301. PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana to unify 36 schemes, boost farming in 100 low-performing districts
- The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the launch of the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, an umbrella programme that merges 36 existing schemes to uplift India’s agriculture sector.
- The scheme, with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore, will run for six years and focus on 100 deprived districts across the country, with a minimum of one district selected from each state and Union Territory.
- The new initiative is designed to enhance post-harvest storage, improve irrigation infrastructure, raise agricultural productivity, and expand credit facilities for farmers. Nearly 1.7 crore farmers are expected to benefit from the scheme
- The scheme aligns with the Union Budget 2025-26 announcement and will be implemented by converging 36 ongoing schemes from 11 central ministries and departments, in coordination with state-level schemes and local private sector partnerships.
302. Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: 25 Km Bharuch-Kim Section Prepared For Trial Operations In Gujarat
- The Bharuch to Kim section of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway part of Package 5 of the Vadodara–Mumbai corridor has been prepared and opened for traffic on a trial basis as construction and structural work is largely complete.
- With this section becoming functional for trial use, the stretch between Vadodara and Surat now has uninterrupted expressway connectivity. However, safety works and final touches are still underway and full official operations may be delayed by about one to two weeks.
- Opening this stretch is a key step in completing the Vadodara–Surat portion of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. Once fully operational, it will significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity between central and south Gujarat on the national expressway network.
303. India's Non-Fossil Fuel Capacity Surges 22.6 Per Cent To 266.78 GW In Record-Breaking Clean Energy Year In 2025
- India’s non-fossil fuel installed capacity rose to 266.78 GW in 2025, marking about a 22.6 % increase over 2024 and setting a clean energy record for the year.
- Solar energy capacity jumped significantly to 135.81 GW, and wind power also expanded to 54.51 GW, making them the primary drivers of the renewable expansion.
- This surge reflects India’s push toward energy security, climate commitments and its target of 500 GW non-fossil capacity by 2030, supported by policy measures and sustained implementation.
304. India EV market hits 2.3 million sales in 2025, policy support, festive demand drive adoption
- India’s electric vehicle market reached 2.3 million units sold in 2025, making up about 8 % of all new vehicle registrations for the year.
- Growth was driven by strong policy support and a surge in demand during the festive season, which accelerated adoption, especially in the last quarter.
- Electric two-wheelers dominated EV sales, with significant contributions from other segments and Uttar Pradesh emerging as the largest EV market in the country.
305. India crosses milestone of 50,000 NQAS-certified public health facilities
- India has crossed the milestone of 50,000 public health facilities certified under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) framework as of December 31, 2025, with 50,373 facilities certified nationwide.
- The NQAS programme, started in 2015, sets quality benchmarks for safety, patient care and service delivery across levels of public healthcare (district hospitals, PHCs, community health centres, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs).
- The rapid expansion accelerated by virtual assessments reflects the government’s push for equitable, quality and patient-centric healthcare, with a target to certify at least 50 % of public facilities by March 2026.
306. Indian Railways Expands Amrit Bharat Express Network Through Odisha With Six New Long-Distance Services
- Indian Railways is set to introduce six new Amrit Bharat Express services that will run through Odisha, expanding the connectivity of the Amrit Bharat network in the state starting January 2026.
- The new services will be non-AC sleeper trains with modern LHB coaches and upgraded onboard facilities, aimed at providing comfortable and affordable long-distance travel options for passengers, especially middle-class travelers.
- This launch is part of Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to modernize its network, regional linkages, meet rising passenger demand, boosting accessibility and economic opportunities for areas connected by these routes.
307. Uthalpeth becoming Maharashtra’s largest solar-powered village
- Uthalpeth village (Chandrapur) has become Maharashtra’s largest fully solar-powered village, with 100% rooftop solar coverage.
- All 180 households now receive uninterrupted, clean electricity, reducing dependence on the conventional power grid.
- The initiative strengthens rural energy self-reliance, lowers power costs, and supports India’s renewable energy goals.
308. Solar power lights up this UP village
- Mandironwala Bhuddi village in Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh is now fully lit up by solar power, with no traditional electricity poles, as the entire community runs on solar energy.
- Solar panels have been installed on every house in the village under a government scheme, making it a model for renewable energy use in rural areas.
- Villagers have reported that solar-powered lighting has significantly improved daily life, enabling household activities after dark and helping children study at night.
309. Banaskantha Masali village becoming India’s first border solar village:
- Masali village in Banaskantha district of Gujarat has become India’s first fully solar-powered border village, located about 40 km from the Pakistan border, marking a major milestone in rural renewable energy deployment.
- Solar rooftop panels were installed on all 199 houses in the village, creating a total generation capacity of around 225.5 kW, which exceeds the village’s own electricity needs.
- The project was implemented at an estimated cost of ₹1.16 crore with collaborative support from government departments, utilities, banks and solar companies, helping end dependance on conventional grid power and improving energy self-sufficiency.
310. Kaziranga records highest-ever foreign tourist footfall in 2025-26: Assam CM Himanta
- Kaziranga National Park recorded its highest-ever foreign tourist footfall in 2025–26, with 6,699 foreign visitors till December 27, up from 2,947 in 2022–23, marking a 127% increase, according to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
- The state government attributed this surge to Assam’s focus on conservation, culture and community-driven tourism, boosting global confidence in Kaziranga as a wildlife destination.
- Kaziranga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the one-horned rhinoceros and other key species, is emerging as a leading global benchmark for wildlife tourism.
