481. Nagaland Hosts First-Ever Roundtable with Country Partners as Prelude to Hornbill Festival
- In an attempt to strengthen its global outreach, Nagaland hosts Its First-Ever Roundtable with Country Partners as a Prelude to the Hornbill Festival. The Inaugural Roundtable and Networking Dinner with Country Partners on 30 November 2025 at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, marks a significant step.
- This event was organised by the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and aimed to ensure a meaningful policy dialogue in the week preceding one of Nagaland's most important cultural events, the Hornbill Festival.
- Ambassadors from France, Ireland, and Switzerland attended, besides the High Commissioner of Malta, which shows the growing interest of foreign nations in exploring economic, cultural, and strategic partnerships with Nagaland.

482. PM gets Namibia's highest civilian award, his 27th global honour since 2014
- On 9 July 2025, IIndia Prime Minister was conferred with Namibia’s highest civilian honour, the Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis, by Namibian President in Windhoek during his first official visit to the country as part of the final leg of his five-nation diplomatic tour. - The award, named after a unique ancient Namibian plant symbolising resilience and longevity, recognises Indian PM contributions to strengthening India–Namibia relations, peace, socio-economic development, and South-South cooperation.He dedicated the honour to the people of both nations, and this marked the 27th international honour he has received since taking office in May 2014.
- During the visit,India PM and Namibia PM also held bilateral talks and signed four key agreements to deepen cooperation in areas such as energy, healthcare, digital technology, defence, and agriculture, reflecting a broader push to enhance strategic, economic, and technological ties between India and Namibia. 483. PM Modi conferred with Ethiopia’s highest honour during Addis Ababa visit, first world leader to receive it
- On December 16,2025,in Addis Ababa, Indian Prime Minister was conferred with Ethiopia’s highest civilian award, The Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia, during a special ceremony at the Addis International Convention Centre, becoming the first global head of state or government to receive this honour.
- The award was given in recognition of Indian Prime Minister exceptional contribution to strengthening India–Ethiopia relations and his visionary leadership as a global statesman, as stated by Ethiopia and India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
- Receiving the award from Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, Modi dedicated it to the 140 crore people of India and to Indians and Ethiopians who have nurtured bilateral ties, highlighting long-standing cooperation in education and development and marking a milestone in India–Ethiopia partnership and Global South cooperation.

484. BSF aids border-area school with education, sports, and health initiatives
- The Border Security Force has come to the aid of the Radhanesda primary school on the Indo-Pak border in Banaskantha. The village where the school is located is not on the revenue records of the state government.
- Lacking options the school approached the BSF to ensure kids come to schools, and the BSF in its turn has begun supporting the school infrastructure. Radhanesda primary school has two teachers and conduct classes from class I to VIII.
- There are 170 students, including 87 boys and 83 girls. Most are children of daily wagers and it is difficult for them to attend classes. BSF also helped the school with sports equipments and held a medical camp for the kids. It has also assigned a 224 sq m space in its command area as school playground.

485. BSF holds motivational session near India-Bangladesh border:Students get career guidance in Gomirapara High School under Saket’s initiative
- The Border Security Force (BSF) organized a motivational session at Gomirapara High School, located near the India-Bangladesh border. The session aimed to inspire and guide students in their career choices and personal development.
- Approximately 100 students from classes 9 and 10 participated in the program, which focused on career counseling, goal setting, and the importance of discipline in achieving dreams. The BSF has been actively conducting such initiatives, including coaching classes and career counseling programs.
- So far, around 200 students and youths from the Nagar Berubari Gram Panchayat area have benefited from these sessions. Residents have praised the BSF for its efforts in empowering the youth and fostering a positive environment in the border region.
- The initiative is part of the BSF’s broader mission to foster education and personal growth in remote border areas. By providing career guidance and motivational support, the BSF aims to equip students with the tools they need to build a brighter future.

