601. Patanjali Signs MoU With Russian Government to Promote Yoga, Ayurveda and Wellness Tourism
- On December 06, 2025, Patanjali and the Russian government signed an MoU to promote health and wellness in Russia, focusing on expanding services, research on longevity, and early disease detection.
- Baba Ramdev and Russian official Sergey Cheremin will strengthen cooperation through health tourism, research collaboration, skilled professional exchange, yoga training deployment, and cross-promotion of Indian and Russian brands.
- The agreement includes research on slowing ageing, detecting major illnesses early, spreading yoga and Ayurveda in Russia, providing skilled workers, and enhancing bilateral spiritual, economic, political, and social relations following President Putin’s recent India visit.

602. With 18,568 active startups, Uttar Pradesh emerges as new powerhouse of Startup India
- On December 7, 2025 it was reported that, in Uttar Pradesh, the state emerged as a major Startup India powerhouse with 18,568 operational startups across all 75 districts, showing rapid growth in innovation-driven enterprises.
- The Up government enables youth-led entrepreneurship through mentorship, financial aid, incubation centres, IT policies, and supportive governance, helping startups expand in agri-tech, AI, drones, fintech, and other sectors.
- Uttar Pradesh has 18,568 startups, including 8,000 led by women; IT hubs like Noida, Greater Noida, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Gorakhpur are growing; robust policies and innovation centres are positioning the state as a top national startup hub.
603. Odisha Cabinet approves schemes for silk, handloom sectors
- On December 5, 2025 in Odisha, the state cabinet approved six proposals, including new textile and silk development schemes, a pharma and MedTech policy, fisheries cadre restructuring, and a uniform reservation policy for universities to strengthen industries and institutional systems.
- Chief Minister cabinet and Parliamentary Affairs Minister explained that the government will implement these schemes through large fund allocations, incentives, infrastructure creation, cadre expansion, and administrative reforms to boost sectoral growth.
- MBSBY will receive ₹490 crore and MRBY ₹274 crore over five years; pharma and MedTech parks will be set up; fisheries cadre posts significantly increased; and universities will follow a single-unit reservation system for faculty recruitment.

604. India sees record clean energy growth with 31.25 GW added in 2025
- On 6 December 2025, Union New & Renewable Energy Minister , speaking at the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit in Puri, Odisha, announced that India has recorded its highest-ever addition of 31.25 GW of non-fossil capacity in the current financial year 2025-26, including 24.28 GW of solar.
- minister unveiled a consumer-owned Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model under PM Surya Ghar to deploy 1.5 lakh rooftop (1 kW) solar systems in Odisha — a scheme expected to directly benefit about 7–8 lakh people. Odisha already has ~3.1 GW renewable capacity (over 34% of its installed power), while under PM Surya Ghar 1.6 lakh households have applied, 23,000+ installations completed, and ~19,200 families have received subsidies totaling ₹147 crore.
- India’s solar capacity rose from 2.8 GW to ~130 GW in 11 years (a >4,500% increase), and the country contributed 46 GW to global solar additions between 2022–24, making it a key driver of the world’s renewable surge.
605. Make in India At Its Peak: DRDO Hands Over 7 Indigenous Technologies to India & Approved 12 Projects Under DRDO TDF scheme
- On 02 December 2025 at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi, the DRDO Empowered Committee- chaired by DRDO Chief Samir V. Kamat- formally handed over seven indigenous defence technologies to the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme, marking a major step in India’s push for defence self-reliance.
- During the high-level meeting attended by senior officials from the Armed Forces, Defence Production, and DRDO, the Committee not only transferred the indigenously developed systems but also approved 12 new strategic, aerospace, naval and EW projects, reinforcing an expanding R&D pipeline under the TDF mechanism.
- The handover strengthens India’s long-term goal of reducing import dependence by enabling industry-DRDO collaboration, enhancing multi-domain military capability, and encouraging startups and MSMEs to innovate in critical defence technologies- collectively advancing India’s strategic autonomy and building a robust domestic defence-industrial ecosystem.
606. Nitin Gadkari Launches India’s First Accessibility Rating System
- On 3 December, 2025 in New Delhi, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways launched the Purple Building Certification Scheme, India’s first accessibility rating system for buildings and public spaces, marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
- AMTZ developed the scheme with ICMR and IDEA; QCI and AMTZ will train auditors and certification bodies. Gadkari urged NITI Aayog to draft mandatory accessibility provisions and recommended a parliamentary bill for uniform legal enforcement across India.
- The certification applies to schools, hospitals, workplaces, transport hubs, residences, and public spaces, promoting universal design for PwDs, seniors, and others. Experts stressed accessibility for future global sports events, nationwide adoption, and bridging gaps between policy and implementation.

607. India–Russia sign key agreements on health, food safety, and shipbuilding

608. Modi, Putin expand India–Russia cooperation with 2030 agenda covering energy, transport links, critical minerals
- During a New Delhi summit On December 5, 2025 , India and Russia unveiled the 2030 Economic Cooperation Programme, expanding collaboration in energy, connectivity, minerals, trade and mobility while reaffirming their long-standing strategic partnership’s new direction.

609. Konkan Railway adds second enhanced capacity Ro-Ro rake to boost freight movement
- Konkan Railway introduced its second 57-tonne-capacity Ro-Ro rake on December 3, 2025, following the first rake launched on November 5, to enhance freight movement across the Konkan Railway route.
- Konkan Railway officials improved Ro-Ro operations by deploying two upgraded rakes, each with 15 BRN wagons for 57-tonne trucks and 35 box wagons for 50-tonne loads, while applying guidelines and excess-weight charges of ₹800 per tonne plus GST.
- The new enhanced-capacity rakes permit 57 tonnes for BRN wagons and 50 tonnes for box wagons, exceeding limits of other rakes. The upgrade supports transporters handling iron, steel, marble, tiles, construction materials, and heavy consignments on the Konkan route.
610. Indian Railways commissions Kavach 4.0 on 738 Route km across key corridors
- On december 5, 2025 Indian Railways has commissioned Kavach 4.0, the latest version of its indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, on 738 route kilometres across two major corridors.
- Indian Railways, led by Railway Minister , implemented Kavach 4.0 by installing station and trackside equipment, OFC, telecom towers, RFID tags, and locomotive units, supported by large-scale training of over 40,000 railway personnel.
- Kavach 4.0 enhances location accuracy, signal relay, and interlocking integration. Infrastructure includes 7,129 km OFC, 860 towers, 549 stations, and 4,154 locomotives fitted. Costs are ₹50 lakh per km and ₹80 lakh per locomotive, with ₹2,354.36 crore spent so far.
