1871. 103 railway stations get airport-like makeover: All about Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
- On may 22, 2025, Prime Minister inaugurated 103 redeveloped Amrit stations across India via video conferencing from Bikaner.
- The redeveloped stations are spread across 86 districts in 18 States and Union Territories and have been built at a cumulative cost of over Rs 1,100 crore, according to a release by the ministry of railways
- Among them are five railway stations in Karnataka — Munirabad, Bagalkot, Gadag, Gokak Road, and Dharwad — which have undergone major upgrades under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).
- These stations now feature upgraded passenger amenities, accessibility for Divyangjan, modern infrastructure and improved aesthetics — blending contemporary design with local cultural elements

- On May 22, 2025, Prime Minister inaugurated the redeveloped Amrit Bharat Deshnoke Railway Station and flagged off the Bikaner-Mumbai train service in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district .
- During the event, PM will inaugurate 103 Amrit Stations nationwide and lay the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs 26,000 crore.
- These projects include 1,000 km of electrified railway tracks, seven major road projects, three vehicle underpasses, a PowerGrid transmission project and 900 km of national highways in Rajasthan
1873. Union Minister Harsh Malhotra lays foundation stone for ₹111 crore underpass project in Uttarpradesh
- On 21 May 2025 , Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, laid the foundation stone for five vehicular underpasses in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh.
- The underpasses—Baghnath, Ken Union Chowk, Fazilnagar, Salemgarh, and Patheria—are part of a project aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving road safety in the region.
- he project, estimated at ₹111 crore, encompasses a total length of 5.4 kilometres and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

1874. Haryana government approves Rs 1,267.49 crore annual agriculture plan
- On 21 May 2025, In a major step towards enhancing agricultural productivity and promoting sustainable practices, the Haryana State Level Sanctioning Committee under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) has approved an ambitious annual plan of Rs 1,267.49 crore for the year 2025-26.
- The highlight of this year’s plan is the government’s focus on on-farm water management in response to the worsening crisis of declining groundwater levels in key agricultural districts like Karnal, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Sonipat, and Yamunanagar.
- The initiative, Underground Pipeline (UGPL) systems will be promoted on a large scale. These pipelines are expected to drastically reduce water wastage, conserve energy, and optimise irrigation efficiency.
- Farmers adopting these systems will receive substantial financial assistance from the government. The broader goal is to expand the net irrigated area, reduce input costs, and ensure sustainable water use in agriculture.
1875. India's first AI-based blood test launched in Hyderabad
- On 21 May 2025, public health, Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad has become the first in India to adopt an artificial intelligence-based diagnostic tool that conducts non-invasive blood testing in less than a minute, without needles, vials, or lab delays.
- Developed by health-tech startup Quick Vitals, the tool, called Amruth Swasth Bharath, is an app that uses advanced face-scanning technology to deliver blood test results in 20 to 60 seconds without needing a single drop of blood.
- The AI tool is being seen as a major boost to maternal and child health programmes.
1876. Kosamba Railway Station Transformed Under Amrit Bharat Scheme with ₹7 Crore Redevelopment
- On 21 May 2025, Indian Railways, often referred to as the lifeline of the nation, continues to reshape the country’s transport infrastructure with the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
- As part of this initiative, over 1,300 railway stations across India are undergoing redevelopment to better reflect the cities they serve. Among them, Kosamba Railway Station in Surat district has now been unveiled in its newly transformed form.
- The nvestment of over ₹7 crore, it has taken a major step forward under the national revitalization plan. Once a crowded and modest transit point, the station now boasts an elegant and modern design, complete with a grand new entrance that enhances its visual appeal.
1877. Tourist footfall in Mizoram surges by 114 per cent in FY 2024–25, records over 4.69 lakh visitors
- On May 18, 2025, Mizoram’s tourism sector reported a 114.29% surge in tourist arrivals for FY 2024–25, with 4,69,753 visitors (4,64,742 domestic, 5,011 international from over 80 countries) compared to 2,19,114 in FY 2023–24.
- Aizawl led with 2,62,224 domestic and 4,097 foreign tourists, followed by Kolasib with 1,05,593 visitors, driven by business, exploration, and family visits, with March 2025 data still pending.
- The Responsible Tourism Policy of 2020, focusing on sustainability and community development, has boosted Mizoram’s appeal, supported by 197 tourist destinations, 78 lodges, 101 hotels, and 125 homestays.
- Despite generating ₹3.27 crore in revenue, down from ₹3.57 crore last year, the state’s tourism ecosystem thrives with 76 tour operators, 95 guides, and 31 catering units, recovering strongly from COVID-19 lows of 20,564 visitors in 2020–21.

1878. Indian Railways launches new ‘SwaRail’ app to simplify travel services .
- On 20 May 2025, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced a new all-in-one mobile application named ‘Swarail’ to consolidate most passenger services under one modern platform.
- Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems, this upgraded version of the existing IRCTC app is available on Google Play Store and Apple Store. Users can either log in using their existing IRCTC credentials or create a new account .
- The app is available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Although it’s currently in beta, users can log in using their existing IRCTC Rail Connect accounts or create a new one .
1879. PSPCL to install rooftop solar systems at 92 sites in Ludhiana
- On 20 May 2025, The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has identified 92 sites across Ludhiana district for installing on-grid rooftop solar systems in a step towards promoting renewable energy.
- The project, estimated at ₹15.11 crore, is expected to generate 3,018 kilowatts (kW) of power to meet the internal consumption needs of PSPCL, reducing dependence on conventional energy.
- The initiative covers five key administrative buildings and 87 power substations under PSPCL’s central zone and P&M wing.
