891. India launches MAHA-MedTech mission to boost self-reliance in Medical Technology
- On October 27, 2025, Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Gates Foundation, has launched the Mission for Advancement in High-Impact Areas (MAHA)-Medical Technology (महा MedTech).
- The Mission will provide funding support to a wide range of entities including Academic and R&D institutions, Hospitals, Startups, MSMEs, MedTech industry and collaborations between entities. With milestone-linked funding of Rs 5–25 crore per project (and up to Rs 50 crore in exceptional cases), the Mission will support projects that bring impactful MedTech solutions to market.
- The Mission will provide enabling support through national initiatives such as Patent Mitra (IP protection and technology transfer), MedTech Mitra (regulatory guidance and clearances), a Clinical Trial Network (for clinical validation and evidence generation), as well as mentorship from industry experts.
892. Maritime sector drives India's economic surge as 95% of trade moves through sea routes
- On October,26,2025 it was reported that, In FY 2024-25, India’s maritime trade through major ports handled 855 million tonnes of cargo nationwide under the Maritime India Vision 2030, aiming to modernise port infrastructure and enhance logistics efficiency across coastal and inland routes.
- The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways is driving reforms through MIV 2030, Sagarmala, and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 by investing ₹3-80 lakh crore to expand port capacity, promote green shipping, and strengthen inland waterways.
- Port capacity rose from 1,400 to 2,762 MMT; vessel turnaround time improved from 93 to 48 hours; inland cargo transport increased 700% to 146 MT; and India’s seafarer workforce doubled to 3 lakh, forming 12% of the global total.

893. India’s exports to China rose by 22% in FY25, says govt
- On October 26, 2025 according to the government data it was reported that, In April-September 2025, India’s exports to China surged 22% to $8.41 billion compared to H1 FY25, highlighting growing trade with China following US tariff impositions on Indian goods.
- Indian exporters shifted shipments of products such as shrimps, aluminium, and parts of telephone sets to China. New exports like OLED flat panel display modules also contributed, demonstrating adaptability and supply-chain realignment.
- Key gains include light oils/petroleum products (+116%), telephone parts (+162%), shrimps (+25%), sulphur (+175%), aluminium (+59%), and OLED modules (from $0 to $246.26 million). Experts note this shows growing export resilience, though broader diversification remains a work in progress.

894. Strengthening healthcare is key to building a healthy and developed India: President Murmu
- On October 26, 2025, President of India inaugurated Yashoda Medicity in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and services in the region.
- President emphasized the role of both government and private healthcare institutions in nation-building, praising Yashoda Hospital’s contribution during COVID-19 and urging participation in national health campaigns.
- The President highlighted initiatives like the National TB Elimination Programme, cancer research collaborations, and sickle cell eradication. Yashoda Medicity aims to provide affordable, world-class healthcare, reflecting social responsibility alongside medical care.
895. Odisha approves multi-crore 'B-MAAN' scheme to boost aviation sector
- On October 25, 2025, the Odisha Cabinet, chaired by CM , approved the ₹14,182-crore B-MAAN scheme to develop aviation infrastructure and connectivity across the state.
- The programme, Building and Management of Aviation Assets and Network (B-MAAN), was announced by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja to integrate aviation development through infrastructure, skill-building, and emerging technology promotion.
- The scheme includes air cargo enhancement, MRO ecosystem, innovation in drones, seaplanes, e-VTOL aircraft, aerospace manufacturing, and institutional strengthening, aiming to position Odisha as a leading aviation hub in eastern India.

896. ICG launches two indigenously-built Fast Patrol Vessels ‘Ajit’ and ‘Aparajit’
- On October 24,2025, at Goa Shipyard Limited, the Indian Coast Guard launched two advanced Fast Patrol Vessels, ICGS Ajit and ICGS Aparajit, the seventh and eighth in a series of eight indigenous FPVs.
- The vessels, designed and built by GSL, were launched by Smt. Manju Sharma in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Mayank Sharma, Financial Advisor (Defence Services), and senior ICG and GSL officials.
- Each 52-metre, 320-tonne FPV features Controllable Pitch Propellers for superior manoeuvrability and is equipped for coastal patrol, anti-smuggling, and rescue missions, reinforcing India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision in defence manufacturing.
897. Kerala receives Rs 300 cr from Central Govt. for Industrial Smart City Project
- On October 25, 2025 in Thiruvananthapuram, the Centre sanctioned ₹300.2 crore as the third instalment for the Palakkad Industrial Smart City Project, a key part of the Kochi- Bengaluru Industrial Corridor.
- Implemented by the Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (KICDC)—a joint venture between KINFRA and NICDIT-the project is advancing after a review meeting in Kochi and a contract awarded to the Dilip Buildcon-PSP JV.
- So far, ₹613.7 crore and 646 acres have been provided, covering 45% of requirements. Kerala is the first among 12 proposed Smart Cities to finish tendering, with total land acquisition of 1,450 acres costing ₹1,489 crore.
898. HUDCO inks pact with JNPA to collaborate for port infrastructure projects worth ₹5,000 cr
- On October 24, 2025 in New Delhi, HUDCO signed an initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) to develop and finance port infrastructure projects worth ₹5,000 crore.
- The MoU was signed by HUDCO CMD Sanjay Kulshrestha and JNPA Chairman Unmesh Sharad Wagh to explore collaboration in infrastructure development, financing, and refinancing at JN Port.
- HUDCO, known for financing housing and urban infrastructure, aims through this pact to strengthen port-related infrastructure under a non-binding framework, enhancing India’s maritime and logistics capacity.
899. Assam CM Lays Foundation For Rs 1,000 Crore Development Projects In Silchar
- On October 24,2025, during his two-day Barak Valley visit, Assam CM laid the foundation stone for projects worth ₹1,000 crore in Silchar, including a 208-bedded Super Speciality Hospital at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
- Developed under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the ₹300-crore hospital will house six advanced departments, 20 beds each, ICUs, emergency and dialysis units, aiming for completion within 30 months.
- CM announced ₹150 crore for rebuilding Silchar Civil Hospital, a new 500-bed SMCH block by year-end, and PM Modi’s upcoming ₹35,000-crore highway project linking Barak Valley with Guwahati. Several ministers, MPs, and officials attended the event.

900. Nagaland Launches ‘Safer Nagaland’ App For Weather Alerts
- On October 24, at the NSDMA Conference Hall, Kohima, Advisor Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe launched the “Safer Nagaland” mobile app to provide real-time weather updates and disaster alerts across Nagaland.
- Developed by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and NRE, the app uses digital technology to deliver location-based forecasts and early warning alerts directly to citizens’ smartphones.
- The app extends NSDMA’s Weather Portal, offering integrated monitoring and future upgrades like lightning and earthquake alerts, aiming to improve disaster preparedness and public safety across both urban and rural Nagaland.
