- 1. पुराने घाव से परेशान मरीजों के लिए एक राहत भरी खबर है। समुद्री शैवाल (Sea Algae) ‘अगर’ से प्राप्त एक नेचुरल पॉलीमर से घाव पर मरहम-पट्टी (ड्रेसिंग) की नई तकनीक विकसित की गई है।
- 2. यह विशेषकर मधुमेह रोगियों के लिए काफी उपयोगी साबित हो सकती है, जिनके घाव भरने में काफी समय लगता है।
- 3. भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, कानपुर के डॉ विवेक वर्मा ने आयोडीन और साइट्रिक एसिड जैसे कई कनेक्टिव मॉलिक्यूल को जोड़कर इसे विकसित किया है।
- 4. इसे ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ पहल के साथ जोड़ दिया गया है और राष्ट्रीय पेटेंट भी मिल चुका है। चूहे के इन-विट्रो और इन-वीवो मॉडल पर परीक्षण किए जाने के बाद ही इसे मान्यता दी गई है।

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme or the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) via video conferencing by handing over deposit-free LPG cylinder connections to beneficiaries from Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba at 12:30pm. He also interact with the beneficiaries of the scheme.
- “Ujjwala has ensured a life of dignity to our citizens, especially women. In August 2019, the target of eight crore connections was completed seven months before the decided time frame,” PM Modi tweeted on 9th August.
- During Ujjwala 1.0 launched in 2016, a target was set to provide LPG connections to 5 crore women of BPL households. Subsequently, the scheme was expanded to include women beneficiaries from seven more categories. In the Union Budget for financial year 2021-22, provision for an additional one crore LPG connections under the scheme was announced.
- Ujjwala 2.0 will help achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of universal access to LPG.

- Vedanta acquired the inoperative Bellary Steel in Karnataka through competitive bidding in 2011 and Electrosteel Steels (ESL) via the insolvency route in 2018.
- The company’s iron and steel vertical includes steel operations, iron ore mines in Goa, Karnataka and Odisha, apart from a ferro-alloys producing unit; a nickel, cobalt and cement unit; and a pig iron, metallurgical coke & port business.
- Currently, it has around 1.5 million tonne per annum capacity at ESL and are working to take it to 3 mtpa with around Rs 4,000-crore investment. The expansion will be through the brownfield route. We are getting the requisite clearances and I believe in the next 9-10 months, this entire capacity addition will take place. The blueprint is also ready for taking the capacity further to 5 mtpa. It will require another Rs 8,000-9,000 crore.

- As part of its efforts to expand and upgrade its infrastructure in a big way, Central Railway has completed rail electrification work on 173-km route for the financial year 2021-22.
- Railways had set a target of electrification of 418-km route for FY 2021-22. Work on remaining 245-km stretch is expected to be completed by March 2022. In addition, electrification of the 52-km Ausa Road-Latur Road route is also expected to be completed by June 2022.
- Electrification offers several advantages such as environmental-friendly mode of transport, reduced dependence on imported diesel fuel, haulage of heavier freight trains and longer passenger trains with high haulage capacity of Electric Locomotives leading to increased throughput, and increased sectional capacity by eliminating detention on account of traction change.

- Mechanical engineer Dhananjay Hegde from Karnataka has conceived a bag made from newspaper that uses unique stitching techniques and corn powder and can carry damp items and other things weighing up to 10 kilos
- He researched for environment-friendly and natural materials and found that corn resin or gum could act as a layer to waterproof the paper bags.
- The gum prevented the water from coming in contact with the paper and held liquids without allowing any penetration in the layer.

- कैच द रेन: जैसलमेर में इस वर्ष पानी का घोर संकट है। पाकिस्तान की सीमा के करीब बसे एक गांव के पक्के घरों में बारिश के पानी को जमा करने के लिए टांके बनाए गए थे, यहां बारिश न बराबर हुई थी, लेकिन जो हुई उसको संजो लिया गया है
- पाकिस्तान की सीमा से महज 60 किमी दूर सम पंचायत समिति में रामगढ़ पंचायत के बंजारों की ढाणी में 11 बंजारे परिवारों के घरों में बारिश के पानी को जमा करने के लिए टांकों (water tank) का निर्माण किया गया है।
- एक टांके का क्षेत्रफल 1200-1300 वर्ग फीट है, जिसमें 5-6 लोगों के परिवार के लिए सालभर का पानी सुरक्षित हो सकता है लेकिन ये बारिश पर निर्भर करता है कि किस साल कितनी बारिश हुई।
- एक टांके (टंकी) की लागत करीब 84,500 रुपए है। इसमें 25 फीसदी लागत लाभार्थी परिवारों ने वहन की है। इसी साल मार्च में प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने 'जल शक्ति अभियानः कैच द रेन' अभियान की शुरूआत की थी।

- The startup has tied up with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to develop technology for a number of unmanned systems.
- NewSpace, a Bengaluru-based startup, was founded by an Indian Air Force veteran. The contract for swarm drones was awarded to the company after it outperformed other contenders in evaluation trials conducted by the Army last year in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar.
- The Army will use the drones to develop concepts for swarm operations and explore manned unmanned teaming.
