1721. Amit Shah Lays Foundation of NFSU, CFSL in Raipur
- On 22 June 2025, Union Home Minister of India, laid the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Nava Raipur, marking it a "historic day" for Chhattisgarh, as hailed by CM Vishnu Deo Sai.
- The NFSU and CFSL facilities are being established with a combined investment of Rs 2.68 billion, including Rs 1.45 billion for the NFSU campus and Rs 1.23 billion for CFSL.
- Minister highlighted that an NFSU degree guarantees employment and will aid in enhancing both educational and employment prospects in the state. He also inaugurated i-HUB to support start-ups and MSMEs in Chhattisgarh, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
1722. DRDO develops 5.56x45 mm CQB carbine in partnership with private sector firm
- On June 23, 2025, DRDO 5.56×45 mm close quarter battle carbine developed by ARDE in collaboration with Bharat Forge has emerged as the lowest bidder in the Indian Army’s tender for over 4 lakh carbines marking a significant win for domestic defense technology.
- L1 selection strengthens India’s drive for “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” as the indigenous weapon aligns with the Army’s long standing need for a compact, modern close combat system, potentially replacing older 9 mm carbines.
- It is one of the biggest defense deals for a locally designed weapon, boosting Bharat Forge’s Kalyani Strategic Systems and solidifying public private partnerships in defense production.
1723. Sikkim’s agricultural exports reached a new milestone with the shipment of a 300 kg consignment of dehydrated Dalle Chillies to Solomon Islands
- On June 22, 2025, Sikkim marked a second milestone in agricultural exports with a 300 kg consignment of dehydrated Dalle Chillies sent to the Solomon Islands, following the first shipment of 15,000 kg on March 24, 2024, as reported by NE India Broadcast.
- The consignment, flagged off from Melli, South Sikkim by Mevedir, was overseen by officials, including Horticulture Secretary Tilak Gazmer and Principal Director B.L. Dahal, who noted that 5 kg of fresh Dalle Chilli yields 1 kg dehydrated, boosting farmer incomes.
- Dalle Chilli, a GI-tagged product since 2020, is promoted by the Chief Minister and a few other Ministers for its global demand, with the Prime Minister also praising its significance.

1724. Govt Launches Start-Up Challenge to Boost Rooftop Solar and Renewable Innovations
- On June 21, 2025, The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy launched a ₹2.3crore Start Up Challenge aimed at accelerating rooftop solar and distributed renewable energy solutions across India.
- The challenge seeks breakthrough ideas in four crucial domains affordability, resilience, inclusivity and environmental sustainability, targeting accessible, robust and eco-friendly energy solutions.
- Startups can compete for cash prizes ranging from ₹1 crore for the top entry to ₹5 lakh consolation prizes, alongside incubation, pilot scale implementation and mentorship.
1725. Coffee exports up 125 pc to USD 1.8 billion in last 11 years: Govt data
- On June 22, 2025, the country's coffee exports have jumped about 125 per cent to USD 1.8 billion in the last 11 years on account of a series of measures taken by the Coffee Board of India, according to the central government data.
- The exports stood at over USD 800 million in 2014-15. It was USD 1.28 billion in 2023-24 and USD 1.14 billion in 2022-23, the data showed.
- Europe remains the top destination for the country's coffee exports. The major countries which import the commodity from India include Italy, Germany, Belgium, Middle East nations, Korea, and Japan.

1727. Indian Railways Launches Two Special Tour Packages
- Indian Railways has unveiled two distinct tour packages under its Bharat Gaurav scheme: the 14-day Adi Amavasya Special Shakthi Peeth Yatra and the Eastern Delights, commencing on 16 July, 2025
- The operational backbone of both the packages is a customised tourist train fitted with extensive amenities that include public address systems, onboard and offboard meals, hotel stays, travel insurance, tour managers, and coach-level security.
- Indian Railways is offering a 33% subsidy on the tour packages under the Bharat Gaurav scheme to incentivize participation.

1728. Government Launches Start-Up Challenge To Support Innovation In Rooftop Solar
- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched a national start-up challenge focused on Rooftop Solar (RTS) and Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) technologies.
- The start-up challenge aims to encourage affordable, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable innovations.
- The initiative is being implemented by MNRE with support from the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), and in coordination with StartUp India and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
1729. India to Become Fourth-Largest EV Producer by 2030: Report
- India’s electric four-wheeler manufacturing capacity is projected to grow tenfold to 2.5 million units by 2030, from 0.2 million units currently, according to new research by Rhodium Group.
- This expansion would make India the fourth-largest electric vehicle (EV) producer globally, following China, the European Union, and the United States.
- India’s domestic EV car demand is projected to reach between 430,000 and 1.4 million units by 2030, up from around 100,000 in 2024.
- With total car sales currently estimated at 6 million units, this implies an EV penetration rate of 7–23 per cent in the passenger vehicle segment.
1730. India’s First Commercial Hydrogen Bus Deployment Begins In Ladakh
- On June 20, 2025, five hydrogen fuel cell buses were officially flagged off in Ladakh in a boost for green mobility, marking India's first-ever commercial hydrogen-powered bus deployment.
- State-run NTPC Limited handed over the buses to the State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO), and these buses will soon operate in Leh.
- This initiative is a result of collaborative efforts between NTPC and the Ladakh administration, symbolising India's growing leadership in renewable energy innovation.
