Judiciary :- In one of the first orders passed under the newly-enacted Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the Punjab and Haryana High Court has held that Section 531 of the BNSS provides that pending appeals filed before the BNSS came into force has to be adjudicated under the old law , i.e. Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

FSSAI cancels manufacturing licences of 111 spice producers
Health :- The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has revoked the manufacturing licenses of 111 spice producers nationwide. This action followed the identification of quality issues in samples tested by the FSSAI. The revoked licenses primarily belong to smaller producers from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with ongoing scrutiny of companies in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. Notably, samples from well-known brands like Everest, MDH, Catch, and Badshah are also part of a larger nationwide testing initiative encompassing 4,000 samples.

Environment :- India Becomes the First Country to Prepare Full List of Fauna. India recently launched the “Fauna of India Checklist Portal,” which is a major step toward protecting wildlife.
This complete collection lists 1,04,561 species, making India the first country in the world to record all of its wildlife. The launch took place in Kolkata on the 109th Foundation Day of the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI).

Gujarat, Initiatives for citizen - The Gujarat government has been running Sujalam Sufalam Jal Yojana (SSJA) for the last seven years (2017) to conserve the maximum amount of rainwater in the large and small water bodies.
Under this year's campaign, an additional water storage capacity of 4,946 lakh cubic feet was created in central Gujarat, 2,831 lakh cubic feet in north Gujarat, 2,700 lakh cubic feet in the Saurashtra-Kutch region and 1,046 lakh cubic feet in south Gujarat.

Supreme Court pulls up Madhya Pradesh High Court for refusing bail to 70-year-old blind convict.
Judiciary :- The Supreme Court on July 3, 2024 expressed displeasure with the Madhya Pradesh High Court's order for adopting a casual approach in refusing to consider the plea of a 70-year-old ailing man for the suspension of the sentence. While granting bail to the petitioner, the Supreme Court said that the plea for a suspension of sentence should be considered liberally in cases of fixed term sentences, unless an exceptional circumstance arises.

This video is not from India but from Brazil. This video is going viral since the year 2022.

Kerala High Court acquits man on death row after 11 years of imprisonment
Judiciary :- The Kerala High Court freed a man who was on death row since 2018 and who had remained in prison for over a decade in connection with a murder case.
"All through his long incarceration, the imminence of death had been looming. Now that we have found that there was no evidence," the Court noted.
The High Court also awarded the now-acquitted man, Gireesh Kumar, ₹5 lakhs as compensation for his wrongful imprisonment of eleven years and the trauma he suffered while facing the death sentence.

Islamization of Europe :- A 34-year-old Iranian muslim migrant has been shot dead in Germany after attacking three police officers with a knife. The attack occurred in Lauf an der Pegnitz in Central Franconia on 30 June 2024. The knifeman first attacked a patrol car on Eckertstrasse near the train station before lunging at officers. He was then shot by police, the attacker died at the scene.

Afterward, he started brutally assaulting her with shoes which led to her demise. The accused TMC leader has been identified as Vishwajit Acharya and he is a member of the local panchayat. Incidentally, this was the sixth unfortunate case of public brutality which resulted in the death of the victim within just 11 days in west Bengal.

According to Bram Alden, the assistant US attorney and Criminal Appeals chief, Rana is extraditable under the provisions of the US-India extradition treaty.
Rana, who is currently in a Los Angeles jail, is associated with David Coleman Headley, a Pakistani-American terrorist and one of the main conspirators.
