41. K'taka: Pvt school asks students to remove rakhis, parents fume
- Parents as well as Hindu activists staged a protest against a private school in Uttara Kannada district for reportedly asking students to remove rakhis tied during Raksha Bandhan.
- The parents alleged that the management of Loyola School in Karwar told around 200 students to remove their rakhis. Later, Hindu organisations joined hands with the parents and staged a protest in front of the school.
- The protesters demanded that the school management should apologise for its act of getting rakhis removed from the hands of the students.

42. कॉन्वेंट स्कूल में हंगामा: छात्रों की कलाई से राखियां खुलवाने पर भड़के हिंदूवादी संगठन, जमकर की नारेबाजी
- उत्तर प्रदेश के बरेली में भमोरा रोड पर संग्रामपुर गांव स्थित होली फैमिली कॉन्वेंट स्कूल में को हिंदूवादी संगठन के कार्यकर्ताओं ने हंगामा किया। सोमवार को यहां के स्टाफ ने छात्र-छात्राओं को रक्षाबंधन मनाने से मना किया था और उनकी कलाई पर बंधी राखियों को खुलवा दिया था।
- हिंदू जागरण मंच, विश्व हिंदू परिषद, बजरंग दल और क्षत्रिय महासभा के कार्यकर्ताओं का कहना था कि स्कूल से घर पहुंचकर बच्चों ने अपने अभिभावकों को बताया कि भोजनावकाश में हाईस्कूल की छात्राओं ने छात्रों को राखी बांधी थी। कक्षा में पहुंची शिक्षिका ने विद्यार्थियों की कलाई पर बंधी राखियां खुलवा दीं और कुछ की राखियों को चाकू से काटकर हटाया था।
- कार्यकर्ताओं ने कहा कि क्षेत्र के मिशनरी स्कूल भारतीय त्योहारों व संस्कृति का अपमान कर रहे हैं। इसे बर्दाश्त किया जाएगा। स्कूल स्टाफ का कहना था कि उन्होंने छात्र-छात्राओं से कहा कि रक्षाबंधन दो दिन बाद है, अभी न मनाएं। प्रधानाचार्य की गैरमौजूदगी में उपप्रधानाचार्य सोफी मारिया ने लिखित में माफी मांगी।

43. UP: Catholic school in Hapur forces students to throw away rakhis, rub off tilak from forehead, complaint filed
- A Catholic school in Uttar Pradesh’s Tatarpur, St. Anthony’s Senior Secondary School in Hapur has been accused of insulting the Hindu religion and culture by forcing the students to remove tilak and Rakhis at the school.
- The teachers at the school are also said to have insulted the Hindu deities after which the parents of the students registered an official complaint to the police and also wrote to the CM’s office.
- The teachers at the school located in Tatarpur, Ghaziabad forced the students to remove the rakhis that they had adorned on their wrists. The rakhis were then thrown into the dustbin.

44. After crown, Suresh Gopi offers golden rosary to Thrissur's Lourdes Church
- Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Ministry of Tourism, Suresh Gopi, presented a golden rosary to the Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral here on Saturday. The minister arrived at the Lourdes Church around 9 am to make the offering.
- Union Minister was welcomed by the Vicar of Lourdes Church, Father Davis Pulikottil, and the church committee members. After offering the golden rosary, Suresh Gopi prayed before departing. Father Davis Pulikottil expressed happiness over Suresh Gopi's visit to the cathedral.
- On January 15, 2024 that Suresh Gopi along with his family visited the church and offered the crown weighing over 500 grams to Mother Mary in the presence of Fr Pulikottil and trustee member Dalsan Davis Pellissery.

45. Believers Church extends support to BJP candidate Anil Antony in Pathanamthitta
- As Kerala heads to poll in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 26, the Believers Church in Pathanamthitta constituency extended support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Anil Antony.
- This is the first time that a church body has publicly supported a BJP candidate. Antony attended a meeting organised by the Believers Eastern Church in Thiruvalla which was attended by over 100 priests.
- The Metropolitan of Kerala, Mar Silvanious, and the Church PRO Rev. Father Sijo Panthapallil attended the meeting, where the church supported Anil Antony's candidature as Lok Sabha representative from Pathanamthitta.

