23971. India's defence exports grow by 334 percent in last 5 years; Defence Minister says India is ready to meet defence requirements of other countries
- Addressing the Ambassadors' Round Table Conference on DEFEXPO-22 in New Delhi, Mr Singh said, India's export performance is a strong indicator of the quality and competitiveness of the defence products.
- India has increased the defence capital outlay in the annual budget of 2021-22 by 18.75 per cent from the preceding year.
- This is the highest ever increment in the last 15 years. Mr Singh said, government has taken several initiatives to modernise Armed Forces and produce high quality and cost-effective weapon systems and platforms.

23972. First consignment of walnuts from Budgam dispatched under ODOP initiative
- The first consignment of Kashmiri walnuts was flagged off from Budgam.
- A truck carrying 2,000 kilograms was dispatched to Bengaluru, Karnataka under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
- Horticulturists and trade representatives recommended the way forward includes domestic and international marketing through Buyer-Seller Meets, e-commerce on boarding of more agricultural and handicraft/handloom products as well as creating product/scheme awareness for products from each district which will be supported by the ODOP initiative.

23973. चावल, फल-सब्जियां, पोल्ट्री उत्पादों समेत भारत के कुल कृषि निर्यात में 22 फीसदी की बढ़ोतरी
- एपीडा के उत्पादों का कुल निर्यात 2020 के अप्रैल-अगस्त के 6,485 मिलियन डॉलर की तुलना में 2021 के अप्रैल-अगस्त के दौरान बढ़कर 7,902 मिलियन डॉलर तक पहुंच गया।
- WTO के व्यापार मानचित्र के अनुसार, वर्ष 2019 में 37 बिलियन डॉलर के कुल कृषि-निर्यातों के साथ भारत विश्व रैकिंग में नौवें स्थान पर है।
- निर्यात किए जाने वाले उत्पादों का निर्बाधित गुणवत्ता प्रमाणन सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एपीडा ने उत्पादों तथा निर्यातकों के एक व्यापक रेंज को परीक्षण की सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराने के लिए भारत भर में 220 प्रयोगशालाओं को मान्यता दी है।

23975. Odisha sets Rs 1L-cr export target by 2025
- India aims at achieving 400-billion-dollar merchandise export this fiscal and Odisha has set a target of Rs 1-lakh-crore exports by 2025 while the State is confident of achieving the feat this year itself.

23976. India records 22% rise in export of agricultural & processed food products in April-August
- India has achieved significant growth of 21.8 per cent in the export of agricultural and processed food products in April-August 2021-22 over the corresponding period of 2020-21.
- It has increased from $6,485 million in April-August 2020 to $7,902 million in April-August 2021.
- The export of rice increased 13.7 per cent Cashew exports a growth of 28.5 per cent in April-August 2021. India recorded a significant growth of 142.1 per cent in exports of other cereals

23977. 50 Year Long Ban On Export Of Fresh Apricots From Ladakh Lifted
- Apricot is the primary cash crop for the farmers of Kargil and its export to different states and foreign countries will provide a major boost to the local farmers.
- According to the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), nearly 62 per cent of India’s apricots are produced in Ladakh.
- Krishak Agritech, a farmer-centric organization, has exported 20 MT of fresh apricot worth Rs 30 lacs procured from more than 200 farmers of UT Ladakh.

23978. Hyperlocal plan: J&K pencil, Karnataka LED in exports push
- To promoting exports, the government has pushed traditional produce, such as cashews from Goa or chillies from Guntur.
- South Goa’s Feni and Muzaffarpur’s Shahi litchis and Darjeeling Tea do occupy a majority of the slots in the initial list of 106 products, there are some surprise additions — from LED bulbs in Karnataka’s Chitradurga to wine from Nashik
- The task of ODOP is being handled by Invest India, which has worked on the initial list and is in the process of preparing a list for all 739 districts. IITs, IIMs, NID and NIFTs are also being roped in for identifying potential solutions and adoption of minimalist technology to enhance productivity and supply chain without disrupting the traditional ecosystem.

23979. Mobile ‘Govt has met 38% of FY22 exports target
- Despite the impact of the second wave, mobile phone exports recorded a 250% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth in the April-June period.
- The government has set an ambitious target of USD $400 billion exports for financial year 2021-22 and 38% of this target has already been achieved by August.
