2121. Auto exports rise 19% to 53.6L units in FY25
- On 21 April 2025 Auto exports rose by 19% to over 53 lakh units in FY25, driven by robust demand for passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and commercial vehicles in overseas markets.
- Overall exports last fiscal stood at 53.6 lakh units as compared to 45 lakh units in FY24. Passenger vehicle shipments rose by 15% to 7.7 lakh units.
- The segment reported its best ever yearly performance last fiscal driven by demand for global models being manufactured in India, industry body Siam stated.agencies

2122. Arunachal CM unveils Rs 100 crore projects in Indo-China border town Mechuka
- On April 19, 2025, Arunachal Pradesh CM inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 100 crore in Mechuka, Shi Yomi district, located 40 km from the Indo-China border.
- Key infrastructure projects under the CMCSRDP include a ₹24 crore township road in Tato, a ₹6.5 crore Bailey bridge over Yargapchu, a ₹31 crore steel composite bridge at Tsenang, and roads in Drongsar and Roing village.
- In tourism and sports, Khandu launched an Adventure Zone, a multipurpose sports stadium in Monigong, and an indoor hall in Mechuka, boosting the area’s scenic and cultural tourism potential.
- Supported by the Vibrant Village Programme and PMGSY-III, these initiatives aim to enhance border connectivity, improve livelihoods, and promote tourism in Mechuka, as highlighted by Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona.

2123. Amaravati set to become world's first fully renewable-powered city
- On 20 April 2025, It was Reported that, Amaravati, the planned capital of Andhra Pradesh, is set to create history as it targets to become the world's first city to be powered entirely by renewable energy as town planners look to build an ultra-modern yet environmentally sustainable 'people's capital'.
- With an ambitious plan to harness 2,700 megawatts (MW) of green energy, the city aims to meet all its electricity needs through sustainable sources like solar, wind, and hydropower, officials said.
- Officials said by 2050, Amaravati is projected to require 2700 MW (2.7 Gigawatt) of power, with a minimum of 30 per cent sourced from renewable energy, including solar and wind energy.
2124. BHEL Reports 19% Revenue Growth, Secures Record Orders In FY 2024-25
- On 20 April 2025, It was reported that, State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) reported a 19% rise in revenue for 2024–25, reaching ₹27,350 crore, driven by a robust order book, with record-high order inflows of ₹92,534 crore primarily from the power sector, taking its total order book to ₹1.95 trillion by the end of the fiscal year.
- BHEL maintained its leadership in the power sector by winning orders worth Rs. 81,349 crores. The industrial segment recorded fresh orders worth Rs. 11,185 crores, showcasing the company’s diversified presence across sectors such as transportation, defence, process industries, and industrial equipment.
- On the execution front, BHEL commissioned/synchronised 8.1 GW of power capacity, demonstrating its continued focus on project delivery and operational efficiency.

2125. Odisha inaugurates Khelo India Centers in every district
- On 20 April 2025, In a major push to strengthen grassroots sports infrastructure, Khelo India Centers have been inaugurated across all districts of Odisha with joint support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the State Sports and Youth Services Department.
- Launched under the guidance of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the initiative aims to develop world-class sports facilities and nurture young talent in disciplines like football, volleyball, hockey, athletics, kho-kho, kabaddi, and more. Each center will receive an annual grant of Rs. 5 lakh for efficient operation and athlete development.
- Odisha Sports Minister announced the launch alongside the start of the fifth edition of the Kalinga Super Cup, which begins 20 Aril 2025 in Bhubaneswar at the iconic Kalinga Stadium.
2126. Telangana government inks Rs 10,500 crore MoU with Japanese IT firms during CM Revanth's visit
- The NTT DATA, a global leader in digital transformation and IT services, and Neysa Networks, an AI-first cloud platform company, have signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government in Japan on 18 April,2025, to establish a AI Data Center Cluster in Hyderabad with an investment of Rs 10,500 crore.
- A release from the Chief Minister's office said it would help build India’s largest AI Compute Infrastructure. The upcoming facility in Hyderabad will feature a 400 MW data centre cluster, designed to host the country’s most powerful AI super computing infrastructure with 25,000 GPUs.
- The project aligns with the Telangana government's vision to be the AI capital of India, offering sovereign, scalable and sustainable compute capabilities to support public and enterprise AI workloads.

2127. Gujarat launches SpaceTech Policy; aims to attract $5 billion investment in 5yrs
- The Gujarat government on 17 April 2025, launched the Gujarat SpaceTech Policy (2025–2030) with an aim of attracting “investments worth USD 5 billion over the next five years” and creating “employment for 25,000 people”, a senior official said.
- A statement issued by the government said that the policy, inspired by the legacy of the father of the Indian space programme, Vikram Sarabhai, seeks to “foster innovation, attract investment, and drive private sector participation in India’s rapidly growing space economy.”
- In collaboration with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) and the department of space, Gujarat plans to develop a dedicated space manufacturing park equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and common technical facilities, as per the policy.

2128. Troops get 4G/5G connectivity at high-altitude posts in Ladakh on China & Pak frontiers
- On April 19, 2025, Army troops and civilians in remote border villages of Ladakh, including high-altitude posts along China and Pakistan frontiers, gained access to reliable 4G and 5G mobile connectivity for the first time.
- The initiative, led by the Army’s 14 Corps, covers areas like Galwan, Daulat Beg Oldie, Siachen Glacier, and Batalik, boosting morale for soldiers at isolated posts above 18,000 feet by enabling family contact.
- Through a whole-of-government approach, the Army partnered with telecom providers and Ladakh administration, using optical fibre infrastructure to install mobile towers, including a 5G tower in Siachen.
- Beyond troop welfare, the connectivity enhances local economies, border tourism, medical services, and education in remote villages, reducing migration and integrating them into the national digital network.
2129. FY25 India pharma exports cross $30 billion, surge 31% in March
- On 19 April 2025, It was reported that, India’s annual drug and pharmaceutical exports touched a record $30 billion in FY25 bolstered by a 31% year-on-year surge in March.
- Granular details for March are awaited, Pharmexcil DG said. Data for April-February show drug formulations and biologicals as a product category led with $20118.18 million and accounted for more than 75% of the total exports.
- Regionwise, NAFTA, Europe, Africa and LAC were the four major regions together accounting for 76% of India’s pharma exports. Of them NAFTA accounted for 36.60% with the exports increasing 14.06% to $9804.78 million.

2130. South India's first AC EMU train unveiled on Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu route
- South India’s first air-conditioned Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train began its services On 19 April 2025, on the busy Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu route with the Southern Railway introducing the services in peak Summer.
- While the minimum fare (up to 10 km) on the AC train, the maximum fare (50 km -60 km) is fixed at Rs 105, even as the Southern Railways announced monthly passes starting from Rs 620.
- Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu and Chennai Beach-Tambaram are two busy routes that connect the city with many of its suburbs. “It is a welcome move that the trains have been introduced during peak summer,” Richard said, adding that the Southern Railway should consider running AC trains during office rush hour.
