- Hyderabad headquartered infra giant Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) is all set to set up an oil drilling rig manufacturing plant in Telangana and to deliver 47 oil and gas rigs worth $860 million to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
- MEIL has acquired Drillmec, the Italian global leader in oil and gas exploration, and the company will invest US $ 200 million in its Hyderabad manufacturing facility, which will become a Global Oil Rig Manufacturing Hub.
- t, the facility will help in generating 4000 new employment opportunities. Meanwhile, Drillmeck currently has a turnover of US $200 million per year.

- 1. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, which became the first academic institute to get a nod from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) for its COVID-19 test kit, has given non-exclusive open licence to Bengaluru-based biotechnology firm Genie Laboratories for commercialising the test, but with a price rider of Rs 500 per kit.The kits are being manufactured at a facility at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Vishakhapatnam, and are expected to be available in the market in the next 10 days.
- 2. "Over 40 companies, including a few big names, have reached out to us to commercialise the test. We will be giving open licences to companies which meet the quality criterion set by us. We are also giving the licence with a price rider so that companies do not hike the price once commercialised. We have shortlisted Genie laboratories as the first one, but there will be more companies too," IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal told PTI.
- 3. According to the IIT Delhi team, the current testing methods available are "probe-based" while the one developed by the IIT team is a "probe-free" method, which reduces the testing cost without compromising on accuracy.

- 1) The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) here on Sunday said it has developed a cotton mask using a herbal extract, and claimed that it acts as "virus-neutraliser and resists pathogens effectively.
- 2) A herbal extract obtained from neem oil, turmeric, tulsi (holy basil), ajwain (carom seeds), black pepper, gum arabic, clove, sandalwood and saffron has been used in the non-woven nano-fibre of this three-layered biodegradable mask, named 'pavitrapati, a patented invention, DIAT's metallurgical and materials engineering department Prof Balasubramanian K said.
- 3) This provides "antibacterial and antiviral properties", he claimed, adding that these additives are immunity-boosting agents for self-care, as per guidelines of the AYUSH Ministry. "The product is antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, porous, super-hydrophobic (outer layer of mask), hydrophilic (inner layer) and biodegradable and it will be very useful in our fight against COVID-19, said Balasubramanian.

- कोरोना दौर में पुणे में 9वीं कक्षा के एक स्टूडेंट ने एक ऐसा रोबोट (Robot) तैयार किया है जो कोविड-19 वार्ड में डॉक्टर और नर्सों की काफी मदद करेगा।
- यह रोबोट नर्सों के विकल्प के रूप में काम करेगा और मरीजों को दवाइयां पहुंचाएगा। दस्तूर हाई स्कूल में पढ़ने वाले 14 साल के विराज शाह ने नायडू अस्पताल को अपना रोबोट दान किया है।विराज को बहुत कम उम्र में ही रोबोट के निर्माण में मन लगने लगा। उन्होंने लॉकडाउन के समय का भरपूर इस्तेमाल किया और एक नेक काम के लिए रोबोट का आविष्कार किया। रोबोट के लिए बेसिक स्कैलटन तैयार करने के बाद उन्होंने पुणे नगरपालिका (पीएमसी) कमिश्नर शेखर गायकवाड़ से मुलाकात की। शेखर ने विराज को सलाह दी कि रैंडम प्लान पर संसाधन बर्बाद करने के बजाय उन्हें हेल्थ स्टाफर से मिलकर स्थिति समझनी चाहिए।
- दो इंजीनियरिंग स्टूडेंट ने मदद की - विराज ने बताया, 'मैंने नायडू अस्पताल का दौरा किया जहां मैंने स्टाफर से बातचीत की। वे सभी मरीजों को दवाइयां और पानी दे रहे थे। इस छोटे से काम के लिए उन्हें पूरी पीपीई किट पहननी होती है। इसी दौरान मैंने तय किया कि मैं अपना रोबोट इसी काम के लिए दान करूंगा।' इसके बाद विराज ने प्रोटोटाइप पर दो इंजीनियरिंग स्टूडेंट के साथ काम किया, जो उनके साथ वॉलनटिअर्स के रूप में जुड़े थे।

- 1. The Minister of Finance, Health and Family Welfare of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, today launched the Viral Transport Media (VTM) Kits.
- 2. These affordable and sterile Viral Transport Media (VTM) kits, RT-PCR kits and RNA isolation kits have been developed at IIT Guwahati jointly with RR Animal Healthcare Ltd. with inputs from GMCH.
- 3. Due to the huge demand for these kits and the high price associated in their timely procurement, the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam had approached IIT Guwahati for their development and procurement. Sarma, said, Assam has been successfully leading the fight against COVID-19 pandemic and our initiatives have gone a long way in containing this disease in the entire NE region. We want to identify and contain this disease at an early stage and it is vital that we have all the crucial kits and materials so that our frontline healthcare workers and doctors who are doing a commendable job do not face any hurdles. We are very happy with this product development and launch of the VTM and other COVID-19 related kits in IIT Guwahati, Assam and I congratulate The Director, IIT Guwahati and the faculty members for this development as well as acknowledge other help being provided to us.