486. BSF Organizes Free Medical Camp to Uplift Border Communities
- The 143 Battalion of BSF South Bengal Frontier conducted a free medical camp at Hakimpur Sporting Club, Kalyani, on 3rd March 2025, to enhance healthcare access and well-being for the border community.
- During the camp, a team of specialist doctors provided essential medical services, including blood pressure check-ups, ECG, dental and gynecological consultations, and free medicines to 431 patients. Initiative was aimed to address the healthcare needs of border villages, to ensure timely medical assistance and easy access to necessary medicines.
- The initiative is not just a medical camp, but a testament to BSF’s unwavering commitment to uplifting border communities, fostering sustainable development, and ensuring their well-being.

487. BSF Inspires Border Youth with Sports and Education Drive under Civic Action Programme
- 146 Battalion of BSF South Bengal Frontier organized a Civic Action Programme at Border Outpost Charbhadra Base on 10 March 2025 with the primary objective of fostering community development in border areas and promoting health and sports activities among the youth.
- Various sports items like football, volleyball, volleyball net, carrom board, chess board, cricket bat, ball, cricket stumps, badminton racket and shuttle cock, badminton net and skipping rope were distributed to the students.
- Keeping in mind the educational needs of the students stationery items like school bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, geometry box, eraser, sharpener, drawing paper, scale and white board were also distributed.
- The primary objective of the Civic Action Programme was to actively engage youth and students in productive and recreational activities, promoting a spirit of teamwork, discipline, and community involvement.

488. BSF launches four-day Civic Action Program in South Garo Hills
- The Border Security Force (BSF) 200th Battalion has launched a four-day Civic Action Program at Upper Primary School in Rongra, with the aim of supporting local communities through sports, welfare initiatives and medical aid.
- The BSF’s commitment to assisting the people of South Garo Hills through various community-driven initiatives. As part of the program, the 200th Battalion is organizing multiple sporting events, including a football tournament in Rongra, a volleyball tournament in Baghmara starting on March 27, and a badminton tournament on March 28.
- Additionally, a medical camp is being set up in Rongra to provide free health checkups and medicines to villagers. In a bid to support education and daily needs, the BSF will distribute stationery, sports equipment, ladies’ shawls, and essential items to underprivileged individuals in border areas.
- As part of its livelihood support initiative, the force will also provide bee-keeping kits to promote sustainable income opportunities for local residents.

489. BSF inaugurates computer training centre for students of border areas at Phansidewa
- A computer training centre was inaugurated today at Phansidewa on the Indo-Bangladesh border, as a collaborative effort between the 176th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the NRL organization.
- The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of various dignitaries, including Surendra Singh Sipahi, the officer of BSF’s 176th Battalion.
- The Inspector General (IG) of BSF, North Bengal Frontier, inaugurated the computer training centre during the event. Addressing the gathering, the IG highlighted that this initiative aims to provide computer education to the underprivileged students residing in the border areas.

490. BSF fortifies village guards initiative with arms training for Jammu border residents
- Post Operation Sindoor, the Border Security Force has started arms training for village defence guards (VDGs) along the Jammu border with Pakistan. The civilians residing in border villages are being trained as the “second line of defence” in the wake of infiltration by terrorists and terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
- The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has also sanctioned the deployment of more than 52,000 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel for the Amarnath Yatra commencing on July 3. As many as 581 companies, each comprising 90-100 personnel, will be deployed for the security of the pilgrimage, which concludes on August 9, 2025.
- Since 2022, the J&K Police have provided semi-automatic weapons to the VDGs to act in self-defence. When the scheme to arm civilians was first started in 1995 in 10 districts of Jammu, as members of the Hindu community were targeted and killed by terrorists, the civilians were provided with .303 rifles.
- On Thursday (May 29, 2025), the BSF-Jammu posted on X, “On 29 May, 2025, a three-day training program for VDGs began in Samba’s border villages, Galar, Chak Faquira, Khanpur and Suchetpur. The program focusses on building skills to safeguard communities, boost situational awareness and counter security threats effectively.