46. Brooklyn preacher who boasted of ties to NYC mayor gets 9 years in prison for multiyear fraud
- A flashy Brooklyn preacher Lamor Miller-Whitehead, 45, of Paramus who has played up connections to New York City’s mayor was sentenced to nine years in prison for multiple frauds. Besides the prison term, Miller-Whitehead also was ordered to pay $85,000 in restitution and to forfeit $95,000.
- In March, 2024 a jury convicted Miller-Whitehead of all charges, including wire fraud, attempted extortion and making false statements. Schofield said the preacher committed perjury when he testified.
- Accused was sentenced in Manhattan federal court, who said she didn’t see meaningful remorse from the Rolls Royce-driving bishop convicted of fleecing one parishioner out of $90,000 in retirement savings, among other scams.
- Miller-Whitehead became a religious figure in 2013 when he formed the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries.

47. Jesuits in Bolivia admit their actions were ‘disastrous’ in dealing with sexual abuse
- The Jesuits of Bolivia admitted that their actions were “negligent, indolent, and disastrous” in response to the sexual abuse of minors by priests such as the late Luis María Roma, who kept a diary and had photographs and videos of the Indigenous girls he allegedly abused.
- In another notorious case, “Padre Pica” also kept a diary in which he admitted abusing up to 85 boys and adolescents.
- In a statement dated June 16, 2024 the Society of Jesus in Bolivia recognized “with deep regret that the actions of those who were in charge of addressing the complaints of sexual abuse of girls, boys, and adolescents and acting on behalf of the victims were negligent, indolent, and disastrous.”
- The case of Roma, who was a priest for 66 years, came to light in 2019. Although the number of victims is not known, it is known that Roma was accused of abusing minor girls between 7 and 12 years of age in the town of Charagua in southern Bolivia. The complaint was supported by photographs that were the property of the priest.
- The priest Roma lived in that town in the Santa Cruz district from 1994–2005; while the abuse would have occurred between 1998 and 2002.

48. Former pastor indicted charges sex crimes against juvenile
- Former pastor of First Baptist Church in USA's Long Beach 53-year-old John Jones at a Long Beach church has been indicted on sex crime charges.
- Investigation began in November 2022 after the victim’s family.The indictment was handed down June 3, 2024. Pastor was arrested June 15, 2024.
- The first incident of sexual battery took place between May 1, 2021 and February 14, 2022. The second incident of sexual battery allegedly took place between February 15, 2022 and September 30, 2022. The third incident of touching a child for lustful purposes took place between May 1, 2021 and September 30, 2022.
- A Harrison County jury indicted pastor on two counts of sexual battery and one count of touching a child for lustful purposes. The female victim was under the age of 14.

49. Troy man reaches $1M settlement with Warren Co., church over alleged sexual abuse
- A Troy man John Smith has reached a $1 million settlement with Warren County and the United Methodist Church after he claimed he was sexually abused as a foster child. Warren County paid $750,000 and the church paid $125,000 to settle the case.
- Victim John Smith had failed a lawsuit under the Child Victims Act alleging he was abused by Richard Reynolds, his foster parent and pastor of the United Methodist Church. The abuse took place from 1978 to 1981 from when he was 11 to when he was 13.
- Accused Reynolds had served at North Creek Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Gloversville and was a foster parent for Warren County.
- The Church sent Reynolds for sexual deviancy treatment, and then allowed Reynolds back into its congregation to continue serving in leadership positions where he would have access to children.

50. सिरो मालाबार चर्च सामूहिक प्रार्थना विवाद: प्रदर्शनकारी पादरियों की लैटिन चर्च से दखल की मांग
- केरल में सिरो-मालाबार चर्च में सामूहिक प्रार्थना को लेकर बढ़ते विवाद के बीच, एर्नाकुलम-अंगामाली आर्चडायोसिस की प्रेस्बिाइटेरल काउंसिल के सचिव ने लैटिन कैथोलिक चर्च के सभी आर्चबिशप और बिशप को एक पत्र भेजकर इस मामले में हस्तक्षेप करने की मांग की ।
- पत्र में आर्चडायोसिस के प्रेस्बिाइटेरल काउंसिल के सचिव फादर कुरियाकोस मुंडादन ने आरोप लगाया कि एर्नाकुलम-अंगामाली आर्चडायोसिस के मेजर आर्कबिशप और अपोस्टोलिक प्रशासक द्वारा जारी परिपत्र में आर्चडायोसिस के प्रदर्शनकारी पादरियों को धमकी दी गई है कि यदि वे 3 जुलाई, 2024 तक ‘यूनिफॉर्म होली मास’ या ‘सिनॉड मास’ (सामूहिक प्रार्थना) में शामिल नहीं होते हैं, तो उन्हें बहिष्कृत कर दिया जाएगा।
- लैटिन चर्च और सिरो-मालाबार चर्च दोनों ही कैथोलिक चर्च के अंतर्गत स्वायत्त चर्च हैं, जो पोप के अधिकार के तहत आते हैं।
