891. Indian Railways approves ₹757 crore fourth line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu
- On October 23, 2025, the Ministry of Railways approved laying a fourth line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu at a cost of ₹757.18 crore to ease congestion and enhance connectivity in southern Tamil Nadu.
- Railways Minister approved the project, which will be executed by Southern Railway under Plan Head-15 (Doubling) as part of the Energy, Mineral, and Cement Corridor to boost operational efficiency.
- The new line will handle 87-136% capacity growth, generate 1.344 million tonnes of additional freight annually, yield ₹157 crore in earnings, and benefit commuters near SIPCOT parks and the upcoming Parandur airport.
892. India builds home-grown heavy-ordnance robot
- On October 22, 2025, It was reported that, DRDO signed a Technology Transfer agreement with Sagar Defence Engineering (Pune) to manufacture UXOR robots for the Indian Air Force, enhancing India’s indigenous defence production capabilities.
- Under the pact, Sagar Defence and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) will jointly produce UXOR, designed by DRDO to neutralise 1,000 kg unexploded ordnance using remote water-jet cutting from two kilometres away.
- UXOR’s success in IAF field trials confirms operational readiness. The project opens vast opportunities for robotics, AI-control, automation, and defence supply-chain industries, aligning India’s industrial growth with national security.
893. SECI, DRDO Sign MoU to Develop 300 MW Renewable Energy Projects for Defence Sector
- On October 22, 2025, It was reported that, SECI and DRDO signed an MoU at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi, to develop renewable energy projects exceeding 300 MW across DRDO establishments in India.
- The MoU, attended by senior MNRE and DRDO officials, enables SECI to Build, Own, and Operate solar projects, ensuring reliable clean power for defence units while advancing India’s self-reliance goals.
- Work has begun on a 100 MW solar project at Chitradurga, Karnataka, connected via ISTS. The initiative aligns India’s defence preparedness with its renewable energy transition strategy.

- According to industry data and Dr. Pawan Goenka, Indian automakers like Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj, and Mahindra achieved record export growth by expanding global market focus and introducing new models like the e-Vitara EV.
- Passenger vehicle exports rose 18%, two-wheelers 21%, and commercial vehicles 23%. Maruti Suzuki led car exports (2.05 lakh units), Bajaj topped bikes (8.9 lakh), and Mahindra dominated CV exports (8,860 units).

895. Diwali 2025 sales hit a record ₹6.05 trn, Indian goods see 25% rise: Cait
- On October 21, 2025, It was reported that, Diwali sales across India touched a record ₹6.05 trillion ₹5.40 trillion in goods and ₹65,000 crore in services -marking a 25% growth from last year’s ₹4.25 trillion.
- As per CAIT Secretary General and BJP MP, PM Modi’s “Vocal for Local” appeal boosted domestic sales, with 87% of consumers choosing Indian-made goods and demand for Chinese products sharply declining.
- FMCG led sales at 12%, followed by gold & jewellery (10%) and electronics (8%). Lower GST rates and high trader-consumer confidence fueled growth, generating around 5 million temporary jobs during the festive season.

896. UPI transactions surge to Rs 94,000 crore daily in Oct, set for record festive month
- On October 22, 2025, It was Reported that, UPI transactions across India rose 13% over September, reaching an average daily value of ₹94,000 crore, driven by Diwali shopping and festive digital spending.
- According to NPCI, UPI, which powers 85% of India’s digital payments, achieved this growth through strong consumer adoption and high transaction activity during the festival season.
- UPI hit a record 740 million transactions in one day and crossed ₹1 lakh crore in daily value six times, with monthly totals expected to exceed ₹28 lakh crore breaking its previous ₹25 lakh crore record.

899. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, CM Yogi Flag Off First BrahMos Missile Batch From Lucknow Unit
- Defence Minister and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh On October 18, 2025.
- Defence Minister said that country is making its mark in the defence manufacturing sector and many countries are now interested in technical association with India. He said that recently the Brahmos team has signed contact with two countries worth four thousand crore rupees.
- The Lucknow BrahMos unit is the first facility in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor where the entire process, from missile system manufacturing to final testing, is carried out indigenously. During the event, the Defence Minister and the Chief Minister inaugurated the Booster Building and witnessed a demonstration of the booster docking process.
