2521. ISRO, SCL develops 32-bit Microprocessors for space applications
- On 16 march 2026 ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Chandigarh have jointly developed 32-bit Microprocessors -- Vikram 3201 and Kalpana 3201-- for space applications, the space agency .
- Vikram 3201 is the first fully Indian-made 32-bit microprocessor qualified for use in the harsh environmental conditions of launch vehicles. The processor was fabricated at the 180nm (nanometer) CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) semiconductor fab of SCL.
- This processor is an advanced version of the indigenously designed 16-bit Vikram 1601 microprocessor, which has been operating in the avionics system of ISRO's launch vehicles since 2009, ISRO said in a statement .

2522. Jammu and Kashmir saw decrease in unemployment rate after 2019: Govt
- On March 15, 2025, the Jammu & Kashmir government informed the Assembly that the unemployment rate in the UT has declined from 6.7% in 2019-20 to 6.1% in 2023-24. The Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) and Worker Population Ratio (WPR) have also improved, reaching 64.3% and 64.4% respectively in 2023-24.
- Between 2023-24, the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) made 11,526 job selections, with: JKPSC recruiting 2,175 candidates JKSSB recruiting 9,351 candidates
- The Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj, stated that the improvement in employment indicators is due to targeted policies and initiatives aimed at economic growth and job creation.
2523. J&K Received 8,500+ Investment Proposals Worth Over ₹1.69 Trillion: Dy CM
- On March 15, 2025, Jammu & Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister announced that the Union Territory has received over 8,500 investment proposals worth ₹1.69 trillion, which aim to generate over 6 lakh jobs through the development of industrial units.
- According to government data, 8,532 applications have been received via the Single Window System, with proposed investments of ₹1,69,282.22 crore and employment projections for 6,06,203 people. The land requirement for these proposals stands at 80,668.91 kanals (10,083.61 acres).
- The investment and employment split between Jammu and Kashmir regions is as follows: Jammu Region: 2,209 proposals worth ₹1,18,918.47 crore, creating 2,66,729 jobs. Kashmir Region: 6,323 proposals worth ₹50,363.75 crore, creating 3,39,474 jobs. Land Required (Jammu): 46,352.86 kanals (5,794.10 acres) Land Required (Kashmir): 34,316.05 kanals (4,289.50 acres)
- Under the Industrial Policy 2016-26 and Industrial Land Allotment Policy 2021-30, the government has allocated land to 213 non-local investors (6,816.25 kanals / 852.03 acres) and 1,751 local investors (4,730 kanals / 591.25 acres). These efforts aim to attract large-scale industrial investments and boost job creation across the UT.

2524. Jammu Kashmir Exports 508K MTs of Fruit, Earns Rs 2,806 Cr in 2 Years
- On March 14, 2025, data from the Agriculture Production Department (Horticulture) revealed that Jammu & Kashmir exported 508.29 thousand metric tonnes (MTs) of fruit over the past two years, earning a total revenue of ₹2,806.22 crore. Baramulla district emerged as the largest contributor, with Sopore Mandi alone exporting 184.52K MTs, generating ₹992 crore.
- Shopian ranked second, with Aglar Mandi exporting 125.73K MTs of fruit, yielding ₹657.53 crore. Srinagar’s Parimpora Mandi also played a key role, exporting 40.45K MTs, with a turnover of ₹258.30 crore. Other notable contributors include: Pulwama (Prichoo Mandi) – 27.45K MTs, ₹157.68 crore Anantnag (Batingo Mandi) – 22.42K MTs, ₹87.04 crore Kupwara (Handwara Mandi) – 28.28K MTs, ₹96.04 crore Jammu Division (Narwal Mandi) – 25.01K MTs, ₹170.32 crore
- Some districts recorded lower export volumes, including Ganderbal (6.78K MTs, ₹29 crore), Budgam (6.30K MTs, ₹30.27 crore), and Kupwara’s second mandi (2.56K MTs, ₹148.20 crore). The consistent growth in exports underscores J&K’s strong horticultural sector, with ongoing efforts to enhance fruit production and market reach.
2525. Himanta Biswa Sarma announces 3.80 lakh houses for Assam under PMAY, geo-tagging revamped
- On March 13, 2025, Assam Chief Minister announced that the state has been allocated 3.80 lakh new houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The first installment for house construction will be disbursed on March 19 during a central event in Palashbari. So far, 22 lakh families in Assam have benefited from the scheme.
- To ensure inclusion of eligible families who were left out, the Assam government has requested the Central Government to conduct another round of geo-tagging. A revamped geo-tagging system will be introduced, where ‘Jeevika Sakhis’ in collaboration with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will identify and document unregistered beneficiaries. Families will also have the option to self-geo-tag their houses for accuracy.
- The Panchayat & Rural Development Department will oversee data verification, with approvals required from the Gram Sabha and Block-Level Committee. A district-level committee, led by the Guardian Minister, will review and finalize the list before submitting it to the Government of India. Additionally, the Awas Portal and Awas Plus initiatives will streamline housing data, with geo-tagging scheduled from March 17 to March 31 and public awareness campaigns set to launch through advertisements.

