211. IEW 2026 inaugurated by PM Modi; major India-EU trade boost announced

212. Minister Byrathi Suresh inaugurates Mahakalipadpu Railway Underbridge in Mangaluru
- On January 26, 2026, the long-awaited Mahakalipadpu Railway Underbridge was inaugurated in Mangaluru, aiming to improve city connectivity and ease traffic congestion.

214. Guwahati: MERD, CSRBOX sign MoU to boost healthcare initiatives in Assam

215. Shivraj Singh Chouhan approves procurement of 3.37 lakh metric tons of tur in Maharashtra
- On January 25, 2026, in New Delhi (Delhi), Union Agriculture Minister approved procurement of 3.37 lakh metric tons of tur in Maharashtra under the Price Support Scheme at an MSP worth about ₹2,696 crore.
- Union Agriculture Minister directed NAFED and NCCF, with Maharashtra officials, to conduct transparent, tech-enabled direct procurement, increase centres if needed, register farmers digitally, and coordinate with the state to ensure genuine farmers receive benefits.

216. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia lays foundation stone of Rs 80 crore Agarwood Value Chain Development scheme
- On January 25, 2026, in North Fulkabari, South Tripura district, Tripura, Union Minister laid the foundation stone for the ₹80 crore Agarwood Value Chain Development Scheme to strengthen regional agarwood production and trade.
- Union DoNER and Communications Minister launched the scheme by establishing two Central Processing Centres in Golaghat (Assam) and Tripura, digitising permissions, increasing export quotas, and linking farmers directly with global buyers to remove intermediaries.
- The scheme aims to raise Tripura’s agarwood output by 50%, secure a GI tag, boost exports six-fold, and create a ₹2,000 crore annual market within 3–4 years, supporting “Local to Global,” ODOP, and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals.

217. PM Modi distributes appointment letters to more than 61,000 newly recruites at 18th Rozgar Mela

218. India’s textile industry hits ₹16 lakh crore as exports jump 25%
- On January 24, 2026, it was reported that the textiles sector in India has seen tremendous growth in the last decade - from Rs 8.4 lakh crore in 2014 to around Rs 16 lakh crore today, becoming one of the biggest platforms for generating employment, according to the government.
- The domestic market also increased from Rs 6 lakh crore to Rs 13 lakh crore in 2025, while the country’s exports also witnessed over 25 per cent rise post-pandemic.
- The minister further informed that in Argentina, we grew by 77 per cent, Egypt by 30 per cent, Poland and Japan by 20 per cent and Sweden and France by 10 per cent, which is a very encouraging sign.
