- Prime Minister of India inaugurated Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro, flagging off metro services from the Mahatma Mandir Metro Station in Gandhinagar, significantly boosting urban transport connectivity in Gujarat.
- A 7.8-kilometre stretch of the metro corridor was opened to the public, with seven stations. Mahatma Mandir, Sector-24, Sector-16, Old Secretariat, Akshardham, Secretariat, and Sector-10 becoming operational, expanding the metro network between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
- With the commissioning of this section, commuters can now travel seamlessly along the 28.25-km route, ensuring faster, safer, and more comfortable travel, easing traffic congestion and aligning with the government’s vision for modern urban transport infrastructure.

- The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), a scheme providing comprehensive coverage for farmers against crop losses caused by unpredictable natural disasters, has disbursed Rs 1.75 lakh crore in claims to more than 23.22 crore farmers over the past nine years.
- Launched in 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, PMFBY has played a crucial role in stabilizing farmers’ incomes while promoting the adoption of innovative agricultural practices.
- The scheme witnessed a 25% growth in farmer enrolment in 2023-24 compared to the previous year, demonstrating its growing popularity. The scheme has paid out Rs.1.75 lakh crore in claims since its inception and has been implemented across 23 states and Union Territories. In 2023-24, non-loanee farmers’ coverage increased to 55% of the total coverage.
- The Union Cabinet, recognizing PMFBY’s impact, approved its continuation along with the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) till 2025-26, with a budget of Rs.69,515.71 crore.

- The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the launch of the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, an umbrella programme that merges 36 existing schemes to uplift India’s agriculture sector.

- The Bharuch to Kim section of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway part of Package 5 of the Vadodara–Mumbai corridor has been prepared and opened for traffic on a trial basis as construction and structural work is largely complete.
- With this section becoming functional for trial use, the stretch between Vadodara and Surat now has uninterrupted expressway connectivity. However, safety works and final touches are still underway and full official operations may be delayed by about one to two weeks.
- Opening this stretch is a key step in completing the Vadodara–Surat portion of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. Once fully operational, it will significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity between central and south Gujarat on the national expressway network.
