901. NFR Operates 620 Special Trains To Tackle Festive Rush In Northeast
- On October 22,2025, It was reported that, NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava stated that Indian Railways is operating 12,011 special trains nationwide this festive season -up from 7,724 last year 2024. Within the NFR zone, 48 special services will run, covering 620 trips between September and December 2025.
- Major stations -including Katihar, New Jalpaiguri, Guwahati, Jogbani, and Kishanganj - have been upgraded with expanded waiting areas, improved passenger info systems, extra ticket counters, and ATVMs. Round-the-clock war rooms, RPF staff, and crowd management teams have also been deployed.
- Festival special trains will connect northeast and eastern cities like Agartala, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Patna, Gorakhpur, Kolkata, Ranchi, Amritsar, and Bengaluru.

902. Amit Shah and Bhupendra Patel Inaugurate ₹805-Crore Six-Lane Sanand-Khoraj GIDC Road Project in Ahmedabad
- On October 23, 2025, Union Home and Cooperation Minister laid the foundation for the 28.8 km six-lane widening project of Shantipura–Khoraj GIDC section in Gujarat to improve traffic flow and connectivity in key industrial areas.
- The project is implemented by the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC), involving road widening, elevated flyovers, right-turn flyovers, underpasses, and culverts to enhance industrial and regional transport efficiency.
- The project includes 22.7 km service roads, 13 minor bridges, five underpasses, and a six-lane flyover, aimed at reducing congestion, improving safety, promoting fuel efficiency, and boosting economic and industrial growth in Sanand, Viramgam, and surrounding regions.

903. PM Modi Distributes 51,000+ Appointment Letters, Launches ‘Viksit Bharat Yojana’ to Provide 3.5 Crore Jobs
- On October 24, 2025 in New Delhi, Prime Minister addressed the 17th National Rozgar Mela, distributing over 51,000 appointment letters and launching the Viksit Bharat Yojana to create 3.5 crore jobs across India.
- Modi stated that youth empowerment remains central to India’s growth, highlighting initiatives like Steel India Mission, National Career Service, and Pratibha Setu for skill training and job linkage.
- Since October 2022, over 11 lakh appointment letters have been issued under the Rozgar Mela, while India’s foreign policy and global MoUs now focus on training, upskilling, and employment generation for the youth.

904. DPIIT signs MoU with Kotak Mahindra Bank to enhance financial and non-financial support for startups across India
- On October 24, 2025, it was reported that, the DPIIT signed an MoU with Kotak Mahindra Bank in New Delhi to enhance financial and non-financial support for startups, reinforcing India’s goal of becoming a global innovation hub.
- The DPIIT and Kotak Mahindra Bank will jointly provide customized banking solutions, funding access, mentorship, and digital infrastructure, enabling startups to grow through a comprehensive and innovation-led framework.
- The initiative offers zero-balance current accounts, loans, startup cards, API-based banking, digital payment tools, and advisory programs, supporting startups from ideation to market expansion and aligning with India’s self-reliance and entrepreneurship vision.
905. India's Processed Potato Exports Surge On Asian Snack Demand
- On October 23,2025, It was reported that Between FY2022 and FY2025, India’s processed potato exports rose from $11.4 million to $63.3 million, led by dehydrated granules and pellets, marking a 450% surge and expanding India’s role in Asia’s snack supply chain.
- According to GTRI, demand from Southeast and East Asia and supply gaps caused by Europe’s energy shocks and China’s inward shift helped India become a reliable, cost-effective supplier with year-round output.
- Exports of flour, starch, chips, and ready-to-eat potatoes also grew sharply; Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia lead buyers. Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh emerged as processing hubs with modern plants and contract farming boosting competitiveness.

906. Make-In-India drive in defence, Indian Army to buy 4.25 lakh indigenous rifles
- On October 23, 2025, the Indian Army signed a ₹2,772 crore contract to buy 425,000 indigenous CQB carbines from Bharat Forge and PLR Systems for army modernisation in India.
- Bharat Forge will produce 60% and PLR Systems 40% of the order; deliveries start next year, scaling indigenous production and supporting Make in India.
- The lightweight CQB carbines accept optical/tactical sights and suppressors, replace ageing 9x19mm Sterling carbines, and will improve accuracy, engagement speed, and survivability, the Army said.
907. Defence Ministry clears major military modernisation plans worth Rs 79000 crore
- On October 23, 2025 in New Delhi, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved ₹79,000 crore worth of capital acquisition proposals to boost the Army, Navy, and Air Force’s operational capabilities and self-reliance.
- Chaired by Defence Minister the DAC approved indigenous procurements including missile systems, electronic intelligence platforms, amphibious vessels, and long-range targeting systems, aligning with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
- The approvals include the Nag Missile System, GBMES, Landing Platform Docks, 30mm Naval Guns, Lightweight Torpedoes, and the CLRTS/DS system, enhancing combat power, mobility, and precision capabilities across all three services.
908. Cochin Shipyard delivers first indigenous anti-submarine vessel Mahe to Indian Navy
- On October 22, 2025, It was reported that, Cochin Shipyard Limited delivered Mahe, the first Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, to the Indian Navy in Kochi, marking a major step toward India’s Aatma Nirbhar Bharat defence manufacturing goal.
- The vessel was handed over by CSL Director Dr. S. Harikrishnan to Commander Amit Chandra Choubey, built indigenously under DNV standards with over 90% Indian content, showcasing how India strengthens its self-reliant defence production.
- Mahe, measuring 78 metres, features a diesel engine-waterjet propulsion system for speed and flexibility, supports surveillance, rescue, and mine-laying, and is the first of eight vessels under phased construction at CSL.
909. Indian Railways approves ₹757 crore fourth line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu
- On October 23, 2025, the Ministry of Railways approved laying a fourth line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu at a cost of ₹757.18 crore to ease congestion and enhance connectivity in southern Tamil Nadu.
- Railways Minister approved the project, which will be executed by Southern Railway under Plan Head-15 (Doubling) as part of the Energy, Mineral, and Cement Corridor to boost operational efficiency.
- The new line will handle 87-136% capacity growth, generate 1.344 million tonnes of additional freight annually, yield ₹157 crore in earnings, and benefit commuters near SIPCOT parks and the upcoming Parandur airport.
910. India builds home-grown heavy-ordnance robot
- On October 22, 2025, It was reported that, DRDO signed a Technology Transfer agreement with Sagar Defence Engineering (Pune) to manufacture UXOR robots for the Indian Air Force, enhancing India’s indigenous defence production capabilities.
- Under the pact, Sagar Defence and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) will jointly produce UXOR, designed by DRDO to neutralise 1,000 kg unexploded ordnance using remote water-jet cutting from two kilometres away.
- UXOR’s success in IAF field trials confirms operational readiness. The project opens vast opportunities for robotics, AI-control, automation, and defence supply-chain industries, aligning India’s industrial growth with national security.
