901. India overtakes China as IAF becomes third most powerful air force, check rankings of US and Pakistan
- On 16 October,2025, It was reported that, According to the World Directory of Modern Military Aircraft (WDMMA), the Indian Air Force has overtaken China to become the world’s third most powerful air force, following the US and Russia.
- The IAF’s TruVal Rating (TVR) is 69.4, reflecting a balanced fleet of fighters (31.6%), helicopters (29%), and trainers (21.8%), with advanced aircraft like Rafales, Su-30 MKIs, and Tejas, compared to China’s larger fighter-heavy composition.
- TVR measures air force strength based on aircraft quantity, capabilities, modernization, support, readiness, and fleet effectiveness. Greater weight is given to special-mission units, bombers, CAS, training, local industry, inventory balance, and operational experience.
902. Deputy Chief Minister Inaugurates Traditional Mishmi Hut And The Hostel-cum-Guest House At Mishmi Cultural Heritage Centre (MCHC), Jollang, Itanagar
- On October,16 2025 Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh inaugurated the Traditional Mishmi Hut and Hostel-cum-Guest House at the Mishmi Cultural Heritage Centre (MCHC), Jollang, Itanagar, promoting cultural preservation and social welfare in Arunachal Pradesh.
- Mein, with community leaders and Mishmi Welfare Society members, praised the Centre’s dual role as a cultural hub and support facility for students, patients, and visitors from remote areas, emphasizing education, discipline, and economic self-reliance.
- The Centre will support tourism and local economic growth via the Eastern Tourism Circuit. It highlights Mishmi heritage, encourages youth participation in schemes like Krishi Yojana, and generates employment for artisans, hoteliers, homestay owners, and entrepreneurs.

903. Assam cabinet Approves Sattra Preservation Bill, Hikes DA To 58%
- On October 16, 2025, the Assam cabinet approved the Assam Sattra Preservation and Development Commission Bill, 2025, to protect Vaishnavite heritage and ensure the preservation of Sattras and their lands in Assam.
- Chief Minister stated the commission will combine traditional reverence with modern governance, exercising quasi-judicial powers to safeguard cultural and economic interests of Sattras across the state.
- The cabinet also approved a three percent increase in Dearness Allowance and Relief from July 1, 2025, raising total DA for government employees and pensioners to 58 percent.

904. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Unveils First Tejas LCA Mk1A from HAL’s New Nashik Production Line
- On 17 October, 2025, Defence Minister unveiled the first Tejas LCA Mk1A fighter jet and inaugurated a second HTT-40 trainer aircraft production line at Hindustan Aeronautics’ Nashik facility.
- Defence Minister highlighted HAL Nashik’s role in advancing India’s defence self-reliance. The Tejas Mk1A maiden flight showcases domestic production capabilities, reducing dependence on imported defence equipment from 65–70% pre-2014 to 35% today.
- The Tejas Mk1A is a 4.5-generation multi-role fighter designed to replace MiG-21s, with enhanced combat avionics, air-to-air refuelling, and versatile weapons for air defence, ground attack, maritime strike, and reconnaissance missions.
905. India’s next-gen acoustic research ship one more step close to reality
- On October,15, 2025, GRSE laid the keel for a 93-metre advanced acoustic research ship (ARS) at its Kolkata yard, built for DRDO’s Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory to strengthen India’s naval research and self-reliance.
- The ceremony was attended by DRDO Chairman Dr Sameer V. Kamat, senior Navy and GRSE officials. The ship will serve as a state-of-the-art platform with sonar, survey, and acoustic systems for underwater research and oceanographic studies.
- The 93m × 18m ARS features diesel-electric propulsion (4–12 knots), 30-day endurance, 4,500 nautical mile range, 120-personnel capacity, dynamic positioning, and acoustic-silent design. It supports sonar calibration, noise analysis, and high-resolution underwater data collection under India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
906. Railway Minister Vaishnaw inaugurates new platforms, and integrated passenger information system in Jaipur
- On October,16,2025, Union Railway Minister inaugurated new platforms, upgrades, extensions, and an integrated passenger information system at 65 small and medium railway stations across Jaipur, Rajasthan, along with printed blanket covers for Jaipur-Asarwa Express AC passengers.
- Union Railway Minister highlighted that pilot initiatives like Sanganeri-printed blanket covers and station upgrades aim to enhance passenger experience, with improvements across Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Bikaner divisions, ensuring better safety, comfort, and accessibility at small and major stations.
- Station developments include platform height adjustments, modern signboards, and information systems. The pilot program may expand nationwide if successful. Dignitaries like Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari and Jaipur MP Manju Sharma praised the initiatives as transformative for Jaipur stations.
907. Northeast Frontier Railway achieves 90% electrification and expands network with new projects
- On 14 October,2025, NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava met MPs from Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur in Guwahati to review railway development, electrification progress, and infrastructure expansion across the Northeast Frontier Railway network.
- Shrivastava informed that 90% of NFR’s 7,362 km network is electrified, with projects like double-line sections, a new Brahmaputra bridge, AI-based safety upgrades, and Amrit Bharat Station redevelopment at 92 stations under progress.
- Aizawl is now connected to the railway network; freight services began in Nagaland. Haibargaon became the first Amrit station in Northeast India, as NFR continues to expand connectivity through challenging terrains and heritage preservation.

908. IIT Delhi, Indian Navy sign MoU for crew centred aspects of warship design
- On October,16 2025, IIT Delhi and the Indian Navy’s Directorate of Naval Architecture signed an MoU to create a research and design centre focused on improving Quality of Life (QoL) onboard Indian Naval ships.
- The MoU was signed by RAdm Arvind Rawal (Indian Navy) and IIT Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee. Researchers will study ship safety, efficiency, ergonomics, and habitability, providing design inputs and international-standard comparisons to enhance naval ship QoL.
- The collaboration aims to identify improvement areas in existing and future ships, apply crew-centric design interventions, and potentially extend findings to mercantile vessels, combining ergonomics, human factors, and design optimisation for advanced habitability.
909. DRDO-developed Military Combat Parachute System successfully tested at 32,000 ft altitud
- On October 15, 2025, DRDO successfully tested an indigenously developed Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS) at 32,000 ft, marking a milestone for India’s airborne operational capabilities.
- The test, executed by Indian Air Force jumpers, showcased MCPS’s efficiency, reliability, advanced design, enhanced tactical features, lower descent rate, superior steering, and compatibility with India’s NavIC satellite navigation system.
- MCPS can now be deployed above 25,000 ft, ensures accurate landings, reduces dependency on foreign systems, allows quicker maintenance, and represents a major step towards India’s self-reliance in indigenous aerial delivery systems.
910. Rolls-Royce expands partnership with Bharat Forge to manufacture fan blades for Pearl 10X engines
- On October 16, 2025, Rolls-Royce signed an agreement at its Dahlewitz facility near Berlin with Bharat Forge Ltd to manufacture and supply fan blades for the Pearl 700 and Pearl 10X engines, expanding their long-standing partnership.
- Rolls-Royce and Bharat Forge will collaborate to produce precision aerospace components, strengthening India’s aerospace supply chain and supporting the ‘Make in India’ vision by delivering state-of-the-art fan blades for global aviation.
- Bharat Forge, India’s first manufacturer of Pearl engine components, has supplied parts since 2020 and delivered its first zero-defect fan blade in 2024. The new contract includes Pearl 10X engines and aims to double India’s aerospace sourcing by 2030.
