which is jointly promoted by the Government of Rajasthan and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Centre (IL&FS).
22323. Nearly 1,700 Kashmiri Pandits appointed by Jammu and Kashmir govt since Article 370 abrogation
- Nearly 1,700 Kashmiri Pandits were appointed in various government departments by the Jammu and Kashmir administration since August 5, 2019 when Article 370 was abrogated and the erstwhile state was bifurcated into union territories, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
- Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said as per the data provided by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, 44,684 Kashmiri migrant families were registered with the Office of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Jammu, comprising 1,54,712 individuals.
- In order to rehabilitate Kashmiri migrant families, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed 1,697 such persons since August 5, 2019 and selected additional 1,140 persons in this regard," he said replying to a written question.
22324. Fewer Terror Incidents in J&K Since Repeal of Art 370, Over 1,500 Kashmiri Migrants Given Jobs, Says MHA
- The ministry of home affairs in three separate questions briefed Parliament on the development in Jammu and Kashmir, along with details about terror incidents since the abrogation of Article 370.
- The ministry told Parliament that 1,41,815 new works had been taken up by the government in Jammu and Kashmir, and informed Rajya Sabha about the status of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
- As per the information provided by the government of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and government of Ladakh, 1,41,815 and 17,556 new works/projects have been taken up under various sectors/schemes in J&K and Ladakh, respectively, since 2019. Funds amounting to Rs 27,274 crore and Rs 3,097.14 crore have been provided for the completion of these works/projects in the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh, respectively,” the MHA said in a reply.
22325. J&K administration earmarks 290 acre land in Kashmir for housing colonies.
- the administrative council headed by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday transferred about 290 acres of land in Srinagar and Budgam districts to the housing and urban development department for the construction of housing colonies.
- During the recently held Real Estate Summit-2022, it was decided to develop housing stocks in both the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu.
- Giving details of the government’s decision, an official spokesman said that to meet the increased appetite for housing in Srinagar city and give a push to the housing sector, the Administrative Council approved the transfer of land measuring 2318 Kanal 8 Marla in 7 villages at 17 locations in Srinagar and Budgam districts free of cost in favour of Housing and Urban Development Department for construction of Housing Colonies.
22326. India ‘18-24 months behind schedule’ to achieve $5 trillion economy: Govt advisor Sanjeev Sanyal
- The government is at least 18-24 months behind schedule in becoming the $5 trillion economy that it had envisaged before the Covid-19 pandemic hit India and the rest of the world, and disrupted the growth momentum, Principal Economic Adviser Sanjeev Sanyal told
- The government had in early 2018 announced its vision to achieve the $5 trillion economy level by the 2025 fiscal, and had come out with a roadmap to achieve it. However, the domestic economy had started losing momentum with the GDP growth falling to four per cent in 2019-20.
- the Indian economy will grow between 8 and 8.5 per cent in 2022-23, amid expectations of recovery in momentum due to the benefits of the supply-side reforms announced by the Narendra Modi government in the past two years.

22327. Adani Green Energy net up 20 per cent to Rs 49 crore in December quarter
- Adani Green Energy posted a nearly 20 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 49 crore in the October-December quarter compared to the year-ago period mainly on the back of higher revenues.
- The company had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 41 crore in the quarter ended on December 31, 2020, a BSE filing stated.
- Total income of the company rose to Rs 1,471 crore in the quarter from Rs 843 crore in the same period a year ago.

22328. In a year, 25,000 km in highways; ropeways on public-private mode
- The national highways network will be expanded by 25,000 km during 2022-23 and the national ropeway development programme will be taken up in public-private partnership (PPP) mode under the banner of Parvatmala, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in her Budget speech.
- PM Gati Shakti Master Plan for Expressways will be formulated in 2022-23 to facilitate faster movement of people and goods. The national highways network will be expanded by 25,000 km in 2022-23
- The Budget has provided an enhanced outlay of Rs 1.99 lakh crore for the highways sector. Allocation of Rs 1.18 lakh crore was made for the sector for 2020-21, which was revised to Rs 1.31 lakh crore.
22329. Connectivity in Neighbourhood: New Bridge to strengthen connectivity between India and Nepal
- Construction of a motorable Bridge over the Mahakali River connecting Dharchula (India) with Darchula (Nepal) is expected to start soon.
- This bridge once completed will enhance cross border connectivity with Nepal in that area. The State government of Uttarakhand will start work on the bridge soon.
- on both sides of the border age old traditional, people-to-people and cultural links exist between communities.Also, this project is in line with the priority shared by governments of both countries. This will help in streamlining commercial, cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

22330. Two longest Indian Railways’ flyovers being built in Katni, MP for smooth movement of coal-laden trains
- Longest Indian Railways flyovers coming soon! Two longest railway flyovers in the country are being built at the estimated cost of Rs 1,250 crore in the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh.
- These flyovers with a total length of 34.9 kilometres are being developed for the smooth movement of trains carrying coal, according to a railway official.
- The railway project worth Rs 1,250 crore was started in the year 2020 and the work on these flyovers is expected to be completed by 2023-24, the railway official said. So far, 25 per cent of the work on the project has been completed, he continued.
