301. India sets Guinness record for longest highway paved in 24 hours
- On January 6, 2026, India set a Guinness World Record by paving 28.95 lane-kilometres of bituminous concrete in 24 hours on the Vanavolu–Vankarakunta stretch of National Highway 544G in Andhra Pradesh.
- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) with Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd. used advanced machinery (70 tippers, 5 hot mix plants, 1 paver, 17 rollers) and strict quality monitoring to achieve the record.
- The feat also set a record for 10,675 tonnes of material laid in 24 hours, observed by Guinness standards and supported by quality oversight from IIT Bombay and OEM partners.

302. Delhi health minister launches Liver Gyan helpline, NAFLD screening plan
- On January 14, 2025, the Health Minister of Delhi inaugurated a series of major public health initiatives aimed at strengthening liver disease prevention, public awareness, and patient education on the occasion of the 16th Foundation Day of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS).
- The helpline offers toll-free guidance (1800115354) on liver health, and the awareness plan aims to educate the public and improve early detection of liver diseases.
- A new hepatology handbook was also released to help patients understand common diagnostics and treatments.
303. CM Gupta Inaugurates 81 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs In Delhi On Makar Sankranti
- On January 14, 2026 on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Delhi Chief of Delhi inaugurated 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the national capital to expand primary healthcare services.
- The Delhi government, implemented the expansion by establishing neighbourhood-level Ayushman Arogya Mandirs functioning as primary health centres to reduce pressure on major hospitals and provide accessible care.
- With 81 additions, total centres rose to 319 from 238, targeting 1,100 mandirs citywide; services include free consultations, medicines, diagnostics, screenings, preventive care, yoga, and mental health support, alongside expanded Ayushman Bharat coverage and 189 empanelled hospitals.
304. Thomas Cook India signs MOU with Gujarat Tourism
- On January 14,2026,During the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2026 at Marwadi University in Rajkot, Thomas Cook (India) Limited and the Government of Gujarat signed an MoU to promote Gujarat as a key domestic tourism destination.
- The MoU was signed by Gujarat’s Tourism Department and Thomas Cook India, which will use its pan-India omnichannel distribution, consumer insights, marketing strength and training programmes to support destination promotion and tourism development.
- The partnership focuses on heritage, culture, spirituality, wildlife, nature, experiential travel, and leisure, MICE and BLeisure segments, with state support for approvals, aiming to increase domestic visitation and strengthen Gujarat’s tourism growth.

305. CM Majhi launches projects worth Rs 1,900 crore in Keonjhar district
- On January 13,2026 in Keonjhar district of Odisha, Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 71 development projects with a total investment exceeding ₹1,900 crore.
- The projects were launched by Chief Minister through inaugurations and foundation stone ceremonies at Dharanidhar University, with implementation led by the state government across multiple sectors and blocks of Keonjhar.
- Projects included ₹1,708 crore worth of new works, ₹194 crore inaugurated projects, model Anganwadi centres, stadiums, a plant resource centre, road expansion plans, SHG support, and initiatives aimed at making Keonjhar a steel hub and contributing to Viksit Odisha and Viksit India goals.
306. NHAI launches pilot project for real-time stray cattle safety alert on National Highways
- On January 14, 2026, NHAI launched a pilot project on the Jaipur–Agra and Jaipur–Rewari National Highway corridors to provide real-time stray cattle safety alerts and reduce accidents caused by sudden cattle movement.
- NHAI, in partnership with Reliance Jio under a recently signed MoU, is delivering location-based alerts through upgraded telecom infrastructure, issuing Flash SMS and voice warnings about 10 km before cattle-prone highway stretches.
- Alerts are based on mapped high-risk zones using accident data and field inputs, sent in Hindi with safeguards against alert fatigue, and may be expanded nationwide after evaluating the pilot’s effectiveness to enhance highway safety and user experience.

307. NLC India inks ₹25,000 crore MoU with Govt of Gujarat to develop large-scale renewable energy projects
- On January 12, 2026, in Rajkot, NLC India Limited and the Government of Gujarat signed an MoU to develop large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hybrid and battery storage, across Gujarat.
- NLC India Limited, through its subsidiary NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), will implement the projects, while the Gujarat government will facilitate statutory approvals, clearances and registrations under existing state policies.
- The ₹25,000 crore non-binding MoU aims to generate employment, support Gujarat as a renewable energy hub, help NLCIL achieve 10 GW renewable capacity by 2030, and contribute to India’s non-fossil power and net-zero targets.
308. Sikkim Governor Inaugurates Dialysis Unit At Jorethang CHC
- On January 14, 2026, Sikkim Governor inaugurated a newly established Dialysis Unit at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jorethang, expanding critical healthcare infrastructure in the state.

310. IIT Jodhpur Developed Low-Cost Clay Photocatalyst for Clean Water
- IIT Jodhpur has come up with a low-cost and environment friendly solution for treating contaminated water. Team of Rakesh Kumar Sharma of IIT Jodhpur has recently developed Rajasthani clay-based photocatalytic water purification technology.
- In India, underground water is a major source for drinking and agricultural purpose. These water supplies are often polluted with harmful substances such as dyes, fluoride rich chemicals and other industrial discharges.
- Describing the technology, when photo catalysts are exposed to sun light, reactive oxygen is formed which destroys the contaminants. The technology can be used to treat textile contaminated water, a major problem in western Rajasthan, under sunlight using Rajasthani clay which can purify polluted water quick and make it safe at very low cost.
- Currently, IIT Jodhpur is aiming to prepare a prototype to provide technical solution for water purification to rural and remote communities, using mobile van equipped with photocatalytic water purification systems and also considering the licensing of this technology to businesses.
