- Bengaluru-based startup LokalPe is a jobs search platform for blue-collar workers who lost their gigs and returned to their villages after the coronavirus lockdown.
- Enter LokalPe, a job search platform that matches blue-collar workers with hyperlocal skill-based jobs at their base locations. LokalPe went live in June, and claims to have helped fill up over 2,000 vacancies in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh — states that recorded the highest rates of returning migrant labour.
- The Bengaluru-based startup caters to skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers, and generates micro-employment to build strong local communities. Job seekers can look for gigs in their areas, upload 15-second video resumes showcasing their skills, and choose from over 5,000 real-time vacancies. They can also filter their search based on age, gender, state, districts, and skill level. Job listings on LokalPe span across 45 categories, including cook, plumber, poultry farmer, security guard, driver, welder, tailor, florist, carpenter, shop helper, lift operator, factory worker, restaurant staff, and more.

- The rapid expansion in city gas networks undertaken by the Modi government will open a Rs 22,600 crore ‘Make in India’ market It is for ancillary equipment needed for piping natural gas to households and refuelling CNG vehicles, say a clutch of government notes. According to the notes, prepared for an oil ministry event on Thursday to showcase India’s CGD (city gas distribution) programme.
- The expansion of CNG and PNG services will also create nearly four lakh direct employment opportunities by 2027. Only 34 GAs (geographical areas, akin to licence areas across districts in a state) in the country had city gas distribution networks till 2014.
- The programme has an estimated investment potential of Rs 90,000 crore. The number of households with PNG connections will rise to over 4 crore from 55 lakh, while the number of CNG stations will go up from 1,838 to 10,000 by 2024. Such a scale of network expansion will need huge quantities of pipes, mechanical and smart meters, PNG regulators, compressors and boosters pumps etc, which will open up opportunities for domestic manufacturing. Similarly, the notes say there will be demand for 3.75 lakh skilled, semiskilled and unskilled manpower to run and maintain the networks.

- Swiss major IMR Metallurgical Resources-AG has proposed to set up a steel plant in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh at an investment of over Rs 12,000 crore and an annual production capacity of 10 million tonnes. This would be the second steel plant that has been proposed in Kadapa district in the Rayalaseema region of the state.
- The state government also entered into an agreement with National Mineral Development Corporation for supply of iron ore for the proposed steel plant, with a capacity of three million tonnes.
- IMR officials said their activities in iron ore, coal and gold mining extended to Indonesia, South Africa, Mexico, Columbia, Italy, Ukraine, besides India. The company was into power and steel production as well.

- Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc is finally stepping on the gas in India where it currently has only 3,100 rooms across 19 properties. The American hospitality major will add 3,200 rooms in 17 new properties over the next four years. While Hilton will be adding properties in some cities where it is already present like Jaipur, it will also venture into new markets like Hyderabad and Varanasi. There will be a greater focus on tier II cities in coming times, said Dhruv Hoon, Hilton India’s VP-development.
- Seven hotels are going to open in the next 22 months. The group plans to brings its top of the line Waldorf Astoria to India and is looking at Delhi, Mumbai ,Goa as one of the possible locations, luxury brands ‘Curio Collection’ and Tapestry Collection’ to India, Hoon added.
- All upcoming Hilton hotels in India will be “digital key” compliant. This opens any door a guest will normally access with a key card like room, elevators and fitness centre. “Open the app, and when you are within a few feet of a door.”

- a few Indian companies have American Depository Receipts (ADRs) that are traded in the US. The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to allow direct listing of Indian companies overseas, paving the way for many startups to tap overseas liquidity for their funding needs.
- This would require an amendment to Companies Act, 2013, for having enabling provisions that would permit foreign listing of Indian corporates.Currently, quite a few Indian companies have American Depository Receipts (ADRs) that are traded in the US.
- Some other corporations have their Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) listed in overseas exchanges.
