1541. Maruti Suzuki inks MoU with DPIIT to support startups
- On July 23, 2025, Maruti Suzuki India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to support startups in the automobile manufacturing and mobility sectors.
- Startups recognized under the Startup India initiative will gain access to Maruti Suzuki’s innovation programs, receiving expert mentorship, industry insights, and testing infrastructure to help validate and scale their solutions.
- The collaboration aims to foster technology-led automotive and mobility solutions by connecting startups with incubators, accelerators, investors, and Maruti Suzuki’s extensive industry network—supporting India's leadership in industrial innovation.
1542. India’s pharma exports rise 9.3% to $30.5 billion in FY25; complex generics and global expansion drive growth
- On 23 July 2025, It was reported that, India's pharmaceutical exports reached US$30.5 billion in FY2025, marking a 9.3% increase from the FY2024, according to a new report by Rubix Data Sciences, a leading provider of risk management and monitoring solutions. The report projects that the country’s pharma exports could double to US$65 billion by 2030.
- According to Rubix, Indian pharma companies are responding by investing in US-focused manufacturing capabilities, enhancing regulatory compliance, and developing complex generics targeted at upcoming patent expiries.With a series of high-value global drug patents set to expire over the next five years, Indian players are positioning themselves to fill the resulting supply gaps.
- The report identifies a clear shift in strategic priorities among Indian pharma firms. Companies are increasingly entering advanced therapeutic segments such as oncology, anti-diabetics, and central nervous system (CNS) disorders.

1543. Eighth, last anti-submarine warfare ship launched for Indian Navy
- On July 21, 2025. Kolkata-based defence shipyard GRSE Ltd. launched Ajay, the eighth and final Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft for the Indian Navy.
- GRSE stated that the ships are designed to detect and destroy enemy submarines in coastal waters and can carry out joint anti-submarine operations with aircraft.
- Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel, Indian Navy, who was the chief guest at the launch, said, “I am glad to note that in addition to ASW shallow water craft, the shipyard is constructing P-17 Alpha, a large survey vessel (Large), a Next-Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel, as well as the list of large number of special projects that GRSE is steering.”
1544. PayPal to link with India's UPI system through cross-border platform
- Payments firm PayPal has partnered with the operator of India’s popular unified payments interface and others to launch a global platform through which consumers can make cross-border payments to businessesThe platform, PayPal World, will enable interoperability between local payment platforms and PayPal, the firm said in a statement On 23 July,2025.
- PayPal World will enable interoperability between local payment platforms (like UPI, Tenpay Global, Mercado Pago, and Venmo) and PayPal’s global ecosystem. This will allow consumers and businesses to seamlessly perform cross-border digital transactions, improving international payment accessibility and efficiency.
- The platform aims to expand UPI's global footprint, boosting India’s influence in digital finance. This benefits consumers, businesses, and fintechs, enabling smoother global transactions and accelerating digital payment integration worldwide.

1545. India extends medical support to burn victims in Bangladesh air crash
- India has dispatched a team of burn-specialist doctors and nurses to Dhaka to treat those injured in the military jet crash in Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said On 22 July, 2025.
- The medical team will assess the condition of the injured and provide critical care to burn victims. Based on their evaluation, recommendations will be made for further treatment, including the possibility of transferring patients to India for specialised care, according to the MEA.
- The foreign ministry added that additional medical experts may also be deployed depending on the team’s preliminary assessment and treatment requirements.
1546. Agni-4 Missile Successfully Tested from Odisha
- On 06 September 2024, Bharat successfully conducted a test launch of the Agni-4 missile from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. This test was carried out by the Strategic Forces Command and confirmed that the missile met all technical and operational standards.
- Agni-4 is a nuclear-capable missile developed by DRDO. It has two stages and can strike targets as far as 4,000 kilometers. The missile is designed to carry a 1-tonne warhead, making it a powerful part of India’s defense system.
- Equipped with modern navigation, guidance, and control systems, Agni-4 is known for its accuracy and reliability. Its successful test shows Bharat’s strong commitment to national security and technological progress in strategic defense.
1547. Centre Releases Rs 1,881 Crore for Education and Infrastructure Development in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh
- On July 22, 2025, it was reported that the Central Government released ₹1,881 crore for education and infrastructure development in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under the Samagra Shiksha and PM-SHRI schemes for 2023–24 and 2024–25, as announced by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the Lok Sabha.
- Jammu & Kashmir received ₹1,689 crore, including ₹865.44 crore (2023–24) and ₹823.49 crore (2024–25) under Samagra Shiksha, plus ₹52.39 crore and ₹99.72 crore under PM-SHRI, while Ladakh was allocated ₹192 crore, with ₹52.23 crore and ₹140 crore under Samagra Shiksha, and ₹4.04 crore and ₹11.91 crore under PM-SHRI.
- The funds aim to enhance school infrastructure, teacher training, and digital learning, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, but government school enrolment dropped in 2023–24, with Jammu & Kashmir falling from 14.54 lakh to 14.21 lakh students and Ladakh from 28,667 to 26,275, attributed to data collection changes and migration to private schools.
1548. Jharkhand launches India’s first-ever mining tourism to offer guided mine tours
- On July 21, 2025, Jharkhand launched India’s first mining tourism initiative in partnership with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). This project, announced by CM after his visit to Spain’s Gava Museum, aims to showcase the state’s rich mining heritage and boost educational, cultural, and adventure tourism.
- In the first phase, North Urimari open-cast mines in Ramgarh district will host guided group tours (10–20 people). JTDC will handle tourism operations, while CCL will ensure logistics, safety, and live demonstration of mining practices for students, researchers, and tourists.
- Jharkhand, holding 40% of India’s mineral wealth, plans to expand this eco-industrial model with three tourism circuits: Eco-Mining Circuit 1, Eco-Mining Circuit 2, and a Religious Mining Circuit. The project integrates heritage, nature (like Tiru Falls and Patratu Valley), and employment, reviving defunct coal mines into vibrant cultural attractions.

1549. Tourism Boom in Jammu and Kashmir: Over Rs 500 Crore Spent on Projects Under Swadesh Darshan Scheme
- On July 21, 2025, it was reported that Jammu and Kashmir saw over 8.65 crore domestic tourist visits between 2020 and 2024, with a tenfold increase from 25.19 lakh to 2.35 crore, and foreign tourist arrivals rising from 1,650 in 2021 to 65,452 in 2024, fueled by infrastructure development under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.
- The Ministry of Tourism sanctioned six projects worth ₹519.58 crore in 2016-17, including circuits like Jammu-Srinagar-Pahalgam and Gulmarg-Baramulla-Kupwara, alongside flood restoration and upgrades in lesser-known areas like Mantalai and Zanskar Padum, all completed by 2025.

1550. Arunachal: Likabali town gets infrastructure boost with Rs 22 crore road project
- On July 22, 2025, it was reported that Likabali town, the headquarters of Lower Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, received a ₹22 crore infrastructure boost through a 7.5 km Cement Concrete road project under the Chief Minister Comprehensive State Road Development Plan (CMCSRDP-II) to enhance connectivity and tourism.
- The project, executed by the Public Works Department and awarded to M/s Lokam Ane Enterprises, covers key areas like the police station, market, mission schools, and district hospital, aiming to improve access to heritage sites like Malinithan Temple and Akasi Ganga.
- Despite challenges from persistent rainfall, the project maintains strict quality control with a 5.5-meter-wide road, 0.75-meter shoulders, and 6-meter drainage lines, targeting completion by 2029.
