1621. India’s first carbon fibre foot prosthesis unveiled at AIIMS in Telangana
- On 14 July, 2025, Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) and AIIMS, Bibinagar have developed the country’s first “Make in India” cost-effective high-performance carbon fibre foot prosthesis.
- Under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative, AIIMS Bibinagar (PMSSY, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI) in collaboration with DRDL, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, jointly developed the ADIDOC (AIIMS Bibinagar - DRDL, DRDO Indigenously Developed Optimised Carbon Foot Prosthesis).
- The foot comes in three variants for different weight categories and aims to provide a high-quality, low-cost alternative to costly imports. With performance matching international models, it is expected to reduce production costs to around ₹20,000, compared to ₹2 lakh for similar imported products.
1622. Yakten Becomes India’s First Digital Nomad Village In Sikkim
- On 14 July, 2025, Yakten village in Sikkim’s Pakyong district has been officially inaugurated as India’s first Digital Nomad Village under the initiative ‘Nomad Sikkim’.
- Developed as a joint initiative by the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong, and Sarvahitey NGO, the project aims to create a sustainable and community-driven remote work destination.The village is equipped with high-speed internet connectivity and eco-friendly infrastructure to cater to professionals seeking a peaceful environment for remote work.
- The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including District Collector Rohan Agawane, ADC (HQ) GL Meena, ADC (Dev) Robin Pd. Sewa, Deputy Director of Tourism Sushma Pradhan, BDO Pakyong Sangay Tamang, Sarvahitey Founder and Project Head Prem Prakash, and other departmental officials and organisation representatives.

1623. India achieves 50% non-fossil fuel power generation capacity 5 years ahead of 2030 target
- On 14 July, 2025. Union New & Renewable Energy Minister announced that India has achieved 50% non-fossil fuel-based power generation capacity—242.8 GW out of a total installed capacity of 484.8 GW—five years ahead of its 2030 target.
- India has set an ambitious target of having 500 GW of renewable energy-based electricity generation by 2030.
- India's total installed power capacity now stands at 484.8 GW, with 242.8 GW coming from non-fossil fuel sources -- a powerful testament to our green progress.
1624. Jammu and Kashmir Achieves Full Digital Health Facility Registration, Links Over 20 Lakh Health Records to ABHA
- On July 14, 2025, it was reported that Jammu and Kashmir achieved 100% registration of public health facilities under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), linking over 20.58 lakh health records to Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs, making it a national leader in digital healthcare.
- The Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) disbursed Rs 4.57 crore to 55 facilities, with Government Medical Colleges in Kathua, Rajouri, and District Hospital Pulwama recognized as model ABDM facilities, though Rs 3.02 crore in payouts remain pending due to delayed Utilisation Certificates
- Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, in a review meeting, praised the integration of the JK e-Sahaj Health Management Information System (HMIS) with ABDM, enabling 11.61 lakh citizens to access digital medical records, with 71 lakh OPD tokens issued via Scan & Share QR codes in 102 hospitals.

1625. India’s First Waste Plastic Road Pilot Launched by BPCL, CRRI & NHAI: A CSR Milestone in Sustainable Infrastructure
- On 14 July 2025, It was reported that, Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), in partnership with CRRI and NHAI, has launched India’s first field trial of Geocell technology on the DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway. This eco-friendly initiative promotes plastic waste reuse and highlights BPCL’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure under its CSR efforts.
- The launch was attended by key dignitaries including Dr. Kalaiselvi (DG, CSIR), Shri Chandrasekhar N (Head R&D, BPCL), and Dr. Manoranjan Parida (Director, CRRI), along with senior officials from BPCL and NHAI, reflecting strong institutional collaboration behind this sustainable innovation.

1626. Union Minister Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways inaugurates Sigandur bridge in Karnataka
- Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways dedicated the cable-stayed bridge constructed across Sharavati river backwaters in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district in Karnataka On July 14, 2025.
- The bridge and the approach roads have been constructed at a cost of over ₹473 crore, by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
- The bridge is the culmination of a long-time aspiration of people residing in villages of Karuru and Barangi hoblis in Sagar taluk. The villagers, in a celebration mood, decorated the bridge with mango leaves.

1627. Assam CM Himanta Inaugurates India’s First Aqua Tech Park To Boost Fish Farming And Empower Farmers
- Assam CM On 12 July, 2025, inaugurated the state’s first Aqua Tech Park at Sonapur near Guwahati.
- Speaking on the occasion, CM said that the Aqua Tech Park will aim at empowering fish farmers with knowledge of cutting-edge technologies that will enhance fish production and boost the income of the cultivators.

1628. PM distributes 51,000 appointment letters; 10 lakh jobs given since 2022
- Prime Minister of India, while virtually distributing 51,000 appointment letters for central government jobs on 12 July 2025, stated that the government should always act as a facilitator of growth, not a hurdle. With this latest distribution, over 10 lakh recruitment letters have been issued through Rozgar Melas since October 2022.
- Referring to the Cabinet's decision on the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, Prime Minister said the government will provide ₹15,000 to youth securing their first job in the private sector—essentially covering their first month’s salary. For this initiative, ₹1 lakh crore has been allocated, he added.
- The PM said global institutions like the World Bank are openly praising India for this achievement and it's now being ranked among the top countries in the world in terms of equality.

1630. DRDO, IAF successfully test indigenous Astra Missile with Radio Frequency Seeker from Su-30 MKI
- On July 11, 2025, DRDO and IAF successfully flight-tested the indigenous Astra BVRAAM with RF seeker from a Su-30 Mk-I off the Odisha coast.
- Astra BVRAAM has a range exceeding 100 kms and is equipped with state-of-the art guidance and navigation system.
- Defence Minister of India complimented the DRDO, the IAF and industry involved in the design and development of the RF seeker and stated that the successful testing of the missile with indigenous seeker is a major milestone in critical defence technology.
