2511. PLI boost: India exporting high-end electronics now, says Ashwini Vaishnaw
- On 28 February,2025, India is making significant strides in the electronics sector as the country begins exporting high-end electronic components to global manufacturing hubs, Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and IT, said .
- The PLI 2.0 scheme and Make in India initiative have encouraged domestic production and reduced dependency on imports, allowing Indian manufacturers to compete on the global stage.
- Last month, the government said that the PLI 2.0 scheme for IT hardware has generated Rs 10,000 crore in production and created 3,900 jobs within just 18 months of its launch.

2512. French defence major Safran expands its footprint in India with second office in New Delhi
- On 4 February,2025, France's leading Defence and Aerospace conglomerate, Safran, celebrated the inauguration of its new office, Worldmark 2, in Aerocity in the national capital.
- The company has been a key partner in India's aerospace ecosystem for close to seven decades, and is deeply committed to supporting the 'Make in India' initiative.
- By increasing its footprint in the country, Safran aims to enhance technology transfer, increase local industrial capabilities, and further strengthen its collaboration with Indian companies.
2513. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tests a truly made-in-India laptop with international standards
- On 26 February,2025, Union minister for railways, information and broadcasting, and electronics and information technology, shared a video of him testing a completely made-in-India laptop by a company called VVDN Technologies.
- Puneet Agarwal, CEO of VVDN Technologies, in the video shared by the IT minister, says, “Hardware, motherboard, mechanicals, body or chassis, and software are made in India and are on par with international standards.”
- The specifications of one such laptop include a 14-inch display, an Intel Celeron processor, up to 256GB of SATA SSD storage, and up to 8GB of RAM, running on Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 operating system.

2514. J&K achieves 99.80% digital banking coverage
- On March 16, 2025, official data revealed that Jammu and Kashmir has achieved 99.80% digital coverage of all eligible savings and business accounts, marking a major milestone in financial inclusion and digital transformation.
- Key Figures & Achievements: 1.28 crore accounts have been successfully onboarded to digital banking platforms across all 20 districts of the Union Territory. As of January 31, 2025, only 25,472 accounts remain to be digitally enabled. J&K Bank and State Bank of India (SBI) have achieved 100% digital coverage in both savings and business accounts.
- Growth in Digital Transactions: J&K Bank's Digital Transactions (2024-25, up to December): 138.90 crore total transactions 99.80% digital transactions 70% through UPI platforms
- The data highlights J&K’s rapid adoption of digital banking, significantly improving financial inclusion and ease of transactions. The UPI platform's growing dominance suggests a strong shift towards a cashless economy in the region. With nearly complete digital banking penetration, J&K is on track to become one of the most financially digitized regions in India.
2515. New policies attract investors to J&K, receive investment proposals worth ₹1.69 lakh crore
- On March 17, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir government announced the receipt of ₹1.69 lakh crore in investment proposals, expected to generate 6,06,203 jobs. These proposals require 80,668.91 kanals (10,083.6 acres) of land by March 2025.
- Key Developments in Industrial Land Allotment: 6,816.25 kanals (852.25 acres) allotted to 213 non-local investors under the J&K Industrial Policy (2016-26) and Industrial Land Allotment Policy (2021-30). Jammu received the majority of this land with 6,408.25 kanals (801.25 acres), while Kashmir received 408 kanals (51 acres). Investors come from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh.
- Investment & Job Growth Over Recent Years: In 2023-24, investments worth ₹3,389 crore created 1,46,317 new jobs (57% increase from the previous year). In 2024-25, 381 new units started operations, generating ₹3,887 crore and 10,715 jobs. Over the last five years, 2,031 industrial units have become operational, attracting ₹10,516 crore in investment and creating 65,982 jobs.
2516. Central Government Approves Expansion of Badlapur-Karjat Railway Tracks to Boost Infrastructure and Connectivity
- On 17 march 2025, It was reported that, the Central Government has approved the expansion of the third and fourth railway tracks on the Badlapur-Karjat route. This decision was made during the 89th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) under the ambitious 'PM Gati Shakti' initiative.
- The 32.460 km brownfield project aims to decongest the Mumbai-Pune-Solapur-Wadi-Chennai corridor by addressing delays caused by rising passenger and freight traffic.
- The project will also enhance connectivity for key stations such as Badlapur, Vangani, Shelu, Neral, Bhivpuri, and Karjat, benefiting thousands of daily commuters and freight transporters.
2517. India's smartphone exports surge 54 pc to surpass Rs 1.75 lakh crore in April-Feb
- On 17 march, 2025, It was reported that smartphone exports crossed a staggering Rs 1.75 lakh crore (USD 21 billion) in 11 months of FY2024-25 (April-February) which constitutes a 54 per cent jump over the corresponding figure for the same period of FY2023-24, according to latest industry data.
- India's electronics goods exports, led by smartphones, have been accelerating in recent years on the back of government's production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme which has succeeded in attracting foreign tech giants such as Apple and its suppliers.
- Driven by the PLI scheme, the production of mobile phones has increased from about 60 million mobile phones in 2014-15 to about 330 million mobile phones in 2023-24.

2518. Shri Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates Butibori and Hingna Facilities in Nagpur
- March 17, 2025 Two fully operational service and supply hubs were launched at Butibori and Hingna in Nagpur. These facilities focus on repair, rebuild, and parts distribution, supporting industries like mining, construction, energy, and transportation. inaugurated by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India.
- The expansion aims to enhance service response times, reduce repair turnaround, improve parts availability, and lower total ownership costs for customers across India.
- The 14-acre facilities feature advanced Machine Rebuild Centers (MRC) and Component Rebuild Centers (CRC) with a high-efficiency warehouse, digitalized inventory management, and NABL-accredited testing labs. They can process 30,000+ parts, rebuild 150 machines, overhaul 750 engines annually, and employ over 250 skilled personnel.
