- Irrespective of the global slowdown and the COVID-19 pandemic, FDI into India recorded a significant jump, according to Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Guruprasad Mohapatra.
- With relaxed FDI norms, defence production will be among the areas that will be looked at for fresh overseas investments in the months ahead while easing compliance burden of businesses will be a priority area.

- The Nepal government has decided to award the contract for construction of 679 MW lower Arun Hydro Project to India's Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN). A meeting of Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) on Friday made the decision to award the contract to an Indian company under BOOT model (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer), according to IBN release.
- Proposed project has a projected capacity of 679 MW of electricity and will be situated in Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur districts of Province 1. Earlier, a Chinese state-owned company, Power China, had expressed interest to construct hydropower project. As per the agreement on Arun III, apart from shares being allocated to the locals and free energy to the affected areas, the government will get ₹330 billion as royalty over a period of 20 years and the project will also provide 21.9 per cent of the generated energy free of cost to Nepal.
- The project cost for Lower Arun is estimated at over ₹100 billion. As per an initial study, the installed capacity of the project can be enhanced to around 1,000 MW if it is developed as a storage-type project.