- 4. आईआईटी दिल्ली के डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ टेक्सटाइल टेक्नॉलजी में तैनात प्रफेसर ने बताया कि देश में लॉकडाउन लगने के समय वह उरई में थे और कहीं जा नहीं सके। इसी दौरान उन्हें अच्छी गुणवत्ता वाली और आरामदायक पीपीई किट तैयार करने का आइडिया आया। इसके बाद तुरंत उन्होंने एक परिचित की मदद से कानपुर स्थित एक औद्योगिक इकाई से संपर्क कर कच्चे माल की डिमांड की।

- प्राकृतिक आपदा, रेल और सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में घायल मरीजों का इलाज अब किसी भी खुली जगह पर जीवाणुओं (बैक्टीरिया) के संक्रमण के खतरे की चिंता किए बिना ही किया जा सकेगा। कानपुर की आर्डनेंस इक्विपमेंट फैक्ट्री ने ऐसा एंटी बैक्टीरियल टेंट बना लिया है जिसमें किसी भी जगह पर मरीजों का संक्रमण मुक्त इलाज किया जा सकता है।
- कपड़े के बने इस टेंट में एंटी बैक्टीरियल फैब्रिक की कोटिंग की गई है। कोटिंग के संपर्क में आने के बाद बाहर ही जीवाणु मर जाते हैं। टेंट की बड़ी खासियत यह भी है कि अधिक तापमान होने पर भी अंदर का तापमान सात से 10 डिग्री तक कम हो जाता है।
- चार मीटर लंबे और दो मीटर चौड़े इस टेंट में दो मरीजों का इलाज किया जा सकता है। महामारी के दौरान अस्पतालों में जगह फुल होने पर भी मरीज के इलाज के लिए इसका इस्तेमाल पार्क और खुले स्थान पर कर सकते हैं।
- ओईएफ के महाप्रबंधक डीसी श्रीवास्तव ने बताया कि टेंट में जरूरी मेडिकल उपकरण रखने की पर्याप्त जगह है।
- 5. टेंट बनाने की प्रक्रिया के तहत एंटी बैक्टीरियल प्रोसेसिंग करके कपड़े को संक्रमणमुक्त बनाया गया है। फैब्रिक की कोटिंग करके ऐसे तैयार किया गया है कि यह बैक्टीरिया से बचाव के लिए कवच की तरह काम करता है।
- 6. खुले में इलाज के दौरान बैक्टीरिया का संक्रमण मरीजों के लिए सबसे बड़ा खतरा होता है। बैक्टीरिया से सुरक्षित होने से यह टेंट उन्हेंं दोगुनी गति से ठीक करने में मददगार साबित होगा। बाहरी संक्रमण का खतरा न होने के रेगिस्तान, पहाड़ और जंगलों में भी कारगर इलाज किया जा सकेगा।
- 7. एंटी बैक्टीरियल टेंट में की गई फैब्रिक की कोटिंग धूल व धुएं के कण को भी रोकने में कारगर है। नजर न आने वाले अतिसूक्ष्म कण भी नहीं घुस सकते।
- 8. यह तकनीक विकसित करने में ओईएफ के वैज्ञानिकों को करीब एक साल का समय लगा।

- 1. Some women in the hill district of Ukhrul, Manipur are showing the way on how the wealth of the forest can enhance the livelihood and economic condition of society.
- 2. At least 3,300 women in the district are being trained in making various products, especially candies out of different wild fruits that are easily found in the nearby jungles, under the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK), a livelihood scheme for a forest dwellers development area through value addition of tribal products.
- 3. The scheme was initiated by the Union ministry of tribal affairs and Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED).
- 4. Recently, Manipur bagged the first position out of 22 states in the country under the tribal affairs ministry’s VDVK scheme.
- 5. Significantly, Hungpung Kazipphung cluster from Ukhrul, which comprises of 300 women, was adjudged the best VDVK of the year based on their gooseberry candy products and performances.