2526. Jhelum Beautification Project Underway, Rs 68.02 Crore DPR Approved
- On March 13, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir government announced that removing encroachments along water bodies, including the Jhelum River, is a top priority. A ₹68.02 crore Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Jhelum Beautification Project has been approved under the Smart City initiative, overseen by the Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD).
- Responding to a question from MLA, the Minister for the Jal Shakti Department stated that strict vigilance has been directed for all field officers, ensuring immediate action against encroachments. So far, 412 structures, 301 boundary walls, and 3,35,704 trees have been removed from the banks of the Jhelum River.
- Additionally, the weir at Chattabal, which maintains water levels in the Jhelum, remains fully operational, ensuring navigability for boats during the winter season. The beautification of the Jhelum bund is being carried out by the Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) Department, with funding from the Smart City Project, marking a significant step toward urban renewal and ecological conservation in the region.
2527. India signs MoU for development of state of the art multi modal logistics park in Varanasi
- On 11 march 2025, National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) signed a Mamorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a state-of-the-art Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Varanasi.
- The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said in a release on 11 march 2025, that the 50-acre park is strategically connected to NH7 via a 650m access road and is just 1.5 km from the NH7-NH2 junction.
- The project promises significant investment and employment opportunities, strengthening India's logistics sector, enhancing trade efficiency, and driving economic growth, the ministry added in the release.
2528. Govt Sanctions 194 Road, Bridge Projects in Jammu Kashmir
- On March 11, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir government announced the sanctioning of 194 road and bridge projects across the Union Territory, with an estimated cost of ₹1022.63 crore. The initiative aims to enhance connectivity and infrastructure development in various districts.
- Responding to a query by MLA Dr. Sajad Shafi, the minister in charge stated that 10 infrastructure projects worth ₹50.43 crore have been approved under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF-XXIX) for Baramulla district over the past two years.
- Additionally, for the Uri constituency, two road projects have been sanctioned under RIDF-XXIX, with an estimated cost of ₹6.45 crore. These projects are expected to improve road networks, enhance rural accessibility, and boost economic activity across Jammu and Kashmir.
2529. India’s Solar Revolution: PM Surya Ghar achieves milestone of 10 lakh solar installations
- On 13 march, 2025, Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), the world’s largest domestic rooftop solar initiative, has crossed a historic milestone with 10 lakh homes now powered by solar energy as of March 10 as per an official statement from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
- the scheme is transforming India’s energy landscape. With 47.3 lakh applications received, the government has disbursed Rs. 4,770 crore in subsidies to 6.13 lakh beneficiaries, making solar energy more accessible to Indian households.
- The scheme is expected to add 30 GW of solar capacity through residential rooftop installations by 2027, significantly boosting India’s renewable energy targets. Over the 25-year lifespan of these systems, it is estimated that they will generate 1000 billion units (BU) of electricity while reducing CO2 emissions by 720 million tonnes.
