191. Kandla Port Signs Deal To Set Up India’s First Port-Based Green Hydrogen Plant, Pushing Maritime Operations Towards Clean Energy
- On January 28–29, 2026, Deendayal Port Authority (Kandla Port), Gujarat signed a pact to build India’s first port-based 5 MW green hydrogen plant, advancing clean maritime operations and energy transition.
- Deendayal Port Authority partnered with Oswal Greenzo Energies (a joint venture of Oswal Energies and Greenzo Energy India), which will design, supply, install, test, and commission the plant on an EPC basis.
- The plant is expected to produce about 840 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, reduce maritime carbon emissions, support port and logistics clean fuel use, align with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, and propel sustainable port development.
192. Indian Railways add 202 new train stoppages across Northeast
- On January 29, 2026, Indian Railways approved 202 additional train stoppages at 82 stations under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), covering parts of Assam, West Bengal and Bihar, to strengthen regional rail connectivity.
- The initiative, led by Indian Railways/NFR officials, will roll out the new halts phased and experimentally, adding stops for major services like Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, Mail/Express trains, to meet public demand and improve access.
- Several premium and long-distance trains (e.g., New Jalpaiguri–Guwahati Vande Bharat, Anand Vihar–Agartala Rajdhani) now halt at Rangiya, New Haflong, New Cooch Behar, Dhemaji, Sibsagar Town and more, benefiting smaller towns and emerging locations.
193. Metro propulsion systems Titagarh signs agreement with ABB for metro propulsion systems
- On January 29, 2026, Titagarh Rail Systems signed an agreement with ABB India in Kolkata to deliver 25 kV metro propulsion systems and technology transfer to bolster metro manufacturing.
- Titagarh Rail Systems and ABB India will collaborate through design, supply, testing, and phased local production of propulsion components, including technology transfer for Train Control and Monitoring Systems.
- The pact supports “Make in India” and Atmanirbhar Bharat, builds on earlier TCMS tech acquisition (750 V), adds co-production of converters/traction motors, and expands metro capabilities under India’s 2047 vision.
194. 420 e-Hospitals established under Digital India initiative
- 420 e-Hospitals have been established across the country as part of the Central government's Digital India initiative.
- The e-Hospital system aims to reduce hospital queues and improve efficiency, and has recorded over 18 crore digital transactions across participating hospitals.
- The e-Hospital is an initiative of Digital India that has made it easy for the citizens to take appointments in major hospitals. Now there is no need to stand in long queues to take appointments, when you can get it online.
195. 22 New AIIMS, 75 GMCs Approved for Upgradation Under PMSSY: JP Nadda Health informs Lok Sabha
- The upgradation of 75 Government Medical Colleges and Institutions (GMCIs), including Patliputra Medical College in Dhanbad and Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi, along with the establishment of 22 new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
- Including one at Deoghar in Jharkhand, have been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) to offer super speciality healthcare facilities across the country.
- Additionally, a total of 157 Medical Colleges have been approved in the country under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for ‘Establishment of new Medical Colleges attached to existing district/referral hospitals'.
196. E-Sanjeevani platform conducts over 31 cr teleconsultations: Union Minister
- The e-Sanjeevani platform, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), has conducted 31.86 crore teleconsultations till December 2024. Total 31.86 crores Teleconsultations has been conducted till 31.12.2024.
- The platform consists of two modules: (i) e-Sanjeevani OPD: Facilitating doctor-to-patient consultations remotely; and (ii) e-Sanjeevani AAMs: Connecting Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) with specialist doctors for better healthcare accessibility in remote areas.
- The platform, which includes e-Sanjeevani OPD, helps reduce pressure on physical health facilities by enabling remote consultations, especially in underserved areas. The government also highlighted ongoing upgrades in public hospital equipment and quality initiatives such as the “Mera Aspataal” feedback system.
197. Ayushman Bharat benefited over 45 crore citizens: National Health Authority
- The flagship Ayushman Bharat scheme has benefited over 45 crore citizens in the country, according to the National Health Authority's (NHA) annual report.
- The Annual Report 2024-25 highlighted that the schemes led to a massive expansion of health coverage. Over 9.19 crore hospital admissions facilitated under AB PM-JAY with treatment worth ₹1,29,386 crore.
- More than 30,000 hospitals (55 per cent public and 45 per cent private) are empanelled under the scheme, ensuring nationwide accessibility. A whopping 82 per cent of beneficiaries belonged to rural areas. Over 40.45 crore Ayushman cards were issued, covering 14.69 crore families.
- The ABDM drove digital health transformation in the country, the report said, citing 76.5 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA), which linked 51.3 crore health records, covering 6 in 10 Indians.
198. India Operationalizes 1.8 Lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Over 130 Crore NCD Screenings Complete
- India has operationalised 1,80,906 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) across the country as of October 31, 2025, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.
- Ayushman Arogya Mandirs offer 12 comprehensive primary healthcare packages, covering reproductive and child health services; management of non-communicable diseases; mental health; palliative and rehabilitative care; oral, eye, and ENT care; and first-level emergency and trauma management.
- To support this expanded service basket, drug and diagnostic availability has been strengthened, with 172 drugs and 63 diagnostics provided at PHC-AAMs, and 106 drugs and 14 diagnostics at SHC-AAMs.
- Launched in 2018, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs deliver an expanded range of primary healthcare services beyond maternal and child care, including management of non-communicable diseases, mental health conditions, palliative and rehabilitative services, oral/eye/ENT care, and basic emergency.
199. Over 17000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras opened nationwide till November 30: Minister tells Parliament
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) scheme, a total of 17,610 Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) have been opened across the country as on 30.11.2025, of which 277 JAKs have been opened in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
- With a view to further expand the coverage of the scheme, the Government has set a target to open 25,000 JAKs by March 2027. JAKs are opened by inviting applications from individual entrepreneurs, non-governmental organisations, societies, trusts, firms, private companies, etc.
- Uttar Pradesh leads in numbers with 3,731 centres, followed by Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Cumulative sales under the scheme during the last five financial years have exceeded ₹6,290 crore (MRP value).
- The government has set a target to expand the network to 25,000 Kendras by March 2027 to increase access to affordable quality medicines.
200. India–EU FTA Opens Unprecedented Market Access For Indian Exporters & MSMEs: FIEO President
- On January 28, 2026, the India–EU Free Trade Agreement was concluded in New Delhi, opening unprecedented market access for Indian exporters and MSMEs into the European Union’s goods and services market.
- FIEO President S C Ralhan said the deal, achieved through negotiations since 2022, reduces tariffs up to 10 % on $33 billion of exports, empowering labour-intensive sectors, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, artisans, and youth.
- The FTA covers trade in goods/services, customs facilitation, digital trade, and mobility; improves regulatory cooperation, IP protection, and services opportunities; protects sensitive sectors, enhances consumer access, and aligns with India’s inclusive export-led growth goals.
