23991. Contract awarded for Haldia inland waterway terminal; Jetty to be operational soon: Shipping Minister
- Haldia Inland Waterway Terminal: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal announced that the contract for the Haldia inland waterway terminal has been awarded.
- soon, the jetty will be functional for sending exim and inland cargo to Pandu terminal, located in Guwahati, Assam, connecting the northeast region with Kolkata via National waterway
- this will provide an alternative to the chicken neck route for easy and cost effective cargo movement to and from the country’s northeast region to other states of India as well as other foreign countries.
23992. December exports grow all-time high, no immediate supply disruptions seen: Piyush Goyal
- India’s goods exports in December surged 37% on-year to $37.29 billion, the highest-ever monthly figure, data released by the commerce and industry ministry
- Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said that India's merchandise exports will be above $400 billion this fiscal as outbound shipments during April-December crossed $300 billion, exceeding the exports of 2020-21
- India’s merchandise export in April-December was $299.74 billion, an increase of 48.85% on-year from $201.37 billion in the year ago period and an increase of 25.8% over $238.27 billion in April-December 2019.

23993. Olectra bags 100 EV buses order from APSRTC
- 100 Zero Emission Electric Buses of 'Make in India' to ply Tirupathi - Tirumala Ghat, and Intercity under FAME - II. Olectra is the first company to deploy electric buses in Andhra Pradesh. Nellore, Kadapa, Madanapalle citizens also can now travel in these Zero Emission, noiseless buses.
- Established in 2000, Olectra Greentech Limited (a public listed company) – part of the MEIL Group, pioneered the introduction of electric buses in India in 2015. It is also the largest manufacturer in India for Silicone Rubber/Composite Insulators for power transmission and distribution networks.
- The order is to supply 100 E-buses under the FAME-II scheme of the Government of India. This 100 E-buses will be supplied on a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) /OPEX model basis for 12 years. The Value of this contract is approximately Rs.140 crores.
23994. Hyderabad-based Resolute gets PLI nod for telecom, LED lighting
- The Resolute Group of Companies has become the first electronics company in Telangana to have received PLI (production-linked incentive) approval for both telecom and LED lighting from the Central government.
- The Hyderabad-based company intends to make investments and start manufacturing telecom equipment, including networking products, 4G, 5G telecommunication equipment, and fibre optic telecommunication equipment. The company will scale up volumes in addition to ensuring quality.
- A total 52 companies filed their application with committed investment of Rs 5,858 crore under the PLI scheme. After evaluation of all the applications, 42 applicants with committed investment of Rs 4,614 crore have been provisionally selected as beneficiaries under the PLI scheme.

- The launch of the three earth observation satellites - EOS-02, EOS-04, and EOS-06 have been delayed for several months now. All big-ticket scientific missions, including India’s first solar mission Aditya-L1, which were to take place in 2021 were pushed when the launch schedule was revised after the second wave of the pandemic.
23997. After Mom’s Cancer Scare, AIIMS Doc Treats 1000 Underprivileged Patients for Free
- Dr Sunil Kumar, an oncologist at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), started Chandrakanti Devi Cancer Foundation in Bihar to help patients diagnose cancer at early stages and seek much-needed treatment
- Dr Sunil travels 1,000 km each month from Dehri to help the underprivileged, and diagnose them, hoping to catch their diseases at an early stage. He works as an additional professor at surgical oncology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi.

23998. Covid-19 vaccination reaches 145.44 crore doses in India
- over 145.44 crore doses of COVID vaccines have been administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive.
- More than 25 lakh 75 thousand Covid vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
- National recovery rate stands at 98.27 per cent. The country has reported over 27 thousand new Covid cases in the last 24 hours.
23999. Inside D2C grocery delivery startup Fraazo’s plans for geographical expansion
- Atul Kumar, CEO and Co-founder, Fraazo, said the startup will utilise the funds for geographical expansion across cities.
- The startup aims to expand its presence in 15 Tier I and metro cities in the next 12-18 months. It will also use the capital raised for product development and the strengthening of supply chains. In terms of categorical expansion, the startup plans to add more categories to its basket.
- In the next 12-18 months, Fraazo is targeting a 20x growth. It aims to achieve almost 10 million orders a month as well. The startup is growing by almost 50 percent monthly and is on track to achieve its ambitious growth targets.
