2431. Tata Power Renewables signs MOU worth $5.6 Bn with Andhra Pradesh govertment
- On 8 march 2025 Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a unit of Tata Power Co. signed an initial agreement to develop renewable projects worth as much as Rs 49000 crore ($5.6 billion) in Andhra Pradesh.
- TPREL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to collaborate and explore opportunities to build up to 7,000 MW including solar, wind and hybrid projects with or without storage solutions.
- The partnership aligns with the State’s vision to enhance its renewable energy portfolio and accelerate the transition towards a sustainable and green energy future and landmark clean energy framework that that aims for State to develop over 160 GW of renewable energy with an investment potential of Rs 10 lakh crore.
2432. India signs $248 million deal with Russia to upgrade T-72 tank engines
- On 8 march 2025 The Ministry of Defence signed a USD248 million contract with Russian defence firm Rosoboronexport (RoE) to procure 1,000-horsepower (HP) engines for T-72 battle tanks in fully-assembled, completely knocked-down, and semi-knocked-down condition .
- The deal includes the Transfer of Technology (ToT) from the Russian defence manufacturer to Chennai-based Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (Heavy Vehicle Factory), for integration and subsequent licenced production of engines under ToT to boost the 'Make in India' initiative in the defence sector
- The T-72 is the mainstay of the tank fleet of the Indian Army which is at present fitted with a 780 HP Engine. Equipping the existing fleet of T-72 Tanks with 1000 HP engines will enhance the battlefield mobility and offensive capability of the Indian Army.
2433. ISRO successfully tests semi-cryogenic engine
- On 8 March 2025 The Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully conducted a hot test on the semi-cryogenic engine (SE2000), marking a major milestone in developing powerful engines for future space missions.
- The test called the Power Head Test Article (PHTA), is an important step toward finalizing the cryogenic stage that powers the booster stages of launch vehicles.
- Rockets need powerful propulsion systems to lift off from Earth, pass through the atmosphere, and reach space. Choosing the right propellant system is crucial for efficiency, cost, and reusability.

2434. In A First, ISRO Captures Solar Flare 'Kernel' Through Aditya-L1 SUIT
- On 6 march 2025 Indian space agency ISRO has revealed that its amazing Aditya-L1 spacecraft, which is now fully operational, has snapped a solar flare 'kernel' and thereby scripted history for the country.
- Aditya-L1 mission is set to revolutionize humanity's understanding of the Sun and its influence on Earth, especially impact of space weather.
- The initial findings from Aditya-L1 instruments could well put India in a leading role to uncover the Sun’s deepest secrets. It may herald the beginning of what could be a new era in solar physics.
- Aditya-L1 has made a ground-breaking observation by capturing the first-ever image of a solar flare ‘kernel’ in the lower solar atmosphere, namely the photosphere and the chromosphere.

2435. Isro begins the construction of second spaceport for SSLV launches
- On 7 March 2025 India's space ambitions have taken a significant leap forward with the commencement of construction for the country's second spaceport at Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil Nadu.
- This spaceport is specifically designed to support the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) missions, aiming to capture a substantial share of the global market for launching small satellites weighing up to 500 kg.
- The initiative shows India's commitment to expanding its space infrastructure and enhancing its capabilities in the global satellite launch market.
2436. DRDO reveals India's latest hypersonic weapon
- On 6th march 2025 There's one more addition to India's growing arsenal of deadly missiles.
- The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has revealed a mock-up and details of the country's latest short-range ballistic missile called BM-04 which is likely to have hypersonic speed.
- The missile will be used to neutralise enemy anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) capabilities and ensure that the Indian defence forces do not face any operational restrictions in a highly contested battlefield.
- The armed with a 500 kilogramme conventional warhead and use the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System as well as the GPS to home in to the designated target
2437. 10 skill development centres to come up in Assam with Rs 90 crore investment
- On March 4, 2025, Assam Chief Minister announced the establishment of 10 state-of-the-art skill development centres across Assam in collaboration with the Pan IIT Alumni Association.
- The total project cost is ₹90 crore, with: ₹10 crore contributed by the Assam State Government. ₹80 crore funded by the Pan IIT Alumni Association. These centres aim to enhance employability by providing comprehensive skill development training.
- The centres will train students across various sectors, bridging the skill gap in the region. Pan IIT Alumni Association has committed to ensuring job placements for all graduates from the program.

2438. Sikkim CM lays foundation for Rs 197 crore projects, including bus terminus in Siliguri
- On March 5, 2025, Sikkim Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure projects worth ₹197 crore at the SNT complex in Siliguri.
- The development includes: A healthcare center with 50 rooms and kitchen facilities. A guest house for transit stays. A renovated bus terminus with automatic bus parking and taxi stands. A shopping complex. Centralized Sikkim government offices in Siliguri.
- The entire project will be completed within 24 months. CM Tamang confirmed coordination with the West Bengal government and the Siliguri Municipal Corporation for approvals. Encroachment issues surrounding the land have been resolved.

2439. Badarpur–Agartala Railway Track Fully Electrified
- On March 21, 2025, the Union Minister of Railways confirmed in Lok Sabha that the Badarpur (Assam)–Agartala railway section has been fully electrified.
- Tripura achieved broad gauge connectivity with the rest of India following the Lumding – Silchar – Badarpur – Agartala gauge conversion project in 2016. Agartala is directly connected to Delhi via two pairs of trains and has links to Guwahati through seven pairs of regular trains. Passengers from Guwahati can access seven pairs of trains to Delhi.
- The Guwahati – Badarpur – Agartala route is undergoing electrification. The Badarpur – Agartala section is now fully electrified, while the Guwahati – Badarpur section is progressing rapidly. Full electrification will allow for additional train services, improved efficiency, and better passenger travel experiences

2440. Over 9,300 km of National Highways Developed in Northeast at ₹1.51 Lakh Crore
- On March 21, 2025, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways announced in Lok Sabha that the government has developed 9,337 km of National Highways (NHs) in the Northeast region over the past five years, with an investment of ₹1.51 lakh crore.
- A total of 468 NH development projects have been undertaken in the Northeast states. 232 projects have been completed, while 236 are set for completion by 2028. 16 National Highways connect border areas of the Northeast to China, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
- Projects are aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) to ensure seamless connectivity. Border infrastructure is being strengthened to support trade, tourism, and security.
