- On January 29, 2026, the Centre informed the Lok Sabha that it spent ₹37,851 crore over five years on National Highway development and maintenance in Jammu and Kashmir, with spending rising sharply after 2020–21.
- The government said 976 km of National Highways were added in J&K in five years, focusing on widening, tunnels, and all-weather connectivity in hilly and remote areas.
- Parliament was told that J&K recorded 8,920 highway accidents and 1,508 fatalities in five years, leading to targeted safety measures and expanded use of Advanced Traffic Management Systems.
- Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), which include AI-based video incident detection and electronic enforcement tools, have already been installed along about 19,000 km of National Highways nationwide

- Miranda House researchers, led by Prof. Monika Tomar, with DRDO, created a portable BioFET sensor that analyses three blood biomarkers simultaneously from serum to alert users when levels indicate elevated cardiac risk.
- The device supports point-of-care use like a glucometer, took about five years to develop, costs 50–60% less thanks to in-house fabrication, and is now in DRDO trials before potential military adoption.

- Deendayal Port Authority partnered with Oswal Greenzo Energies (a joint venture of Oswal Energies and Greenzo Energy India), which will design, supply, install, test, and commission the plant on an EPC basis.

- On January 29, 2026, Indian Railways approved 202 additional train stoppages at 82 stations under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), covering parts of Assam, West Bengal and Bihar, to strengthen regional rail connectivity.
- The initiative, led by Indian Railways/NFR officials, will roll out the new halts phased and experimentally, adding stops for major services like Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, Mail/Express trains, to meet public demand and improve access.
